I ordered a beef tortellini today in a 1/2 gallon... Got home and it was cheese.... I called... They told me it was impossible, the only had beef. I had left over beef tortellini from the Moline location, from lunch, and it was definitely different. The guy who answered the phone, told me I was wrong. No solution..... Very disappointing. It was weird but I am sure I saw the cheese tortellini on the Lentin menu at the register. Good food when it is right, but I am very offended that they felt I was lying. Check you inventory you in fact do have cheese tortellini... I know this because it is nasty and now I have an entire tub of it in my fridge. Use the Bettendorf or Moline locations! This place was a staple for me in college, as it is right down the road from St. Ambrose University. Also, it's very cheap! Cheap is always good for college kids. Aside from those two good qualities, I love this place because the food is great. It's pretty simple in presentation, but it's always enjoyable. I'm a big fan of their ravioli and tortellini. Their garlic bread! Oh, don't get me started on that. I'm pretty sure I could eat an entire loaf (or two) of that in one sitting. It's so, so good! The presentation is pretty simple. Food is served on Styrofoam plates. The decor of the restaurant itself could use some updating. It's definitely not trying to a be a fancy restaurant in there. Food is ordered by walking up to a window (which can make for a long line when they are busy). After ordering, you are given a number and you pick out your own table from whatever is available. The wait for your food is usually pretty short, so that's a definite bonus. Overall, this is a great place for a quick and cheap lunch or dinner. The food is very good, but the restaurant leaves a bit to be desired. It's not terrible or junky, it just needs some work. read more

The spaghetti was ok. Not great, but just ok. None of us meat eaters could find the meat in the meat sauce. The fettuccine Alfredo was awful. My daughter ordered it, because she is a vegetarian and said the sauce tasted like cream of chicken soup, NOT Alfredo! We all tasted it and agreed-- chicken!! The garlic and cinnamon bread were fine. I was really impressed by the food at Grinder's - didn't expect it to be so good just from looking at the appearance. Unfortunately, the past two times I have been to Grinder's I have found hair in my spaghetti. The first time I thought it was just a freak accident. I was there again and had the same problem. Absolutely delicious every time I get it! Drove 2 1/2 hours from home to Davenport because I had such a craving! Authentic homemade Italian meat sauce and homemade bread like no other. Very affordable! Fed & filled 5 adults for under $40 and as always was very well taken care of by the polite owners. I love grinders and there lunch special, but when I called to place the order for there lunch special it was 1:50 and it ends at 2:00. I was putting the order into go, the guy over the phone decides to argue with me and asks me will I be there by 2? And I said I was putting the order to go in before 2:00, and would be there to get it once it was cooked. He continued to argue with me telling me that I had to be there by 2:00 or I couldn't get the deal. He told me he couldn't allow me to get the lunch special unless I was there by 2:00. I tried explaining I was getting it to go not to dine in, and he still argued with me. If you have a lunch special tell 2:00 it should be tell 2:00, not 1:50 or 1:45. read more

Service is and always has been slow. And never attentive to their customers. It had ONE person dining in, and had 7 dirty tables. No one ever greets you, "employees" just stand around and stare at you. I've loved the food since I was a teenager. I love the bread here. Whenever I'm back in town I always eat here at least once. Good food at good prices. My favorite is still the pizza bread, but the pasta is good and you get it in good portions. read more

My first time at this restaurant and while my lasagna was excellent, the service was nonexistent. Plus my dinner was served on a paper plate and my drink in a styrofoam cup. Very disappointing way to enjoy my dinner. I will not be returning. Went here for lunch today for the first time at this location. I won't go back. Service was awful...the person who brought out our food was rude. She gave another table my cheese bread, which no one there ordered. The portion size was different than their other locations. Ordered a half a loaf of cinnamon bread and got a fourth of a loaf. Meal came in parts...spaghetti first, brought me garlic I asked for cheese bread, then I finally got that and still hadn't received my cinnamon bread. So disappointed! Ordered carry out 2 beef ravioli alacart and garlic cheese bread. Got home and discovered that the bread was like rubber, and the ravioli looked old and dry. Called to inform them of the mishap, and was told to return the food for a refund. ... In no way was offered an opportunity to correct the defect. So I return to the restaurant to find 8 people in line ahead of me to add to the dismay and frustration, had to wait 15 min. After inspecting the inedible untouched food I was refunded my money with a rude comment " sorry it didn't work out". If I could give zero stars I would. Next time I will make the 30 min trip to Bettendorf Grinders where I have always had a great experience. Beware of the W Locust location read more
