My son and I have been patients of this office for about 6-7 years, then my husband the last 4. My daughter had her 5-year check up and it was recommended that her eyes be checked. She was prescribed glasses. They said to wait 1-2 weeks for her eyes to adjust. I called to make a follow-up to check her prescription because my daughter kept saying the glasses made everything "fuzzy ". My husband brought my daughter and was informed she wasn't on the schedule. There was no apology and the receptionist asked my husband, "are you sure your wife even scheduled an appointment?" We've noticed a high turnover rate the last few years, but it's just kept going downhill. I emailed the office my concerns and never heard back. We decided to go to a different doctor and really loved it! The doctor scanned my husband's glasses and sunglasses, and told us he was over prescribed because it was stronger than it needed to be. We will never go back to Gresham Optical! You've taken our money for garbage prescriptions. read more

I've been going to see Dr. Brophy for almost 20 years, but something has changed in the last couple of years. The new staff up front has some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced and act like they don't have time for you. Just trying to call and schedule an appointment results in long hold times. Last time I saw a new doctor and not Dr. Brophy and was not given the choice, which did not make me happy. When I went to my appointment today, I was not greeted with a hello or a smile. Just, "Can I help you?" I told him I was here for an appointment and the response was, "Name?", but I felt like I was having a conversation with the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld because I wasn't following the procedure to make his life easier. He grabbed my file and told me I needed to update my health history. When I told him nothing changed, he said, "Everyone says that" and walked off. What he basically told me was that he thinks all of the patients are idiots and I am one, too. There's a definite, palpable tone and lack of friendliness within the office. I am used to be treated much better by professional office staff staff, but appears this staff has no training on what customer service is. I decided to leave right then and will no longer invest my family's time or money at this office. There are other offices with much better customer service scores that I will go to, even if I have to drive further. This is a story of a long-time, loyal patient and customer who has left this office, and taken his family of patients with him. I will never walk back into that office again with the current front office staff still in place. This was not an isolated incident, but rather a straw that broke the camel's back scenario. Patients are not to be treated as objects to be processed down an assembly line. We are people who deserve better than what this office can offer. Dr Greg Brophy has been my optometrist for about fifteen years, and I wouldn't consider going to anyone else. He has the most up-to-date equipment possible, and his exams are extremely thorough. Not only does he do the regular vision check, he also tests for glaucoma, takes a photo of the inside of my eyes (which is really pretty amazing when you think of it), and always gives me a complete explanation for what he's doing. He treats me as a person, not as a pair of eyeballs, which I have had happen in the past. He's friendly and very accessible should I have any problems. He's professional to the max, but also very friendly and down to earth. I was just in there today for my regular exam, trying to decide between contacts and glasses. I have a complicated prescription, and Dr Brophy was absolutely honest with me about the positives and negatives of each. He gave me the information I needed so that I can make an informed decision with no pressure one way or the other. His office staff is wonderful, too. They're all very competent, friendly, and helpful. One time one of the hinges on my glasses got a sharp point on it, and all I had to do was show the staff person what was happening; she fixed it right away. This is typical. Another time my husband and I were going out of town and I didn't have a decent pair of sunglasses, so we stopped in at Gresham Optical and were helped to find exactly what I needed. I've never had to wait longer than five minutes for my appointment. The waiting room is very tastefully furnished, and there's a wide selection of frames to choose from. I had a really bad experience at another optometrist's before being referred to Dr Brophy by my daughter. I highly recommend Gresham Optical no matter what your vision needs might happen to be. read more

I love Gresham Optical. Dr Greg Brophy is great and the staff if wonderful! My husband was getting his eye care while I waited in the waiting room looking over all the options on frames. One of the wonderful ladies (Kaylynn) that works there was very helpful in telling me all the pros and cons on the frames I liked. She even showed me some that I might not have seen that I really liked! I felt like I had been well informed and could make a good decision about the frames and the lenses. Later on, the lenses got a scratch and we had paid to have the scratch resistant surface. Well one call into Kaylynn and she took care of it! Very prompt and helpful. As providers under a new insurance plan, we just started going to Gresham Optical and are so happy with the very friendly, level of service we've received. My husband needed safety glasses for work, and we had let it go until the very last minute. We were relieved to schedule an appointment on a Saturday for the exam, and quickly identified the desired product. They mailed the glasses to us while we were out of state. Indeed, our little emergency became their priority, and we were so relieved with the outcome. The waiting room is clean and comfortable; the examination rooms are state-of-the-art. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Karyn especially took special care to explain our new coverage, and other benefits provided under our new vision plan. Amazing customer service! I am visiting from out of town and lost a tiny screw in my glasses, so the lens popped out. The screws in my eyeglass repair kit were too large, so we called Gresham Optical and they were open - it is the day after New Years - and thought they could help. Not only did they find a replacement screw, they did the repair, carefully refitted the glasses and adjusted them, and did not charge a cent! I am very grateful! read more

Gresham Optical is the most unprofessional business. Dr. Brophy has no bedside manor, he runs you through the eye exam very quickly. I felt like a cow going to slaughter. He and his staff are very unprofessional and his staff lacks knowledge. Dr. Brophy got my eye prescription wrong. The glasses they ordered for me were wrong the first time. They tried a new prescription, I waited two weeks for my glasses, then I was told they hadn't even started making my glasses. The whole process of eventually not getting glasses, took 6 weeks. I would not recommend Gresham Optical to my worst enemy. read more

