I ordered a double that came with a large drink and fries for less than $8! The fries were "meh" they're missing some flavor but slather some ketchup on em and you're good to go. This is the only location I have ever had an issue with and I LOVE Griffs! I asked for no onions and added bacon on my burger. I got tons of onions and NO bacon. My son had a kids corn dog meal. My coworkers have been stressing I had to try this small, but DELICIOUS burger joint. One problem I don't eat ground beef however as a TRUE FOODIE I made an exception. I'm very glad I did as this sandwich was OMGoodness!!! (I paid for eating the ground beef later on that night) But that's just how my body reacts to ground beef, nothing to do with the preparation of the burger. When you step inside Griff's of America, I am pretty sure you are actually stepping back into 1965. In a good way. This was our first visit, and we were pleasantly surprised by Griff's. The inside of the restaurant feels like any fast food restaurant dining room...from the 60's. There's a Galaga game in the corner. And people are smoking. Yup, smoking. So do with that what you will. The menu features a variety of hamburgers and hot dogs, along with steak, chicken and fish sandwiches. They had a hot dog menu hanging in the window that featured a "Cheesy Chili Dog" that stated in parentheses "(MEMORABLE)" beneath the item description. Intriguing! They have your standard offering of French fries and onion rings, and they serve Blue Bell ice cream and shakes (bonus!). On this visit, I sampled the "Giant Cheeseburger" combo, which came with a medium fry and a medium drink. The restaurant was crowded during my lunchtime visit, but my meal was ready in under 5 minutes. My burger was served hot, wrapped snugly in a paper sleeve. The hamburger patty was thin but juicy, with just the "right" amount of grease. The burger actually reminded me a lot of Whataburger, in a good way. The lettuce, tomatoes, and chopped onion on my burger tasted noticeably fresh. I was a BIG fan of the fries. I consider fries to be a very personal matter, but Griff's fries did it for me. I imagine them to be somewhat polarizing. They have sort of a thick, crispy texture, much like Checker's fries, only they are not seasoned. They were perfectly salted, and had a great flavor. They hardly required ketchup. Thumbs up. Fiancee got a double cheeseburger combo, and the cost for both of our combos (including drinks) was $11 and change. Very decent! Next time we visit, I might have to try a milkshake. I heard about 15 people order a strawberry milkshake during our visit, so maybe there's something to that. If you don't mind the smokiness factor, give Griff's a try. If the smoke is bothersome to you, they do have a drive through! read more

This is my favorite burger place in Garland! They're super quick, friendly, and the place is relatively clean for a fast food establishment. I always order the giant hamburger with no mustard, and I think it's my favorite fast food place for burgers so far! The portions are huge, I always split my burger and save the other half for a snack later LOL. I also absolutely love the onion rings, they're the perfect texture, perfect temperature, and oh-so-good with their hot sauce I would go there every single day just for their onion rings! I definitely went there at least 3 times these past 2 weeks - my boyfriend and I were obsessed. Definitely recommend trying out their burgers, I love how they're not super greasy and have big portions! They are super cheap as well, my boyfriend and I always order enough to fill us up and to save for later - and we always spend under $15 for the both of us! It wasn't giant in height but the bun was the size of my hand. They lightly salt the fries and offer salt and pepper packets so you can season for taste. Delicious, artery-clogging burgers for cheap! If you're health conscious, do not come here. Too much Griff's will probably significantly decrease your life-span. The grease stains from the food soak through multiple layers of napkins, so don't even bother trying to keep your hands clean. My favorite item is their mushroom melt: burger topped with sauteed mushrooms and onions. I don't think the mushroom melt is a regular item on their menu, but they'll know what you're talking about if you order it. Service is hit-or-miss. But it is a fast food joint, so I no high expectations there. They also recently did some remodeling. The place looks a lot nicer! read more

I have not eaten at a Griffs in a very long time and was surprised to find that it was still VERY tasty!

