no line ups at % arabica in whistler, which made this an easy stop while wandering around whistler…read morevillage. this japanese coffee brand started in kyoto and has grown into a global name, with locations around the world. the whistler location opened in 2024 as its first british columbia outpost and third canadian location. the design is a big part of the appeal. the space has a minimalist, geodesic inspired look with curved white forms that are meant to evoke ice caves, snowdrifts and the surrounding alpine landscape. it feels very clean and futuristic without looking out of place in whistler. % arabica is known for putting just as much emphasis on design as coffee, with each location taking inspiration from its surroundings. the whistler shop also roasts beans on site and serves espresso drinks, specialty lattes, drip coffee and matcha. went with an iced matcha latte with oat milk. refreshing, creamy and a nice little pick me up while exploring the village. definitely a worthwhile stop for the combination of coffee culture, interesting design and that very whistler setting, especially when there's no line up.

stopped by purebread twice during the week, and it was interesting to see how different the…read moreexperience could be depending on the day and time. there are two purebread locations in whistler, the village location right by olympic plaza and the original location down in function junction. the bakery started with mark and paula lamming selling their homemade baking at the whistler farmers' market before opening their first storefront in function junction in 2010. since then, it's grown from a small local bakery into a well known bc brand, with a huge rotating selection of sweet and savoury baked goods. and there's a lot more than croissants here. purebread is known for its ever changing selection of scones, cookies, brownies and dessert bars, savoury pastries, pies, toasties, cakes and breads, so there's usually plenty to tempt you even if your first and second choice is sold out. on friday, we stopped by before 11:30 am and there was already a line up, but thankfully the wait wasn't too bad. we picked up an ooey gooey chocolate chip bar and a chocolate almond croissant, both very solid choices. by comparison, a late monday afternoon visit had no line up at all, which was a completely different experience from the weekend crowds that can stretch right out the door. the catch with coming later in the day? there weren't any croissants left. there were also quite a few flies hovering over the baked goods, which wasn't ideal, but otherwise it was an easy stop for a pastry and coffee in the village. definitely worth going earlier if you're after the popular pastries, especially the croissants. the monday afternoon visit was great for skipping the line, but the friday morning stop proved that sometimes the line is there for a reason.

I was seated at the smallest table in the place and not taking up much space at all. It would have been tough for even two people to squeeze in to the table where I was seated. Adding insult to injury, in between my two interactions with the boss, a customer rudely asked when I would be leaving. It took all my strength to politely offer to share the table with her, but she just said she wanted the whole thing to herself. So in the span of about 20-25 minutes I had 3 separate conversations trying to justify my existence at this tiny table. It was unreal and I honestly thought I may have been on some hidden camera television show. This place basically wants to take your money and then rush you out so they can get more people in there. I understand the obvious dollars and cents motivation for this, but it's crass and callous and completely unbecoming of even a small town coffee shop. I travel about 200 days a year and I've been to literally hundreds of terrible coffee shops, but I've never in my life been treated this poorly as a paying customer. Maybe just place a big sign informing everyone of a time limit on how long they can sit. Or at least tell the guy who walks in with a laptop bag and blatantly sets up his laptop that he can't hang out there (like I said I was unaware of the policy so obviously wasn't hiding anything). I would have paid double, even treble, to just be informed in advance so I could patronize a different local business in Whistler and avoid that experience.

I'd definitely recommend it if you enjoy a strong latte that's not too sweet. They also sell sandwiches and baked goods. I was really tempted to try the giant oatmeal cookie, but I noticed a fly roaming around on top of it, which quickly changed my mind. The café itself is pretty small, with only a few tables inside, but there's plenty of outdoor seating and lots of places to relax around Whistler Village. One downside is that they don't have outlets available for charging cell phones.

He was a little leary of where the Kangaroo came from, but we were told there is a farm in British Columbia that raises them, so he wanted to try something he had never had. The pie is filled with ground kangaroo, and I mean ground, it was fine meat and stuffed full with a Cabernet Merlot Balsamic Reduction that balanced the sweetness of the meat. The service was great, the staff was nice, and helpful. Great choice. NOTE: I received a correction from the owner of Peaked Pies after posting this review. The Kangaroo is not sourced from British Columbia as we were told. While the food was excellent this was disappointing to hear. Mr. B specifically asked where the kangaroo was sourced as he didn't want frozen and would have ordered something else. We also had their waffle, raspberry lemon bread, and chocolate macadamia nut banana bread from a local bakery. The other side of the shop has clothes and random knickknacks to browse while you wait for your drink. I guess my expectations were a little too high and my eyes ordered more than I should have. Ordered 2 cinnamon rolls and a long John. I was quite disappointed in both. The cinnamon rolls were quite dry and not enough ooey gooey cinnamon, butter and sugar filling. The frosting doesn't quite melt either. It was only when you got to the center was when the cinnamon rolls were soft with filling. The other parts are just dry and flavorless. The long John was also underwhelming. They used the same frosting as the cinnamon rolls inside the long John. I guess I'm used to more of a custard filling. Sadly, I'm still in search of a great cinnamon roll in Whistler.

We thought it was a fluke because of a recent Pemberton Fire with a lot of employees living there, etc. Then we went back tonight at 6 PM again for dessert and they were closed again. Two employees are in there, but the lights are off and they won't answer the door. There's a big sign that says they're open till 7 PM every day. It's the owner's choice what time she chooses to stay open till, but your signage needs to reflect your actual hours consistently. Also, your Yelp hours need to be accurate too. People drive all the way over here and pay for parking and then you're closed. It's extremely disappointing and I've been supporting your business since around 2007.