My Sister and I recently visited Gresham Optical for the Second year in a row. I had such a wonderful experience with both Dr. Katie Saul and the rest of the Office Staff. Last year I saw Dr. Brophy and loved him but he was not available on my days off so I decided to go with Dr. Saul. She is so wonderful and takes her time to explain every test and the benefit of having it done. I was impressed with all high end Diagnostic Testing the office has available. Once my appointment was over I worked with the Opticians and I was so unsure of what type of glasses I wanted. A couple of the Opticians worked together and helped me pick the perfect pair. There selection of frames is amazing. I will definitely be back again next year and recommend this office to all of my friends and family. read more

Dr. Brophy and his staff are the best ever! He correctly diagnosed a problem I had that two other doctors thought was caused by allergies. He showed me the simple and inexpensive way to clear it up. What a relief after 3 years of misdiagnosis and ineffective treatment. His office has a great selection of good-looking frames. Time and money waster. While the staff is friendly, the are overpriced and ineffective in their service. Waited 30 minutes beyond appointment time to be rushed through the examination. Went to pick up glasses, they had been ordered wrong by the staff, and I was then informed the right Rx would be $150 more than what I had already paid. Additionally, I have since learned their frames/lenses are approx. 30% more than any of the other optical shops I have checked out, that is with insurance. By the time I finish getting my refund, and having my insurance refunded so I can seek services elsewhere, about 3 hours of wasted time. I will not return for service and would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I've always had an amazing experience with them, and I've been going to them for about 8 or 9 years. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and Dr. Brophy is amazingly funny. My husband and I were both super pleased with our eye exams - super fast, easy to schedule, no trouble or issues at all. Thus, Dr. Brophy may see us again. For the exams only, though. We both purchased our glasses (regular and rx sunglasses) from the office, as well. The selection of frames was pretty good, although I wouldn't count on any help making a selection unless you specifically ask for it, but their cost was another matter. I know it depends on your insurace, but.... When I selected my sunglasses, I neglected to say I wanted polarized lenses. I called the day after my appointment, was told there would be an extra $X added to my total, and I could pay when I picked them up. I said that was fine, and made a note on my receipt. When I picked up my sunnies, though, I was charged twice as much as I had been told. I asked at that time about what I had been told. The woman assisting me said I was wrong (no real customer service offered, just "Nope. You owe $Y because of the polarized lenses." Nothing about the amount I had already paid towards my regular lenses). My regular glasses came in a bit later, and again I asked for clarification, because I still felt a little confused and received the same response. When my husband went in, he (of course, lol) seemingly chose the most expensive lenses he could find. They offered to let him pay half at the time of his appointment, and then he'd pay half when he picked them up, (which was really nice of them). We agreed, and he paid half of the amount shown on his receipt. When he finally got his glasses in, he paid larger amount than the half owed according to his receipt. He called the office about it the next day, and was told "Nope, you owe because of a math error." Again, no "Sorry for the confusion," or "I apologize for the misunderstanding." It's worth mentioning that my husband selected a pair of frames that come with those clip on tinted lenses, and the woman assisting him didn't bother to point that out before "helping" him pick out his sunglasses. While the amount of money we're out is somewhat small, it's still enough for both of us to agree that we will not purchase glasses from Dr. Brophy's office. I don't want to know how much the next issue will cost us. In short summation: Dr. Brophy is a great one for examinations, but, go somewhere else for glasses. I was glad to see he gives a copy of the rx to you at the end of the exam, so you can run out the door and find an office that (hopefully) doesn't make these types of mistakes. read more

Worse service ever. Did not see Dr. Greg but the staff is horrible. It's been more than a month and a half and I still don't have my glasses. Mistakes after mistakes followed by more mishandling, First of all, I came into the office with my prescription. A girl was helping me. She took my eye prescription to make a copy and asked me to look around to pick out a frame. Fifteen minutes went by and I am asking myself where the heck is she. Evidently, she went to lunch and didn't even say a word to me. I guess i only have myself to blame for coming in during lunch hour. Anyway, It took 3 weeks before I got notified that my glasses are in. They've made a mistake by having my bifocal too high. The person that helped me said he was going to expedite the replacement. A couple of days later I got a text to my phone telling me that my glasses are in. I rushed into the office and was told that they've made a mistake, The text was meant to notify me of the original pair of glasses. Left their office disappointed once again. A week and a half went by, no call. I called them up and was told told that they don't see any rush order for me and the guy that helped me are on vacation. I have to wait to talk with him when he return. waited a week, still no call from any body. I called back and spoke with the guy and he told me that the office manager forgot to put in the order. They will put in yet another expedite order. I was told that the order has been shipped and that I will get it today. Of course no call from them. So, I called them up and they told me they are not sure when it will arrive and will call me when it comes in. Uh, frustration beyond believe. read more

I have never in my life had to deal with worse customer service than with this group of incompetent people. Dr. Greg is amazing. I definitely couldn't say the same about anyone else in this office. I showed up for my appointment ten minutes early to fill out new patient paperwork. I turned it into the same lady that gave it to me. They "forgot" about me and I waited an hour and a half to finally be seen. It was a Saturday so I understood it was busy. But forgetting about patients is ridiculous. I was told that my new glasses would take a week and a half. It's been almost three weeks now and I still haven't received them. I've called numerous times. Once the lady told me she was going to call me back and never did. I had to call them back only to be told that they were going to sent out the next day. Which was a lie. I called again and the lady couldn't find them after asking me for my name multiple times and placing me on hold for minutes at a time. She then transferred me to another lady (without a wor that told me two different stories. I'll be happy when this nightmare is over. This place is terrible!!!! The one star I'm giving is for Dr. Greg. read more
