Do not waste your time with this company. I have had my house service with GE for decades but the company has declined in customer service and general tech service. You will waste your time with erroneous charges and having the tech service cone out to fix your problem multiple times because they didn't listen or didn't know how to fix it the first time. Purchased a home with a fuel-oil furnace in Reston, VA. After days of calling around and trying to find ANY provider in our area, we were forced to conclude our only available option was to call Griffith Energy Services. We were wrong. We could have gotten a more modern, efficient heating system, which is the option we're pursuing after two months of dealing with poor customer service, bait-and-switch deals, and a general disregard for customer happiness. In the very brief period GES has serviced us, we have been charged for over $1300 worth of oil. Granted, we've had a couple of cold days, but so far this winter has been unseasonably warm. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if winter had behaved normally this year. In addition, service technicians show up unannounced (one scared the hell out of my wife when she found him peering through our kitchen window one morning). I called several times to get a sense of why our oil bill was so ridiculously high. Each time, I was directed to a hold queue for 20 minutes, then automatically redirected to the Emergency Services line, then hung up on. TL;DR DO NOT USE GRIFFITH ENERGY SERVICES UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. If you purchase a home with a fuel-oil furnace, save yourself the cost and trouble of dealing with this company and get it replaced with something more efficient. read more

I just dropped Griffith for McMichael Heating Oil out of Warrenton. McMichaels is $1.15 cheaper per gallon than Griffiths!

I'm not sure what's happen to Griffith, we've used them for years but we can't get them to call us back or show up when we have a scheduled delivery. When they do answer, customer service is rude and either hang up or say we'll call you back and then nothing! They also "claim" to show up, but then tell us our dogs are out. However, we have a 24/7 monitoring on our house, I can look through the footage and prove you never showed up. Plus! We work from home! We have no oil and haven't since the spring because we can't get them to fill up the tank and we were on the auto fill program. Don't waste your time or patience on this company. read more

We had a contract with Griffith for our oil delivery for two years. I will say the one positive is that they did start a new account on a Sunday when we accidentally ran out of oil. Couldn't get any other company to delivery emergently without a standing account. We often had billing confusion. I'd receive bills when I had already paid weeks prior. This happened on multiple occasions. We converted to natural gas using another company who doesn't do oil, so they can't remove the tank. Griffith would only remove the tank if we had converted with them. So much for two years of paying them. Served us no good when we needed them in the end. read more

They will charge you an "Emergency Drop Credit" when you ask to have the tank filled, this "credit" is $335.00 dollars and will not tell you. I have had Griffith since we bought the house in 1988. They have gotten progressively worse in all manner of service. I believe they choose to deliver when oil is high. They send bills out late and then charge interest. I just got a bill for delivery on 10/23 with a bill date of 10/31 that is due upon receipt for fear of more fees and charges. On the reverse of the bill it says to avoid charges, pay with 10 days of the closing day...which is conveniently NOT identified anywhere I can find on the bill. Would give them a zero if it were an option. read more

Griffith's customer service is the worst I have ever seen. Do not sign up for their annual service plan because you will not get anyone to actually call you back for service. As other reviews have mentioned, they have constant billing issues and try to get you to pay for service that you do not receive. Griffin is a vary bad, unprofessional, unethical company. They over charged me and trying to push oil that I don't need. I cancelled not to deal with them again and I asked for confirmation email to show I cancelled. The lady I spoke to said I can't give you that. The signup process with Griffith is misleading. They quote you a capped rate for the first year via the customer service rep which you agree to via email and send information to set up the account. After confirming you are set up, they unknowingly sent a separate email with an online contract to sign agreeing to the pricing. The email went to spam and noone followed up on the contract. With no contract in place they move forward with billing you at higher rates without letting you know until the higher bill comes in. After following up with customer service they did not honor the originally quoted pricing documented in the email chain because the secondary contract (which we never saw) was not signed. Seems shady to say they can't charge you the capped rate without a signed contract, but can go ahead and charge whatever they want without one. read more

Jones-Rogers and I had a relationship dating back to 2009 when they serviced the HVAC at my old unit in Arlington. They did an OK job at that time and also offered a "warranty" plan which allowed you unlimted service updates, HVAC checks, etc., for 10 years. Well they suck. Because every time I have called them to do the annual and bi-annual checks, they NEVER FUCKING SHOW UP. And when you call them to inquire where they are, they state they don't have any appointment on file. So then you book again and the cycle repeats itself about 2-3 times before they finall show up. This last time, they left duct tape as a holder to fix the HVAC filter. Duct tape. $1K they wanted. no good. don't recommend. read more

