I used Greyhound for the first time in a long time last week and found that they had improved a little from the last time I took by bus but I won't make traveling by bus a habit. I traveled from Jacksonville to Orlando and it only cost me $17. The bus was new, clean, and ran pretty much on-time. Greyhound bus stations are hit or miss. The one in Jax was a hit! Nice area of town, clean, and overall nice. Sadly my home terminal in Orlando is a huge miss. It's on the outside of town on John Young pkwy near the industrial part of town. It is old, dirty, and not that easy to get to. You will need to take a taxi or have somebody take you to the station because if you leave your car you will never see it again When you travel Greyhound you will meet all sorts of travelers and more "down and outers" than you will flying or on Amtrak. I never felt like anybody was dangerous (just crazy, stinky, or strange) so if you are looking for a cheap way to travel with mediocre service then by all means jump on the Greyhound. read more

Greyhound saved my life! I couldn't get a flight at all because I missed my flight due to the unorganized TSA security line set up! I was on standby with Delta until the following day and I knew I couldn't sleep at the airport. I'm not sure I would recommend traveling with greyhound to anyone. Although it was cheap $18 from orlando to Miami, the travel itself was a nightmare. I got stuck all the way in the back next to the bathroom and well if you're stuck in the absolute last seat next to the bathroom then you'll see that the bathroom door opens and hits you every time someone wants to use it. The heat from the wheels radiated towards our shoes and made it's way to our body. Plus the driver had the air off because it was "cold". My partner and I waited till everyone had boarded to ask about the driver about two seats behind him that were taken by bags. He said someone was sitting there....even though we were the last people to board. There was pungent smell the whole ride over that came from the seats and stuck to our clothes once we got off. Seats were super uncomfortable. It was the worst experience of life. The station looked miserable, no one was at the front desk for 20 minutes. Cruised to The Bahamas, had 5 hour layover from Orlando to Titusville then paid taxi $65 bucks to & $65 from Port Canaveral. Now two women have to " wait" from 9A until 8:30P just to get back (on track) to Orlando. Greyhound public transportation service sucks skunk... If I could rate lower than 1 star I promise I would! If I could give it less stars... I would ... bus driver incredibly rude and impatient despite him being the late one. When I boarded a "new" bus it was filled with empty bottles. The entire bus smelled like urine, even the front seats. Talking about seats... some seats had these metal rods sticking out of them and made it completely impossible to be comfortable. The bus was so dirty, the bathroom even worse. After stopping at many greyhound locations down the east coast, every single experience was terrible. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra 50 for a flight to Florida if you're coming from New York. This was my first and last trip taking the Greyhound Bus Services. The driver from Orlando to Atlanta was very rude to customers, (myself and Sister). They also lost all of our luggage and wanted to compensate us only $250.00. My things inside one suitcase was more than that and is irreplaceable. The baggage handlers just throw your stuff under the bus with no compassion. They never answer the phones and when they do, you just keep getting transferred to another line. I cannot give Greyhound even one star. Awful service, sketchy, dangerous bus stations (my son was robbed in the Atlanta terminal), etc. My son took the bus to Co and when he needed to come home quickly I purchased his ticket online. He left with more luggage than is allowed but paid the overage fees at the local station. He was unable to do this on his return trip and even though this company can process my credit card online for a ticket they are so archaic they "couldn't " do this over the phone in Denver. He was told he'd have to leave half his belongings behind. Ridiculous. There's no manager to speak with and the call center is in the Philippines so they don't care about customer service. Fortunately there are angels among us and someone approached my son and just said 'give me your bags' and loaded them on the bus. He's now in Texas, and the bus has broken down three times and there is no air conditioning. I'm praying he and his luggage make it home safely. Three daily buses are scheduled for the Tampa to Orlando to Atlanta route; 6:10am, 10:00am, and 4:40pm. The first two were cancelled and at 5:00pm, an employee announced that the replacement bus for the 4:40pm did not leave Orlando until 4:00pm, with an expected arrival no earlier than 6:00pm. This means that all transfers in Orlando to the next connection are invalid. Therefore, a passenger expected to arrive in Atlanta will, at best, arrive sometime around 7:00 am the next day. Earlier, the employees admitted that this is a common occurrence with drivers not showing up for their shifts. This is a clear disregard for passengers/customers from corporate down as employees are obviously not concerned with repurcussions from disregarding their job responsibilities. I highly recommend that you walk rather than be insulted by this poorly managed ghost of an efficient past. read more

NEVER BOOK ON THIS AGENCY!! My bus was supposed to depart at 8:45 pm and didn't even arrive to the station until 11 pm. To make matters worse, what was supposed to be a direct drive stopped at a location along the way at 3 am where all the passengers were asked to switch buses for an undisclosed reason. The new bus they put us in was too small so a group of us had to wait for the next bus, that was to come 3 hours later, in a station with no food, water nor working restrooms. To make matters worse, that bus was late too. I don't recommend this agency to anyone. read more

