Make a reservation! The girl seemed annoyed that we did not make a reservation. We ended up in the tea room which is the bar while renovations are being done. I do not understand what the hype is about on chowdown. I have had better everything someplace else. These "world famous onion rings" are huge and crisp, but no flavor. I salted them and added marinara from the cheese sticks. The cheese sticks are massive too, you might choke on the cheese though, they're good as well as the fried green tomatoes. The family style fried chicken wasn't anything special for me. The chicken and the breading have a chewy texture. I liked the dark meat the most. The biscuits were hard, the green beans were sweet and the mashed potatoes tasted like powdered mashed potatoes. I did really like the cole slaw and my daughter liked the potato soup. They do seem to cater to the older crowd, so don't expect much seasoning. It took two hours and we are in like minutes. It was drawn out and overpriced. Go to Galactic chicken, or BW3's. read more

This place is a classic and remains a great spot. The food is always consistent and very good. I haven't even tried their fried chicken, and that's what they are known for! Rachel, our server, was very busy but held it together. The food times were super long. Luckily, it was worth the wait. We skipped dessert although they have a nice selection. Have not ate at Grayhound in years... now I remember why. Grossly overpriced, terrible size portions with absolutely no flavor. I got the turkey Hot Brown and half size onion rings to go yesterday. It was disgusting. The batter on the onion rings were light and fluffy, unfortunately when I bit into them they had zero taste! How ?!! How can you screw up a onion ring. My turkey Hot Brown looked like throw-up. Needless to say both went on the trash at the cost of $28.00. Stay clear of this establishment!!! Such a disappointment! read more

I didn't have reservations and was told it was 40 minutes to an hour wait. I placed a to go order and was still waiting after 20 minutes. A couple walked in and were seated immediately. I walked up to the reception area and asked why they were seated and I was told 40 minutes to an hour wait. The male told me to quiet and not make a scene. Cancel my order and I will never do business with you again. I even gave the hostess a tip. Everything I ordered is already done, everything I used to work there. We enjoyed our visit to Greyhound Tavern today. Fried green tomatoes, onion rings, meatloaf, fried chicken, hot browns, our party was pleased with everything we had. Our waitress was friendly and kept up with refills and other requests with a smile. We did not have a reservation but we only had about a fifteen minute wait for our party of nine. We were excited to try this place, but unfortunately the food was pretty bad.. We ordered appetizers and the pimento cheese was great but their onion rings had absolutely no flavor (had to drown them in ketchup to eat them). For entrees we had two orders of the Hot Brown, the filet mignon and the pork chop and unfortunately every single entree was "okay" at best... The filet was ordered medium-well and came out rare and the Brussels sprouts were over cooked. Even the side Caesar Salad wasn't that great. The bad: you must make a reservation or your not getting in. Most of the patrons that come here are in their 60's+. This demographic age group knows a great place indeed! However it appeared these patrons extend the dining experience from drinks, appetizers, the meal then after dinner drinks/desserts. This resulted in a slower table turnover time. I was in town for a business trip. The group recommended this place. I had the pecan chicken with sewer potato purée and Carmel bourbon glaze. Two words: Uh Mazing! It saddens me to give the Greyhound Tavern a bad review. As we have always enjoyed eating there. We were there on December 6 and sadly the food we ordered was subpar at best. I ordered the open-faced roast beef entree. I have ordered this entree before and it was always good. This time however the mash potatoes were barely warm. There was no gravy on the mashed potatoes or on the roast beef. The host who seated us happened to walk through our section and I asked him if I could get some gravy for my meal. He was surprised at how my meal was plated and promptly brought me some gravy. The bread beneath the roast beef was stale and hard My green beans were very flavorful and good. My husband ordered the Alaskan halibut entree. The halibut was overcooked no flake to it at all. His heirloom carrots were burnt to a crisp inside and out. His risotto was good. In addition to the underwhelming food. We had an issue with our waiter. He brought us our drinks and bread. We never saw him again for a good 25+ minutes. A food runner brought us our food. The restaurant was not busy during the timeframe we were there. He had plenty of time to be more attentive to his customers. No one came to check on us or refill our drinks. When our waiter finally returned he saw the carrots and said "oh my goodness these carrots are burnt. I'm so sorry." He asked if my husband wanted a different side. Which he declined as we were both finished eating at that point. Needless to say it was not a pleasant dining experience for us. read more

We had not been here since the acquisition from HRG. They have definitely spruced the place up a bit in the entry & main dining room, but kept the tavern room and bar in Kentucky historic fashion. We were there on a Friday night, made reservations for 2 @ 6:30 pm. Arrived at 6:30 and Al waited about 10 minutes to be seated in the Tavern room. Edward, our waiter was very personable and professional. We ordered the chicken tenders and fried Cod dinner with hot slaw and green beans. Food was served hot and bountiful. The historic Greyhound Tavern (will celebrate 100 years in 2021) holds a special place in my heart as my husband and I had our rehearsal dinner there with our families before our wedding. Now, we've made it a tradition to eat there every year as we celebrate our wedding anniversary. While this year looked a bit different due to COVID, it was just as memorable. Greyhound does have indoor & outdoor seating available during the pandemic, but our comfort level led us to make the decision to order carry out for our meal. My husband gets The All American Burger each time we go because he swears it's the best burger he's ever had. This year I ordered my first Kentucky Hot Brown and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered mine with turkey which was the perfect cut to the mounds of delicious melty cheddar cheese & bechamel sauce. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY Went with my husband and it was Sunday Father's Day. We walked in they stated it was buffet only but we have had it before it's okay. Received a bill for $42 a person which is outrageous for the food that was there. There was no sign at the front letting you know and the bar waiter didn't say but normally it is $24. Which is about what it's worth. Asked an employee about it, and they said the restaurant raised it a little for Father's Day and they do the same on Mother's Day. Well, $24 to $42 is not a little bit. If you don't mind the flowery wall paper and older crowd, this is the place to go for great southern food. As an appetizer, my friend ordered the Onion Rings. Loved it!! The batter was excellent! For dinner, I got the Pecan Crusted Chicken with Mash Potatoes and Broccoli/Cauliflower (vegetable of the day). The chicken was topped with roasted pecans and their special Maker's Mark caramel sauce. I have asked the server if they could butterfly my chicken (since I do not like it to be thick) and with no problem, they prepared it the way I asked. They also have a good wine selection to go with their meals. It is dimmed and with a country/southern decor, which i surprisingly liked. The restaurant is clean, service was great and quick. Their fried green tomatoes are delicious, and I always get them as an appetizer. Their pimento cheese with pita wedges is also a great appetizer choice.