I actually thought I had reviewed this place because I've been here a few times and based on the trips in the past and just recently this is where the 3 stars comes in. Staff is friendly. Burgers and fries are good. The cleanliness of sitting areas/tables could use some love. I don't know what kind of fighting match may have happened with the condiments and possibly other customers but some of the wallpaper didn't look clean. I wanna ketchup on conversation with my husband at his lunch time not see this on the wallpaper areas. A simple swipe of these areas would make a better presentation of this burger joint. This past visit there was an issue with the freshness of corny dogs. The first one was good but my youngest son wanted another so we ordered a second one, which came fast because it was sitting with a small group under the lamp. When I pulled the corny dog out of the wrapper, the skin was busted and you could see the burned and shriveled, poor, lifeless weenie. Aww dang! So anyhow I asked for another, pulled out the corny dog and again, same thing. So they made the next batch completely fresh vs. grabbing from the lamp. It took awhile to get the corny dog but it was way better. My order had a large fry and drink but I received a small fry. Had to wait on those as well. Great potential because the food is pretty good for the price. The dining experience throws me off and of course the issues I had with our most recent visit. Staff definitely willing to handle the issues though. Listen, I'd love to give a 4, but cleanliness is huge! read more

I say "hopefully" since the other option is that they just don't care. If facial expressions say anything, the drive thru team and manager screamed out "I'm here...what more do you want". BTW, if you use a credit card in the drive thru, you have to SIGN the receipt. How last century.... How many years has it been since you had to sign a receipt in a drive thru any where else? I'm guessing they didn't yet have iPhones.... Just to be clear, there was plenty of time for their antiquated credit card process considering how long I had to wait at the pick up window. Haven't been to Griff's since they closed in Kansas City, KS in 1980s (?). I was in Dallas and was told there were Griff's in the area. I made a beeline to the one in Garland. It was awesome!! Great burger and fries like I remember. Had the chocolate shake which was great. Inexpensive lunch. I feel like no one ever notices this little burger place on Jupiter. Griff's used to be nationwide, but now they're mostly in the south. The headquarters is actually located in Dallas! This location is a little run-down inside, but they also have drive-thru. I think it's worth a try, at least! Especially on days where you don't want the same ol' Mickey Dees or BK. Like their warning sign says: this place might give you a heart attack. But that's what I love about it! Extremely greasy burgers and fries. They have thin patties with chopped lettuce. I am all for cheap, fast burgers. Although Griffs is more close to a 3 stars because it is pretty good, it is just too greasy for me to love. At the moment, I would be eating it and then later I would feel so sick because of all the grease. So me feeling sick? No bueno. I've been coming here since I was a kid, back in the early 90s. They've recently remodeled (August 2012 from the staff's recollection) and it's not the hole in the wall I remember, but still the great taste (AND they still have the old menu, LOVE IT!). Their burgers are so good, maybe a little greasy, but they're just really good old time burgers. The burger seasoning is on point and getting it with mustard is just so good! They even have old time ice (you'll know what I mean when you get there) and their fries are also good. Now that it's renovated, I suppose more people will visit and come to love what I've loved for such a long time, but I enjoyed the hole in the wall that it was. So my fiance had been raving and raving about this place called Griff's. "The burgers are soooo good" "The burgers are sooooo juicy" Blah blah blah So he finally took me today for our 27 month anniversary (ha ha). DANG! These burgers really were good! SO greasy but had so much flavor! I got the #5 combo with jalapenos and mushrooms. The burgers came out super fast and piping hot. I ate more than half of my burger and there was still steam coming out! The patties are smushed thin and I believe I had the double giant. I think my combo came out to like 6 - 7 bucks with a drink and fries which is a pretty good deal. I was stuffed silly with a big smile on my face. At first I thought he was over-exaggerating on how greasy these burgers were but when I was getting to my last bite, the sandwich bread had become translucent. :D The ambiance isn't great but really... do you really care that much for cheap, good burgers? It reminded me of an early Braum's or a Dairy Queen's. Also, somehow, I think they still allow smoking in one half of the room. I'm not sure if that's still legal. Cheap greasy food! Mushrooms on my burger equals yum. Fully customizable and has a good vibe for ordering the food. Went there for the first time a few months ago. I'll go back again, for sure. I'd say the mushrooms are a big draw for me and something I don't believe my other burger favs (Whataburger and Burger Street) don't offer. Dining area isn't the greatest, I'd get it to go. I drove there, ordered a "giant" cheeseburger no lettuce no tomato in the drive-thru and came straight back home. I hadn't eaten much today so I was looking forward to this big, juicy cheeseburger. So much so, I didn't even take it upstairs. I wanted to chow down right there in the parking lot. Well, what I brought home was utter disappointment. This would have to be one of my top favorite burger joint. They have simple burgers with fresh chopped lettuce. I don't know what it is about this place but I always seem to crave for it. Add a side of fries & coke and I'm good to go. You can purchase a meal for under $6ish which is quite a deal as compared to most burger places these days. A gourmet burger today can cost about $7-9 bucks not including fries and a beverage. Sometimes I just crave for a simple, delicious burger.
