Omg, the waitress recommendation for the Friday night Chicken Picatta special was the greatest . Yamaha was our server and she was the best server I've had in a long, long time. Her recommendations were spot on. There were 3 of us. We all had her special recommendations which were chicken pinata, and chicken marmalade. I was a little worried because of the ambiance of florescent lighting and old booths. But I was super impressed with the food. Very, very good. I also had the Matsaball Soup and the recommended chocolate flan desert. I can't say enough good things about Yomara and the high quality food at a very reasonable price. It's on reseda and Ventura right behind vons and cvs. My wife had huevos rancheros ( deep fry corn tortilla top with refried beans, sunny side eggs, salsa, queso fresco and sour cream) they were really good did not disappoint. Located in a strip mall, Greystoke Grill is a hidden gem in the Valley. It has an old school diner type of feeling and that's because it's been around for 40 years! I love the decor and its prime location - found parking easily on-site. Immediately upon entering, our party of 5 was greeted with a big smile and quickly seated. I personally loved the variety in their breakfast menu. I got to try a little bit of everything since all ordered different items. The Huevos a La Mexicana are superb! They had jalapeno but it wasn't overwhelming or too spicy; just right. Their homestyle potatoes are well seasoned and addicting! Their toast and coffee was on point, and our server did an excellent job in ensuring our mugs were never empty. We finished with a breakfast dessert of pancakes with whip cream and chocolate syrup topped with strawberries and bananas. Needless to say, our group devoured the whole thing! Overall, this place is an excellent establishment. I love that it's been under new ownership for over 5 years, because it shows! This is the place where I go during business lunches it is a very nice and quaint place you would almost miss it because of its location. It has that Old school Diner type atmosphere where you just find yourself a booth and someone will be right there. You normally never have to wait The coffee is good hot and plentiful where your cup barely goes half way down before being filled to the brim just all around amazing service. As far as the food goes, since I am there regularly with I tend to like to try different things on the menu. The menu itself has a wonderful variety of your basic mom and pop type restaurant where you are going to find something that you like. Lol Services by a nice waitress that serviced many tables and at the same time didn't keep us waiting. I was impressed. Went with a classic steak and eggs. Steak was really emeralds good. So good that I didn't need to add anything to it. The eggs with chopped tomatoes wasn't good. I tasted and gave up. Also good home fries and coffee. Pricing: good. 2 people with drinks and coffee. I don't wanna be a party pooper - but today i am disappointed. I have been here before a few months ago and was happy with the breakfast . I didn't give a review tuan but would have been a 4 star. Today 2 stars . Coffee was good, chicken burger and the grilled chicken breast were both disasters!!!! Chicken burger was written on the board as a special - so i thought i try it . I asked the waitress if its ground meat like a turkey burger and was told that it is " ground meat " but it came out like a dry , flat , fried thing with no flavor . I cant tell if it was breaded or what but looked deep fried and just weird . Had no flavor and the whole burger was just dry so I asked for a grilled chicken breast ( was prepared to pay extra ). It came out looking good but it was hard to chew so i assumed it may be under cooked so i asked to grill it a few more minutes . It came back and it was still chewy ! I could not eat it . Waitress was nice about it , asked if i wanted something else but i was over it . Cole slaw was good . My husband liked his burger and our friend liked his sandwich . My suggestion to the management : make sure the waitress tells the customers that the chicken burger is not like a turkey burger and it is deep fried . I would just take it off the menu entirely . Cant imagine anyone liking that dry piece of frozen food looking thing ? Secondly : marinate the chicken breast or place it in salt- water before grilling it to soften it up.