Terrible, these idiots think signing up for reoccurring service means you just walk onto people's property without asking and dropping off bills over $1000 again with no notice of service, no knock on the door, nothing. I own 3 pitbulls, what would happen to my dogs had these idiots walked onto my property and into my yard at the same time my dogs had been out. My dogs would most likely be put down because these idiots think it's common practice to open peoples fences up and walk into their yard without asking. When we complained to them they first told my wife 2 times that they would call her back, never called her back so I called back a few weeks later and spoke to the general manager who offered no understanding of how inconsiderate and dangerous his policies are and just reiterated that he does this all the time. Jones-Rogers failed to correctly install my Lennox equipment on 06/11/09. I, the homeowner, had to discover & correct their installation errors on my own time, at my own expense. Jones-Rogers failed to deliver on a verbal promise from both Eric J. Jones & "RJ" that I would receive written confirmation that Lennox will grant 10 YEARS PARTS & LABOR WARRANTY coverage on my Lennox equipment. CHRONOLOGY: 06/11/09: Jones-Rogers installs new Lennox system at my home; cost $10,600. Components are: XP19-048 Heat Pump; CBX32MV-068-230-6-05 Air Handler with ECB29-20CB-4P Electric Heat Sections; PureAir Air Purification System (PCO16-28); ComfortSense 7000 Series Thermostat; Remote Outdoor Sensor (X2658). 10/12/09: I discover the unit is not producing heat, nor Emergency Heat. 10/13/09: I contact Jones-Rogers & schedule a service call for same day. A tech comes to my home to perform service. Tech says that he removed a jumper from the air handler & installed a jumper at the thermostat, & "everything was ok." Tech departs with system producing heat as needed. 10/14/09: I discover the unit is not producing heat, nor Emergency Heat. I contact Jones-Rogers & speak with a female employee. She advises that yesterday's tech told her that the air handler's blower motor needed to be replaced. I insist to her that the tech was mistaking my home for another, because he left my home yesterday saying "everything was ok".......with no mention of a motor problem. I request a return phone call from Eric Jones, BUT NEVER RECEIVE ONE. Later, the tech calls me to say that he did not mention the motor yesterday because he was not certain if there was a problem with the motor or circuit board. The tech finally tells me that the parts have been requested. I send an email to Eric Jones notifying him of my disappointment with Jones-Rogers. Specifically, that the tech from 10/13/09 believed the system to be wired incorrectly since the 06/11/09 installation. I also complain that this same tech left my home on 10/13/09 saying everything ws ok, when in reality he knew that there was more to the problem, but did not bother to give me a "heads up" so I could plan my schedule in anticipation of additional service work. In the same email, I list four questions about my system and ask Eric Jones to answer the questions. ERIC JONES NEVER REPLIES TO MY 10/14/09 EMAIL. 10/15/09: A Jones-Rogers tech comes to my home & installs a new blower motor & control board in the Air Handler. 12/12/09: I discover the unit is not producing heat. A Jones-Rogers tech comes to my home & replaces the ComfortSense 7000 thermostat. 01/03/10: I discover the unit is not producing heat, nor Emergency Heat. 01/04/10: A Jones-Rogers tech comes to my home & replaces the ComfortSense 7000 thermostat with a ComfortSense 5000 thermostat, a lesser model. The tech also replaces the ECB29 Electric Heat Sections in the Air Handler. I speak with Eric Jones by phone. Eric Jones states that he will request that Lennox cover my equipment for 10 years parts & labor. Eric Jones also states that these numerous service calls are costing Jones-Rogers money, so he will lobby Lennox to send a regional rep to my home to review the entire 06/11/09 installation. 01/05/10: Eric Jones says that he spoke with "Pete" (from Lennox), & "Pete" approved a 10 years parts & labor warranty on my Lennox equipment. I request written confirmation, & Eric Jones replies that I will receive it in the mail. Eric Jones further advises that the ComfortSense 5000 will remain in my home until Lennox advises him whether or not Lennox is having widespread problems with the ComfortSense 7000 thermostat. Eric Jones states that the Lennox regional rep is in travel status now, but he will continue to pursue having a Lennox rep come to my home to inspect my system. 01/18/10: A Jones-Rogers tech comes to my home to replace the ComfortSense 5000 with a new ComfortSense 7000 thermostat. 01/26/10: I send an email to Eric Jones inquiring about: (1) the status of a Lennox rep coming to my home to inspect the equipment, & (2) the status of the written confirmation acknowledging Lennox' 10 years parts & labor warranty on my equipment. 01/28/10: I receive a phone call from "RJ", identifying himself as Eric Jones' assistant. "RJ" advises that I should receive the written warranty confirmation in the mail in 3-4 more weeks. "RJ" further advises that Jones-Rogers is still waiting to hear from Lennox regarding a Lennox rep visit to my home. 03/06-15/10: After reviewing ALL Lennox installation manuals left at my home by Jones-Rogers, & conducting a self-inspection of my Lennox equipment, I discover numerous installation/wiring errors. These errors are confirmed by HVAC technicians who lend their expertise to an online forum for Lennox owners & service techs. Sorry, out of space per Yelp. You get the picture. JR was at our place twice to find out what was wrong with one of the air conditioner units. Since they originally put the unit in years go, we thought they would understand the problem. Wrong. 2 visits and $400+ later, I called another company who came on time, detected the problem, fixed it and was out within an hour for under $200. jRs customer service was poor and that they couldn't figure the problem out was unacceptable. I called several companies to give estimates in January when my furnace died. Jones Rogers were the most prompt arrival for the scheduled time and their estimate was very competitive. The installation took half a day and they couldn't have been more professional. The new unit has been working well since then and it much quieter than our old one. I would definitely call them again to service my heating/AC units. read more

