I understand that cocktails can be a matter of personal taste though so others may feel differently. For my meal, I ordered the brick chicken which is a grilled chicken thigh with potatoes and green beans. The chicken was a little underseasoned and undercooked, the potatoes were unfortunately not fully cooked either, and the green beans had a flavor that seemed off. Overall, I had a very poor experience with the food this time around. The highlight of the evening was our server, who was friendly, attentive, and did a great job throughout our visit. He recommended the cocktail, and while it wasn't for me, I appreciated his service and hospitality. I'm hoping this was just an off night because the server did tell me that the day I went was the first day with their new menu. I'd be willing to give it another try in the future, but I left feeling pretty disappointed this time around.

I met the owner and chatted with him for a while... it was very cool to hear the story of how him and his wife started the place, while trying their beer which was very good. It was bursting with flavor and was nicely balanced between savory and sweet. I also really loved the Parisian and want to try the other sandwich options. I'm excited to see how their concept evolves! The little market area is super cute and they have lots of tinned fish, cookbooks, wine, snacks, and more. We ordered arancini as a starter that came out tasting crisp like a tator tot, but the shape and taste actually reminded me more of a fried tteokbokki (Korean rice noodle) known for its deliciousness through its texture highlighting the spicy sauce. This would've been amazing had they had a nice gochujang mayo combo to dip this crispy treasure in, rather than ranch and pizza sauce. Next we tried the tikka masala pizza. Fun and inventive idea... much better than the naan pizza I had in Muskegon... however the sauce didn't taste as good as my homemade tikka masala base and though the pizza was tasty with varied texture, we found it somewhat lacked seasoning especially on the protein. If I were to construct it, instead of potato I would've had chicken, red pepper, cilantro, fresh avocado and pickled onion. Yum! While we understand they were closing in about an hour, the way we were treated felt unprofessional. We ordered one sandwich--the Hash Slingin' Slasher--and handed over our card to start a tab. From the start, we felt unwelcome. We sat in a corner and were being stared at by other customers, who appeared to be regulars & family members. The difference in treatment between them and us was striking. Most concerning was the young bartender, whose behavior was clearly unprofessional. She was rude and dismissive toward us, yet extremely friendly, upbeat, and attentive to everyone else. This made the atmosphere tense and uncomfortable for first-time guests. Around 7:06 PM, an older couple arrived. The staff greeted them warmly with smiles and even hugs. They had no issues ordering food, were asked about drinks, and were made to feel welcome. Meanwhile, we were rushed, ignored, and never asked about drinks. When I went up to order a mocktail, a bottle of peach sangria to go, and a box for our sandwich, all conversation stopped. Multiple regulars & family members turned and stared at me--it wasn't subtle. My fiancée noticed it too. It didn't feel like a "closing soon" situation; it felt exclusionary. We had stopped by once before near closing time and met Nicholas, who was very kind--that's why we came back. Sadly, his kindness couldn't overcome the unprofessional behavior and uncomfortable atmosphere. The canned meads are excellent, the bottled wines are solid, and the food itself was good, but the overall experience left us feeling unwelcome.
