Greyhound uses Flixbus instead of Indian Trails from Grand Rapids, MI to Chicago, IL. Due to the weather/road conditions on 11/29/2025, I purchased a ticket to ensure safe travels home. (Amtrak was sold out until Monday) The bus arrived early and before we could exit the car, he closed the door to the luggage compartment and hurriedly boarded the bus, closing the entry door and driving off. He left behind several passengers, including myself. We tailed him for blocks trying to advise him of his early departure but, he ignored our attempts. Greyhound is defending this bus operator's early departure by stating, he left on time, which is totally false. To add insult to injury, I AM NOT being refunded the $83 one-way trip I purchased, which was extremely overpriced due to the holiday. I am totally dissatisfied and disgusted. I work in transit therefore, I understand that bus operators often leave early, whether purposely or in error. Nonetheless, it is against policy and the driver should be reprimanded. Either way, the passengers should be compensated in some form or fashion for their driver's error and lack of adherence to schedule. It's no wonder they have a terribly low rating. This is without a doubt the worst public transportation experience I have ever had. I was traveling East from GR and my ticket confirmation paperwork said that I should pick up my ticket 1 hour prior to my bus departure. I arrived at 6:30am, as my bus left at 7:15am. Upon arriving, I found the Greyhound ticket office was closed and would not open until 10:00am. I spoke with security and they said I should speak with the bus driver when he arrived. *Nowhere in my check out process, ticket confirmation or purchase information did it state that I would not be able to get my ticket because the office would be closed. When the bus driver arrived, and I asked what I should do so that I could board the bus - showed my confirmation paperwork, which lists the bus route and departure, as well as my personal and financial information (clearly I had purchased the ticket) - the driver stated that it wasn't his problem and that I should wait until 10am to get my ticket, and then book another trip. He was terribly rude, 0% helpful. The only person who was helpful was the security guard who attempted to contact the ticket gate person and get her to come in early - there were multiple other customers in the same predicament as me and the security guard said this was not the first time people experienced this issue. I will absolutely be calling the office to complain - the hours of the ticket offices should be clearly posted on the ticket information you receive upon booking, and it shouldn't be an option to collect your ticket at the station if the ticket desk will be closed. What's more is that this is clearly an ongoing issue, as there's a sign on the ticket desk that says "7:15am bus departures must have a ticket printed from home"...... would've been nice to know... read more

Most Greyhound stations are terrible, but this one is actually A-OK to me. Has a good variety of food able to be purchased and a good coffee shop... Like most bus stations, there are some homeless people hanging around...but that's nothing new. There is plenty of seating and the person working the Greyhound counter was nice and helpful. read more

I bought a bus ticket to go from Grand Rapids to East Lansing then from there to go to Pontiac. This was my only way to go home from college. I bought my tickets and thought it was going to be an easy ride home. Little did I know I would be stranded at the East Lansing bus station with no way to get home. I got off the first bus which arrived 30 minutes late. The second bus ALREADY LEFT!!!!! At this point we had no way to get home. The second bus came back and said it would pick us up. We got on the bus to realize it was COMPLETELY FULL. I was very pissed off and had to call at least 5 people asking if they could come get me. If I payed for a ticket, I should of had a spot on that bus even if the first bus came in late. I will never take greyhound again and will NEVER recommend it to any of my friends. read more

I had a similar experience as someone below. Bought ticket online. Didn't have access to a printer so I picked will call to get the ticket. Come to find out, the office closes 2.5 hours before the scheduled departure. Called local station to confirm. Went to some shady voice mail every single time over the course of 2 hours (while they were supposed to be open). Called 1-800 number and explained situation. Asked them to switch my settings to print out. No we can't do that sir. Youll just need to be there before they close. Seriously? And they tell me they don't have the authority to adjust your reservation (from will call to print ticket). Sure, I could rebook but i won't get refunded my first fare as the ticket was nonrefundable. If they default you to will call, they need to make sure the office is actually open. That is not something to discover after the fact. Greyhound is doomed if they don't get customer service figured out. And they clearly have a LOT to figure out. Absolutely tone deaf. read more
