It's sad that the hype about this place is so high and when I tried this place it was not good. I ordered a Taylor ham egg and cheese sandwich and the Taylor ham tasted like it was bad. Nothing beats a Jersey bagel, but the bagels at Griddle This were unfortunately below expectation. Photos of their food look great on Yelp, so I was under the impression that I'd be getting a delicious, stacked bagel. Instead, I received an everything bagel with hardly any everything seasoning on it, and a Taylor ham with egg and cheese with very little inside. I saw the rave reviews on Yelp so I just had to try it out, when I finally arrived I wasn't sure it was the right place- there's no sign that actually displays their name. I went in anyways and it's a super small cozy place, I sat at the little counter. I believe the owner and coworker were super friendly and talkative. I ordered the #7 omelette but exchanged the sausage for fried chicken cutlet instead- super delicious and very filling. Apparently the worker there liked the way I rolled with my substitution with the chicken- it added a very nice flavor and nice crispy texture. I totally forgot to take a picture but it was delicious. Just needed a bit of salt- but I'm not complaining (there was salt and pepper on the counter). The service alone would make me want to go back- highly recommended ! read more

The sandwiches look like they are being put together by a child as well as the way it's wrapped. I do, on the other hand, have an issue with the owner Eric. Without going into any detail, he's had unfavorable social conflicts|drama within Dumont. Let's just say this was staple of mine when I was living there, fresh bagels,..taylor ham, egg and cheese, on a kaiser roll, at a great price. Eric (is he still there) would always bust my balls,..I would tell him "Shut up you"and then read the Daily News on the counter, but the breakfast sandwiches would be perfect, comforting,..and it felt like home. This is one of those "stand up guy" places,.. no bedazzle,..no bullshit,..you get in and get out,...and they do the job. Still the best - insert craving here - spot. Griddle this has been so pregnant friendly. I customize everything I order. Side sausage w mushrooms, you bet. Salad minus this, that and the third? You got it. I recently tried their oatmeals and though their combination examples sounded good, this baby wanted a specific combo of fruits and nuts. The oatmeal came jam packed and filled to the brim. Like any oatmeal l, it could benefit from some reconstitution after some time but I can easily stretch the large size into several servings. A couple of weeks ago I tried their split pea and I was impressed. It was perfectly seasoned. Not a single drop of anything else was needed. Since then I've been on their soup adventure. Lentil and chicken orzo today were spot on. Are you thinking of something you think is weird for breakfast but too scared to order in fear that you'll be judged but too lazy to make it yourself?
