    GRILL HOUSE WRAP
    Hannah H.

This is one of the best places in the burbs for food! They are so consistent every time I come in or order carry-out. The service is always fast and the workers are very helpful when dining in the restaurant. It is clean inside which is very much appreciated. The grill is house wrap is one of a kind. I have not found a better wrap that is so consistent all the time. The Gyro meat is delicious as well. Everyone always leaves here very happy.

Easy to get to location with lots of parking. The restaurant is bright and welcoming and has a really nice menu. Service was good when I went up to order as well as table side.Particularly liked the fresh salad or wrap option where you pick a base and add a protein. I ordered the Asian wrap with grilled chicken with curly fries and a soft drink. It was solid but not spectacular. The Asian flavors and crunch I hoped for did not pop. It wasn't bad but just very average. Next time might just order a burger and a beer.

Grill House is located in a corner of a quiet strip mall. We ordered the special $50 family meal online and it came with a ton of food - chicken noodle soup, garlic bread, BBQ chicken, ceasar salad, ribs, green beans, curly fries, pita bread, rice and potatoes - so definitely a good deal for the amount of food given. They have a separate carry out door and I had arrived about 15 minutes earlier, however I was only waiting 5 minutes to get my order. Not surprisingly, the kids loved the curly fries and devoured those up the first. Everything else was good, no major standouts. They also do a lot for giving back to the community with dine outs, so that is always appreciated!

I love it here. They have the best chicken in town. And price is very reasonable. Parking is plenty. And the staff if very friendly.

Always a solid choice for lunch or dinner. Fast casual. Little bit of everything on the menu, salad, sandwiches, soup, burgers...

My husband and I just went for lunch the other day. I love their menu and the variety of options! I love turned their salads into wraps. So far my favorite salad to wraps are the caprese or village salad wrap. Their family packs are also a great fast dinner option during the week! Everyone is so friendly there and it's great do dine in there as well. It's very warm and welcoming. We definitely think will be a great dinner on a busy work night!

Came in to grab lunch here today. The place is located in a mall and parking is not a problem. As you walk in you get fast food vibes right away. Tables later out in the main area, louder atmosphere. Order at the counter and they bring out the food to you it seems. First thing I noticed is the prices. Right off the bat these are not your typical lunch prices. You'll be spending over $20 for lunch. Sandwiches don't come with fries unless specified. So if you order a chicken sandwich ($11) plus fries and drink you're looking at over $20. I feel that a bit steep. In any case I dished out $25 for the skirt steak sandwich which comes with waffle fries. My co-worker got the chicken sandwich. The skirt steak was ok, but nothin I'm craving to eat again. It was smothered in some sweet bbq sauce no specific seasoning in the steak. The toasted garlic bread it comes on was nice. My co-worker said his chicken sandwich was good. Nice char flavor but he had to get more mayo or sauce on it as it was a bit dry. Overall I wasn't too impressed, nothing really stood out. I found the process to be bit on the high end, could be just the neighborhood but the value isn't there for me. If I do go back I should try the gyro, maybe that's what they are known for.

The pasta we ordered was also good came with the sausage it was the sausage rigatoni with sausage. However, as…read morethe day approached, the weather forecast consistently called for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and possible flash flooding. We decided it was not a good idea to drive to an unfamiliar area in inclement weather and canceled the reservation on Friday night. We were fortunate that Social Inn is close by and is a great restaurant for celebratory dining. Best of all, they still had reservation available. As it turned out, it was just light rain the entire evening on Father's Day, but we didn't regret the change at all. Although the restaurant was not filled to capacity, it was bustling with many families celebrating Father's Day, creating a festive vibe. It's the first time that we met the owner, Daniella, who's so warm and welcoming. She invited us to choose from available tables in three different dining areas. We selected the table right by the lounge that had a large TV, homey décor, couch and cocktail table. It was also right by the big window overlooking the small and charming front patio. Our server, Chis, was very friendly, pleasant, and attentive. I ordered a Lemonade ($3), my husband and daughter each enjoyed a glass of Mer Soliel Reserve Chardonnay (2 for $26). We shared a Grilled Octopus ($22) which was cooked to perfection. The warm, lightly charred pita points paired well with the creamy and tasty beet hummus. I had a Slow Roasted Lamb Shank ($39) which was tender and full of flavors. It was a very generous portion that I shared a big piece with my husband; and still had leftovers to take home. It made a delicious lamb sandwich for my next lunch. My husband liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) so much last time that he ordered it again. Our daughter enjoyed her order of Rigatoni Sausage ($23), another generously portioned dish that she couldn't quite finish. By the end of the meal, we were too full for individual desserts, so we shared a Crème Brûlée ($8), which was the perfect sweet ending. All in all, it was a wonderful dinner. With consistent delicious dishes, warm hospitality, comfortable seating, and a convenient location, we will definitely be back again.

