They have a tiny sign hidden behind the water faucet, so small that I didn't see it in two visits to the place. About 20 minutes in, I was made aware of the no laptop rule and put it off to the side. At this point I hadn't even finished drinking my coffee or eating my pastry. As soon as I was done with them, the same boss lady came over and basically asked me to leave because "there were families looking for a table." She even had the audacity to tell me to "read the room." At this point it had been 42 minutes since I entered the establishment and about a half hour since I received my order. I was seated at the smallest table in the place and not taking up much space at all. It would have been tough for even two people to squeeze in to the table where I was seated. Adding insult to injury, in between my two interactions with the boss, a customer rudely asked when I would be leaving. It took all my strength to politely offer to share the table with her, but she just said she wanted the whole thing to herself. So in the span of about 20-25 minutes I had 3 separate conversations trying to justify my existence at this tiny table. It was unreal and I honestly thought I may have been on some hidden camera television show. This place basically wants to take your money and then rush you out so they can get more people in there. I understand the obvious dollars and cents motivation for this, but it's crass and callous and completely unbecoming of even a small town coffee shop. I travel about 200 days a year and I've been to literally hundreds of terrible coffee shops, but I've never in my life been treated this poorly as a paying customer. Maybe just place a big sign informing everyone of a time limit on how long they can sit. Or at least tell the guy who walks in with a laptop bag and blatantly sets up his laptop that he can't hang out there (like I said I was unaware of the policy so obviously wasn't hiding anything). I would have paid double, even treble, to just be informed in advance so I could patronize a different local business in Whistler and avoid that experience.

The staff were friendly and service was very quick! There was never a wait and we sat at the stools where the chefs prepared all the food each time. It was very neat to see all of our food prepared in front of us. We went about 3 times while we stayed in Whistler and each time was better than the last! Yes one person managing the customers but I honestly felt she had time to pick up the dishes around other tables and ask if we needed any coffee or water. There were no other customers after us that came in. The few that did walk in were told the restaurant was closed. There was one syrup container and that my son had to ask to barrow from the other table still finishing up the meal. The potatoes on our plate seemed like they were from a frozen bag and reheated on a pan, no taste or seasoning on them. Sausages were not seasoned and no flavor to them. The pictures on the previous reviews do not compare or come close to what we were served. We scanned the menu which included typical breakfast options such as eggs, bacon, ham and sausage, breakfast sandwiches as well as omelettes. I unfortunately have a gluten allergy (celiac) and asked the server if they had gluten free toast (which they have but do not offer it on the menu). The hash-browns unfortunately are tossed in flour before deep frying (which was not listed on the menu) so I was given the alternative to have French fries (which were fried in the same oil) and I didn't necessarily want French fries for breakfast. When the food arrived my brother in laws breakfast sandwich smelt and tasted sour. It was the ham that was on the sandwich so he did not finish the sandwich. My eggs were cooked fine, but definitely at their expiration date. We are travelling from Ontario and have eaten so many amazing meals while visiting and this one did not meet the expectations that we have. Hopefully this will help the owners and staff to make the improvements they so desperately need moving forward.

In the end I got the cheeky monkey - pecan and banana sticky bun. I forgot the whole place is sourdough based baked goods (my assumption now) and thought the sticky bun tasted a bit off. The sour taste threw me off. I guess if you love sourdough (I do but I guess not as much as I thought), you will like everything in here. The sticky bun is probably great for people who love a bit of sourness in their baked goods. I just want a regular sticky bun which is softer and like a cloud. This version is not. It's also not as sweet as other sticky buns. Blah to me but probably manna to others. Tip on parking. More spots on the ground (time limit) than the underground (no time limit).
