We ordered the ground beef moussaka, and the lamb skewer along with the side of fries. Ground beef Mousaka was really Comforting and good. I would say one of the better moussaka that I've had. I like that it had ground beef as it's usually a vegetarian dish. It made the dish more hearty. My husband liked his lamp skewers. His only complaint was the uneven cook on the lamb. Some pieces were really really tender, and some pieces were overcooked. Service was great, but I feel like if it was a full house, they would need more servers. Grill Santa Rosa is a large, Greek-Turkish restaurant located just outside Santa Rosa Plaza Mall. Look for the big, white statue of an outstretched hand. Zero street parking so park in one of the nearby big mall lots. The restaurant inside is decorative with all those colorful Turkish lamps hanging from the ceilings. We were surprised it was not busy for dinner. The food we ordered was very good. Chicken Shish Kebab was well-seasoned and the meat was moist. Branzino was a big, skin-on filet and likewise moist. Octopus salad was good though we wished for more octopus and less salad. Baba Ganoush was good though a bit more watery than we're used too. Note they only have fried chicken tenders for kid's menu and no cocktail menu. Instead, I got a nice glass of Greek Rose. They seem to have a good takeout business. Overall 4 stars. read more

This is a gem at the mall! Location is at the front of the mall by the hand. Very friendly and attentive staff serving Mediterranean food. Started with the hummus which was delicious! A generous portion served warm with pita. The falafel wrap was also great...not overly fried with great sauce. The lamb kabobs were disappointing, dry and flavorless and salad side lacking a lemony dressing (or acidity). Also, no kunefe but they did comp us with baklava. The server and co owner did take the time and effort to came by to apologize for lack of supplies to make the kunefe. So we will need to return! read more

I forgot I reviewed this place two years ago. Interestingly enough I was about to give this place a copycat review :) Place is not bad if you do not have high expectations. Food is tasty and fresh. Babaganush and Tabbouleh is definitely a recommendation. My Kebab was a bit overdone but my wife's was cooked just right. Coffee was a disappointment but I am a coffee snob, so for someone else it may not be an issue. Nice to know that in two years the place did not drop the quality. read more

The service here was fantastic. They were kind, patient and helpful. A family member couldn't decide on a chicken or prawn kabob plate. Since the plates come with two skewers, our server offered to just swap one skewer with a prawn one so that we didn't have to pay for two plates. The food was alright. Nothing too crazy flavor-wise. I got the lamb kabob plate. It wasn't the best I ever had. The plate came with flat bread, hummus and salad. The hummus was subtle in flavor and the flat bread had a nice crunch that I don't usually get from other places. The space itself was pretty clean. My partner ordered a lamb and beef gyro on pita, and I a grilled veggies plate with lentil soup. I also got falafel and tzatziki to share and test things out. Everything felt somewhat lazy or off personally. The gyro on pita, not much meat, more filler to take up space, and everything tossed around quickly. The grilled veggies plate had no flavor/salt, the hummus had no character whatsoever, and the salad was plain. The falafel was grainy with a relatively dry consistency. The tzatziki was ok with a light herbiness to it but nothing to write home about. And that lentil soup needed more salt and was more tomato based rather than something leaning on traditional. Not what was expected, and didn't work well for my tastes. Price to satisfaction was low. Ingredients were cooked well but it lost the battle on so many other fronts. read more