Out of many of the Greyhound stations, Orlando was one of the few that had security guards who would do bag checks and wand the passengers. This was comforting, considering that there had been recent "issues" in the area around bus depots. The food selection was good and moderately priced as one would expect for travel cuisine. read more

I was very hesitant when my son told me to help him with a ticket at the greyhound bus location at John Young in orlando. I went in and Ms. Louise was so kind to me and helped me with the ticket issue we had. She specifically told me to go on Monday and bring the ticket my son had so she can have it on file and match it with the new one we did. I woke up this morning, to keep my word and went to the bus location. What a horrible experience. First this gentleman comes-in and ask me what I needed. Customer service well unless you have ear plugs to with stand the lady from yelling at you is ok. She did help me out printing my ticket so I can have when boarding the bus. Which I don't understand if u have a E-pass on your phone, step up greyhound. The worst part on waiting here we're the restrooms and they were awful. The smell was so bad I couldn't even compare it to anything to give a example. For anyone coming here to use the restroom gas mask is a must. I will start out by saying, I am giving this crap hole a single star because I have to give it something. My employer bought me a ticket to travel to a school they want me to attend. I arrived at this building, that should be condemned 2 hours before my scheduled departure time. I entered the station.. there appeared to be construction debris in the parking area all around the buses.. it was filthy, garbage cans over flowing, bathrooms completely blocked off with caution tape,although there were 3 porta johns outside by the construction garbage... they were in serious need of being serviced and were extremely disgusting. The bus that I was supposed to take to Atlanta was parked by the door, by the garbage and the hideous porta johns.... the vehicle was filthy, it appeared to be in barely passable condition for the trip to Atlanta. I couldnt believe the condition of the terminal as well as the condition of the buses... I didnt think taking the chance on this death wagon was worth it.... so I went to Orlando International Airport and bought a ticket that was $64 less than the ticket on the murder bus. Do yourself a favor, do not go near this place... it seriously is in need of either being torn down, OR it needs to be maintained and run by someone that gives a crap. read more

Extremely overpriced, over crowded, and always late. The orlando bus station is in a horrible location that I would not want to be alone at after dark. The station does not have enough seating and no real food options. It feels like you are waiting in a dirty mens room...at a dirty bus station. When the bus is coming people push and shove to get in line because the buses are sometimes overbooked so if you don't get in you miss your bus. The bus stop in Orlando wasn't terrible in itself, however, my bag wasn't ticketed in Ft. Lauderdale so it was stranded in Orlando as I was on my way to Atlanta. At first, when I arrived in Atlanta, I was concerned but I figured that I would just all the baggage department, because they are open 24 hours, and ask them to place it on the next bus. BOY, WAS I WRONG! Getting in touch with them is just as impossible as finding a wish granting unicorn. I began calling them when I arrived in Atlanta at 9:15 pm and continued until 3 am. I can say, at 9:08am (the current time) no one answered the baggage number, the customer service number, or the sales number, which is utterly ridiculous. However, Ft. Lauderdale answered on the 2nd call and a wonderful young woman must've felt my frustration and gave me the manager's number in Orlando. Within two tries, a young man named David answered and took my information and bag description and promised to call back, or have someone call me back, if the bag was located. Of course, I was pretty skeptical, seeing how my calls had gone ignored prior to this, but within 5 minutes, I received a call back letting me know my bag was located and would be placed on the next bus out! Therefore, the only reason I'm giving this location 3 stars is because of David and his efficiency, otherwise, if I could give this place negative stars, I would. All this trouble could been saved, and I could've received my bag 6 hours earlier, if they would just pick up the phone when I called the first time. read more

They have to be the worst bus system EVER!!! took a trip from Orlando to New York. Went up by Megabus and was treated with respect. We made frequent stops along the way where we could purchase souvenirs and easily find a place to eat that was reasonably priced. Not so with greyhound. The itinerary showed we were making frequent stops with restaurants available but they weren't. The whole trip, I ate one meal at a WAWA that was in a very shady neighborhood. The highlight was when, having to go back to Raleigh due to bus issues, when we finally got to Fayetteville to change drivers for what seemed like the hundredth time, we got a driver with a huge chip on his shoulder. The other driver convinced him to allow us to stay on board as it was 40 degrees out and raining. But a few people didn't understand him when he said not to bother him during the change process so the next thing we knew we were being screamed at to get off. As I did so, I let him know how I felt about getting screamed at at 1:30AM. I was, from that point on deemed a trouble maker to him. Someone had called the police on him due to the fact there was a pregnant woman with another baby standing in this cold rain. He automatically assumed it was me until a man confessed to it. At this point, the driver grabbed his"500.00" guitar and walked off the bus, leaving it running with us stranded in Fayetteville from2AM until 7:30 when they found another driver. Could not get a refund. Very uncaring bunch of people. After being on that bus for OVER 26 hours, I had just enough time to go home, drop off my suitcase and change and run out the door for work. The people who've been ragging on Lynx giving poor service need to ride greyhound just once. Then you'll learn what bad service really is read more

