They have a tiny sign hidden behind the water faucet, so small that I didn't see it in two visits to the place. About 20 minutes in, I was made aware of the no laptop rule and put it off to the side. At this point I hadn't even finished drinking my coffee or eating my pastry. As soon as I was done with them, the same boss lady came over and basically asked me to leave because "there were families looking for a table." She even had the audacity to tell me to "read the room." At this point it had been 42 minutes since I entered the establishment and about a half hour since I received my order. I was seated at the smallest table in the place and not taking up much space at all. It would have been tough for even two people to squeeze in to the table where I was seated. Adding insult to injury, in between my two interactions with the boss, a customer rudely asked when I would be leaving. It took all my strength to politely offer to share the table with her, but she just said she wanted the whole thing to herself. So in the span of about 20-25 minutes I had 3 separate conversations trying to justify my existence at this tiny table. It was unreal and I honestly thought I may have been on some hidden camera television show. This place basically wants to take your money and then rush you out so they can get more people in there. I understand the obvious dollars and cents motivation for this, but it's crass and callous and completely unbecoming of even a small town coffee shop. I travel about 200 days a year and I've been to literally hundreds of terrible coffee shops, but I've never in my life been treated this poorly as a paying customer. Maybe just place a big sign informing everyone of a time limit on how long they can sit. Or at least tell the guy who walks in with a laptop bag and blatantly sets up his laptop that he can't hang out there (like I said I was unaware of the policy so obviously wasn't hiding anything). I would have paid double, even treble, to just be informed in advance so I could patronize a different local business in Whistler and avoid that experience.

The burger was quite small and significantly overcooked, which was especially surprising for a restaurant known for its burgers. On the positive side, the service was very friendly and welcoming, and the outdoor patio was a really nice setting. Overall, this was a 3.5-star experience for us. Since half stars aren't an option, we're rounding down to 3 rather than up to 4 because the cheeseburger--the main reason we came here--was such a disappointment.

My favorites from this platter were the brisket (so tender and just the right amount of smokiness) and the chicken wings with dry rub (fried to crispy perfection). The ribs and pulled pork were also really good, but since I prefer my barbecue without sauce, these didn't appeal to me as much as the brisket. I also liked the fresh and tasty mixed greens salad that we got as one of our sides--very balanced and delicious. The staff are super friendly here. Our waiter checked on us several times and even the chef came out to see if we liked the food. It was a wonderful lunch. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and clearly doing her best, but it was obvious something was seriously wrong in the kitchen. Other tables were already complaining about long wait times before we had even ordered. We ordered the Chicken & Waffles and the Waffle Sandwich. About 20 minutes later, our waitress came back to tell us they couldn't make poached eggs, so they would have to substitute scrambled eggs instead. Odd, but we agreed because we had a flight to catch and didn't have time to find another restaurant. Another 20 minutes passed. At that point we'd already been waiting 40 minutes, so we asked for an honest estimate. The waitress checked with the kitchen and came back saying our food would be out in three minutes. It wasn't. Another 20 minutes passed. After waiting a full hour, our meals finally arrived. They were honestly shocking. My Chicken & Waffles looked like frozen Eggo-style waffles topped with frozen breaded chicken strips and a few sprigs of arugula. My wife's Waffle Sandwich was essentially two frozen waffles with bacon and scrambled eggs thrown together. It looked and tasted like something made from the frozen food aisle, not something you'd expect from a restaurant in Whistler. We spoke with our waitress, who was genuinely apologetic. She admitted they'd been having major problems in the kitchen and explained there was no manager on duty, so she wasn't authorized to remove the meals from our bill or offer any meaningful resolution. None of this was her fault. She remained pleasant and professional throughout what was clearly a very difficult shift. We didn't want to take our frustration out on her, so we paid the bill despite barely touching our food. Between the one-hour wait, the poor communication, the frozen-quality food, and the complete lack of management, this was easily one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had in Whistler. I sincerely hope the owners address what's happening in the kitchen because the front-of-house staff deserve much better support than they're getting.

There seems to be a local loyal following of people coming here to the food truck for coffee, which I suppose says something since there's a Tim Horton's and another 2 cafes down the road. Major props to the family stuck in this box kitchen cranking out food all day -- respect the craft and the hustle!