Absolutely loved this place! We originally couldn't find it because maps showed it inside the shopping plaza but it is right on the outside close to the hand sculpture. The inside is cute, the walls all have murals which is nice to look at. The service is a little slow, there weren't many tables eating at the time but there only seemed to be one or two people taking care of the orders but very friendly service. Tried Grill recently after hearing a lot of praise for their food. We came late on Saturday night, but they were still welcoming, seated us, and were very attentive. We decided to try the Meza Plate and the Combo Shish Kebab plate to get a good overview of thier offering. The Meza plate had dolmas, hummus, baba ganoush, taboulleh, falafel, and tzatziki - which was a great spread! The Kebab plate had lamb, beef, chicken, and their Kofte. My favorite was the kofte - it was the hottest on the plate, and was tender, and very flavorful. We loved it! The service was attentive, and everything came out promptly, which was nice. I always enjoy eating hot foods when they are HOT. The atmosphere is a little "mall", and the patio outside is nice enough - but its pretty much right on A Street. When it comes down to it- the food tastes great, seems fresh, and served promptly. This was my second time visiting this restaurant. The first time was 3 or 4 years ago when they first opened. I remembered the place being much better than it is now. So don't let the location deter you from coming here for some good Turkish style food. Barbara S. ate the combo salmon and shrimp seafood plate. I had the combo beef / chicken / lamb gyro plate. The generous portion lunch included pita bread, rice and a salad. All was tasty. The owner guys were friendly and helpful. The patio area allows dogs to accompany their humans. What a find! Whan an accidental, fantastic find! Hubby and I were heading into the plaza and noticed this "new" restaurant, so we went over to look at the menu. The owner was coming out at the same time and encouraged us to just give it a try...so we did. The name didn't give a clue to the Mediterranean options waiting inside. (BTW, they're changing the name but it's not what we thought so I'll update when I know for sure.) First impressions were so positive due to the friendly staff. So welcoming and helpful as he guided us through their menu. Order at the counter, find a seat. Interior is unremarkable but it is a large space with lots of potential. Heater wasn't working but space heaters were available. Kinks definitely need to be worked out in this area. That said, I didn't seem to care once the food arrived. Hummus was so creamy and had great flavor! Lovely compliment to the abundant grilled pita. Over the repeat visits, we've tried a variety of skewers- chicken, salmon, shrimp, kofte - all good, and hard to choose just one! Falafels... oh gosh... I have to rein myself in with these! A little TZATZIKI with the ball of crisp fried chickpea goodness... Dolmas. Mmm. One of my favorite parts of the meal is the "simple" rice with chickpeas. The side salad is always flavorful and dressed well. Lentil soup was not my favorite but maybe because my brain thinks more Indian flavor profile. Last visit we brought my mom and despite our encouragement to stay in the restaurant's lane, she ordered a BURGER. I rolled my eyes but she ate every single bite, declaring it delicious. I had a couple fries (which I dipped in hummus - sacrilege) and it was tasty! :) Each visit ends with a sweet treat. The chocolate baklava has been my favorite. A little goes a LONG way. One of my favorite foods on the planet is kunefe/kanefeh, so hubby is always trying to find it for me. After a day out in SR, he found Grill and we made our way over for an early dinner. I was somewhat unsure about the location, being in the mall, but we were able to park on the street across from the mall and make the short walk over which was preferable to me than parking at the mall which is a mad house. When we arrived, we were the only ones there, and were greeted by Ali who was warm and friendly. We ordered the cold meze plate for me ($17.99), the lamb and beef gyro for him ($13.99) a kunefe ($7.99) AND a baklava ($6.99) because yolo. We sat outside since it was a nice warm evening, and waited for our food. While waiting, we interacted with multiple possibly homeless/transient/transitionally homed persons, who all seemed to be having an active mental health concern, under the influence, or a combo of each. I felt sad about this since it was a reminder of the challenging time our county is having with social services, and it was also a challenge for the overall experience of the meal as well. Our food arrived pretty fast, and truthfully, it was fine. There was nothing bad with the entrees, but they just weren't anything to get very excited about. Sadly, the thing that we came for, the kunefe, was the worst part of the meal- soggy/ oily, and only moderately warm. Trader Joe's sells these for $4 (half the cost of them here) and they're better coming from TJ's pre-made and warmed up in my own kitchen. The baklava was also not super impressive due to muted flavors, and was not my favorite. We enjoyed the experience of interacting with Ali and I think we met the other owner as we were leaving, and he was nice as well. That said, the food seemed somewhat on the bland side, and the desserts especially needed a little extra oomph for my tastes. I was a little iffy about going to a restaurant attached to the mall but this place exceeded my expectations! What a gem! The staff was extremely nice and hospitable. The outside was also surprisingly clean for a downtown outdoor dining experience. My friend and I both had the combo kabab plates. The food was delicious and well priced. My friend who has been to Turkey said the food was reminiscent of the food he had there. The chicken was still juicy, the lamb was tinder, and the rest of the meat was cooked perfectly. Don't be fooled by its simplicity. This eatery is a gastronomical gem. According to tradition, the shish kebab dish was invented by medieval soldiers who used their swords to grill meat over open fires. In Turkey, shish kebab does not normally contain vegetables, though they may be cooked on a separate skewer. I want my meat shish kebab and vegetable shish kebab grilled on separate skewers to ensure the meat is properly cooked. We tried their outdoor seating. Because I planned to take some home, I had Sides A La Carte of 2 Grilled Chicken Skewers at $14.95, 2 Grilled Lamb Skewers at 16.95, 2 Grilled Beef Skewers at $15.95, and Tzatziki Greek Yoguty, Cucumber, Dill, Dried Mint, and Garlic, served with a pita at $9.95. I didn't end up with as much to take-home as I expected. The portions served were smaller than I'd anticipated. Shrinkflation strikes again : - ( Food, customer service, setting, décor, cleanliness, and following cdc rules was all adequate. Business, as are so many businesses, is struggling in an infectious disease world; and labor, supplies and water shortage world. What this business did though in stark contrast to many businesses I've frequented lately: No automatic gratuity was added to our bill; (we just don't pay any added automatic gratuity or merchant fees as we pay only for what we had bargained for upfront and received) No one here offered to commit fraud to reward us, pay us or compensate us for posting 5 star reviews of this business. They made two mistakes with our very simple order and never fixed it despite the reminder. When I personally went back inside to remind them again about what we had already paid for, after a good wait, they handed someone else's order to me without a word. No regret, no appreciation.