If you want to become a customer of Jones Rogers, good luck. I bought an AC unit from them back in 2010. The buying experience was good. Easy negotiation and installation went smooth. However, the repair process was horrible. The motor on the outside unit failed, so I called them since it was still under warranty. I don't know where they ordered the part from, but it did not arrive for 2 WEEKS (including days with 90+F, and we have small baby -- imagine that). I called them everyday, but they had NO CLUE when it would arrive. All the lady said was "I left them a message". She did not even bother getting a tracking number or pushing them to re-send the part. When the part finally arrived, I asked for a discount for the repair for the delay, and she, of course, said "No". So, if you want to deal with them, Good Luck! but not me anymore. Oh, by the way, they close early EVERYDAY, so don't get surprised if you get a voice mail service before their closing time --- and they never call you back. You just get your day wasted. When my service contract runs out I will be finding a new company. Have been waiting a week for a part in 97 temp - called 3 times - told I can check on that - don't get a call back. Griffith Energy Services: for the second time in one month,we lost heat. Response time has been 7+hours - house was 53 degrees. COLD! Have service contract (they call it a "policy"). First time, air in lines because though we have automatic oil delivery, they let the oil tank get too low (this was per the technician that responded). Second time, ran out of oil. Per their office when call placed, someone in "Sales" put us on some kind of hold (still don't understand it - made no sense). Could not clearly explain why, Also, person spoken to said there was some confusion about our oil tank size - you have got to be kidding - this was one of the first questions asked when Griffith was contacted in June 2017. Plus Griffith did a site visit! Either way, we were never contacted about being placed on "Hold" ! So much for automatic delivery! Extremely sorry left prior company. Buyer BEWARE! Update: 11:55 am - placed call for no heat; 2:09 pm - Linda from griffith calls to try explain the "hold" - someone will come out: 3:50 pm - called to check on status - on list for service; 6:53 pm. called to check on status - on list for service; 8:45 pm - get Eugene at answering service - no call listed - took information again - will try to have someone call us. It was very difficult to research a new HVAC system for my home in Fairfax County. Many companies would not even return my call for an estimate. Jones-Rogers was very professional and able to answer my many questions about what they were recommending. Once I chose their proposal, I found them to be reliable and on time with their install date, clean and efficient with their work and very helpful with filing for VA State energy rebates, Washington Gas rebates and even the manufacturer rebates. I had all the paperwork necessary to get back the cash I was promised. I am very happy with the quality of my system. Jones -Rogers were professional and easy to deal with . It is a family run business and they really care about their customers. I highly recommend this company. You will not be disappointed. read more

They did a pretty good job when they finally showed up to fix my AC, but then the said that they wouldn't cash the check for the service if I bought a new unit which I promptly did. They also promptly cashed the check and didn't give me credit for the service call on the final bill. Jones Rogers contracted (for the sum of $7,800) to replace my existing two zone, YORK HVAC system with a new, two zone CARRIER, INFINITY system. Unfortunately, I ended up with a "One Zone" System so that one area of my home can essentially not be occupied. The chaotic process began 6/18/14 and ended up with a mix of defective parts and/or an installation by unqualified technicians. And now - February, 2015 -- despite my numerous calls to Jones Rogers -- my complaints have apparently fallen on deaf ears. (From time to time, Jones Rogers indicated a difficulty or inability to contact a knowledgeable or authorized individual at the HVAC manufacturer, CARRIER, to assist in resolving the problem.) I also tried personally to contact Carrier directly, but received no acknowledged responsibility for the problem. From time to time, I have called the holding company of Jones Rogers: Griffiths Energy (in Columbia, Maryland), but to date, my efforts have not resulted in any resolution of my "One zone, instead of two zones," problem. My last -- and least favorable -- resort will be a lawsuit against Jones Rogers/Griffiths Energy. read more