We arrived around 6:30 pm, and the outdoor terrace was completely packed. Since the restaurant is first-come, first-served with no host or hostess, it was quite chaotic. Even the indoor dining area was almost full. We initially sat inside for about 10 minutes without being greeted, then moved outside when we noticed a table becoming available. We were prepared for a slow evening, but after another 20 minutes outside, we were still waiting. A young male server came by and spent about 10 minutes taking an order from a group of five who had just sat down, while we had already been waiting for about 30 minutes. He then disappeared without taking our order. There were only two of us at a larger table, but I was happy to be there for the beautiful golf-course view, especially I wanted to photograph our food with the scenery in the background. I certainly didn't expect special treatment, but I did expect to be acknowledged and treated fairly. A few minutes later, a waitress named Karyna whose station was on the other side came over and asked whether anyone had helped us and whether we were "staying." I was surprised by the question after we had already been waiting so long. I explained what had happened, and she apologized and took our order. My husband ordered the Blackened Grilled Atlantic Salmon with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables ($28), along with an Ebb + Flow Chardonnay ($13). He is a seafood lover and thought both were okay, although neither was particularly memorable. The $10 Chardonnay he originally wanted was unavailable. I ordered the Reuben with corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, Thousand Island dressing on the side, and toasted multigrain bread ($15), with tater tots and a lemonade. The Reuben was delicious -- hot, generously portioned, and served on wonderfully crispy toasted bread. I took half of it home. The tater tots were crunchy, although only lukewarm. The $3 lemonade was essentially a fountain drink, which explained the low price. They don't serve desserts, so that's something to keep in mind. Once our order was taken, the service improved considerably. Another waitress brought our food with a cheerful "Happy Friday!" Both waitresses were genuinely sweet and checked on us several times to make sure we were happy. Near the end of our meal, the young server came back to apologize and later offered us a 20% discount. Since he apologized, I won't mention his name. I appreciated that he acknowledged the problem and tried to make things right, although the initial experience had already left a bad taste in my mouth. The terrace itself is lovely, with beautiful golf-course views and the potential to be a very relaxing place to dine. However, on a busy Friday evening it was extremely noisy, with many families and children moving between the tables. There was also live music at the other end of the terrace, although it was difficult to hear because of the surrounding noise. By the time we walked over after dinner, the performance had just ended, but I did get a photo of the friendly singer, Scott Birchwood, who told me he performs at local venues and festivities. Despite the rocky beginning, we ultimately had an enjoyable evening. The beautiful setting, generous portions, delicious Reuben, and genuinely friendly waitresses made up for some of the initial frustrations. Overall, I think Acorn Grill + Terrace has a lot of potential. I would recommend coming on a quieter evening if you want a more relaxed experience. We enjoyed ourselves enough that I would be willing to return.

Then, we discovered that the McDonald's which had been on this location for decades had permanently closed! What did we do? We visited the Love's Yogurt right next to it instead. The yogurt store was empty at this off-peak time. My husband struck a conversation with Henry, who had been the owner of the store for 18 years. He was very friendly and said that Love's had opened at this location for 38 years! It was the first time that we ever visited! Why? Because when there was a McDonald's right next to a yogurt shop, we chose McDonald's, haha. I looked at their menu board and saw smoothies, and I thought they were $6.50 each. I ordered a Henry's Special Smoothie which included mango, pineapple, coconut with pineapple juice and Love's French Vanilla Yogurt. My husband ordered a small vanilla yogurt for $4.05. The receipt came up to $13.77, with no itemization, just one total amount. Then I politely asked Henry, and found out that Henry's Special was $8.50. Henry's Special did not have a price on the small smoothie menu, and it was not on the wall menu board. When I looked at the picture that I took of the menu board at home, I noticed that all the other smoothies seemed to be originally $6.50, but at some points in time the prices were manually changed with an 8 written over 6, and the one on the top line still looked like a 6 to me from a distance. Forgive my less than perfect vision. I found that kind of funny. Before Henry went inside to prepare my smoothie, he was brushing away some debris on the countertop with his bare hands. I did not see him wearing gloves the entire time. Well, like a Chinese saying, "if you don't see it, just consider it being clean", haha. The Henry's Special was pretty good. It's creamy, sweet but not too sweet, and every sip had coconut bits in it. I just wish that the mango flavor could be a little stronger. Husband said that his yogurt was standard. It was a surprise that they also sell other savory items such as soups, salads, sandwiches, and wraps. The shop was clean and rather nostalgic looking. Henry said that McDonald's next door closed because the landlord increased their rent 2 to 3 folds. He said that they still have 20 months left on their lease, and hope that the rent would not increase too much. Otherwise, he would have to retire too. I hope not.