OMG where do I start I was on my way from NYC to Miami and since I didn't food back in Jacksonville I went to Orlando to buy some fries. From Fort Lauderdale to Miami I was feeling very nauseous. Fussing and turning trying to sleep comfortable. While I'm in a cab the roads are bumpy so in my head I'm like oh no. A couple mins from my destination I ended up throwing up. Thank god I had a plastic bag w| me or else the driver would've been pretty upset. He didn't even know I threw up. Once I got to my destination I thought I had it out of my system but no 10-15 mins inside I ended up throwing up again. Not tryna sound nasty but yea both ends it was coming out. So my wife and I were looking to get to TN from FL. I said we should spend the extra money and get a plane ticket as there was no rentals available anywhere in our area. She convinced me to take the bus considering neither of us had been on a bus ride and she thought it looked like an adventure. The thought of some sleep sounded nice, however I told her I thought it would be a bad idea and the people we might encounter. Turns out I was right and with the first bus being an hour late. The people at the station. The fact that my wife and I rushed to get my ticket because it "closed" online and only one ticket went through. Every single employee we ran into was rude. Threatened to kick people off the bus because their phones rang. Sanitation, what's that? I'm sure would be Greyhounds response considering there was trash, dirty bathrooms, torn seats, terrible smells. I seriously thought about pulling the emergency exit and jumping out when we were stuck in traffic with no air. The organization = there is none. We didn't know what bus to get on and neither did the employees. Other customers were more helpful. Good luck sitting next to your significant other without having a nice, respectable person who offers. Thank you to her! The other time I had to actually ask after about 30 minutes for the man to switch seats when he knew we were married and together. He did not that he seemed eager to... I still thank him. Customer service is a joke we were late for everything and I almost missed my whole point of the trip I ended up not getting sleep for 24+ hours due to this little "adventure". My wife spent hours on the phone until I finally called. They actually had the nerve to offer $30 vouchers hahaha what a joke! So they offer $20 back per ticket almost $300. They don't give money back based on "experience", "incidents", only on late arrivals.... So I said sure thing then you owe me $20 for every stop and transfer = 8 * 20 = 160 each. Makes sense to me... So 2 hour call they go to $30 back on a card. We are speaking to our credit card at this point at the same time. My wife starts to dispute everything so I give them an offer of $40 per even though I shouldn't have and what do you know after ~30 more minutes that's acceptable. So recap worst experience ever. Spent probably 7+ hours on the phone after experience which they will "send to administration" also max is $20 back then magically $30 when I don't go away then I mention $40 and what do you know all of a sudden the max back per ticket doubles. Hmmm guess they don't like hearing that I'm not poor and stupid and do keep records, times, and not completely ignorant when it comes to properly disputing. Oh 7-14 days to get the money back and that's if we get it back... If I had read these reviews before agreeing this would have never happened we had only 3 hours to decide for the bus option and to pack up. Since all cars were gone. I truly wish I would have went with my instinct and bought us the plane tickets. Have an upset wife for a couple hours rather than an upset wife for a week.... read more

Minus ten stars! Disrespectful place. You get there and some random security does some random bag check. Not checking every bag only some of them. Next to that he tried to throw my stuff on the floor opened my money bag so rough that my money and my identification almost fell on the floor. Tried to touch all my belongings which I'm not sure if that's actually legal for random security companies. On top of that he called me constantly Mami which is also super disrespectful. By the end I went to the grey hound employee to file a complaint because even though he already looked through my back he tried to deny me to go on my bus. Next he called the cops on me and still tried to deny me access to the bus yet the lady told me that he's just trying to do all that but I'm still getting on my bus and that I just should open the whole bag again. What a disgusting treatment. I will whatsoever find out what security company he apparently works at because he has to check his rights again. Ok so, I have to admit that because of the reviews I was feeling ready for having a bad experience, but it was pretty good! My trip was from Orlando to Tampa. My bus arrived in time, the WiFi did work, the bathrooms in the Tampa station were overall clean, which it was nice. The only thing that was a boomer was that the charging plugs in the bus didn't work, so I recommend to have a external charger and charge your cellphone before the trip. I mean, I don't have much to ask so overall it was a nice trip. Definitely would try it again. read more
