The calamari was tiny. My uncles prime rib was all fat. My moms spinach salad with chicken was old, hot and wet with dressing. My steak was medium well instead of medium rare. While dinning with my family the manager on duty-I believe his name was Gus allowed a gentleman that was entire under the influence or mentally ill into the restaurant. He sat him at a table and offered him a drink which was kind, however he then left and failed to keep an eye on him. The man then proceeded to waive the steak knife around and attempted to conceal it. He stood up from his chair and made stabbing gestures. My husband quickly alerted staff-the waitstaff all showed signs of concern and apologized. Famous Johnny Deers Steakhouse in the Heart of Moline- Me and Becky have tried coming here in the past with no Reservation, but could never get in! We did reserve a 6:45 table for our Anniversry this year, and we're promptly seated. Service and Atmosphere were decent- nothing Special. First course included some fluffy fucachia bread with olive oil and parmijean Chease- bread and salads with both of our entrees! Becky ordered a PRIME RIB with baked potatoe and I got the Taste of Italy, which came with chicken parmigeana, Fettuccinie, and parmigean encrusted sirloin STEAK. Both steaks were done to the Proper medium rare- Becky's steak was as red as my back after a day at the beach when it came out, but seemed fine when we cut in. Strange. My pasta and chicken were JUST OK- I've had better at some unnamed Italian chains. Becky said her potatoe was dry too. If you're coming here, come for the STEAK. I didn't know if Moline would have a good restaurant option as the streets of this town were almost completely deserted. My hotel recommended Johnny's and, wow, was this an unexpected delight. Sherry, scallops, romaine wedge, lobster Mac & Cheese, and cedar plank salmon was a meal I desperately needed after a ten hour drive. I have no complaints. It was all so good and Blake, the bartender, was a good host. It's easy to write off towns like Moline that have seen better days. If you do, though, you will miss what was, for me, the best meal I've had in months. read more

Went with wife and teenage boy, no reservation but got in within 3-5 minutes luckily thanks to calling ahead. Bread service was solid, menu was fabulous, dinner was even better. We had two different filet options and a Fettuccine Alfredo. Margarita and Bourbon options were superb. The service was exceptional, friendly, efficient, and very timely. This was my first experience (my wife's fifth) at Johnny's, and I can't wait to go back. To set the mood, their music playlist was playing some Frank Sinatra hits on very low volume (perfect), and we had the turtle cheesecake for dessert to wrap things up. It has been at least a couple of years since our last visit and it seems that Johnny's is just not as good as it used to be. Went on a Saturday and arrived at 6:30 with zero wait. As many years as Johnny's has been around, it still looks great. The curtains that separate the different dinning areas do a good job containing some of the sound in the restaurant, so you can carry on a conversation without yelling. Our waitress arrived promptly after we sat down and took our drink orders. My wife had a Moscow Mule and I had a bourbon Old Fashion. The wait for the cocktails was short and the balance of the flavors were very good. To take the Old Fashion to the next level, Johnny's should consider dumping the maraschino cherries and using Luxardo cherries. Oddly, the waitress never asked if we would like a second round. For the salads, my wife had the house and I had the wedge. The lettuce in the wedge salad was crisp. The disappointing part of the wedge salad was the blue cheese dressing, it was "thin". I am used to a thick and creamy dressing, but this dressing was thin and lacked flavor. When our waitress came to collect our salad plates, she asked if I wanted to keep my knife. I had ordered the rib eye and I thought it was a little unusual in a higher end restaurant to re-use my knife after using it for the wedge salad. As I mentioned, for the entrée I had the Char-broiled rib eye and my wife had the Chanel No. 5. I ordered my rib-eye, medium rare (as if there is another temperature to order a steak to). It came out perfectly cook, but lacked flavor. Additionally, it was fairly tough and the last 20% of the steak was mostly gristle. Not what I would expect from a restaurant that features steak so prominently. My wife liked the Chanel No. 5, but the artichokes in the dish were either too soft or hard and crunchy. The timing of the service was very good. The wait between ordering, the salads arriving, and the entrees arriving, were spot on. We didn't feel like we were rushed between courses, nor did we feel like had to wait forever. While I would like to score this visit higher, I cannot. I would expect better flavor and higher quality from the ribeye especially since their steaks "are hand selected and aged a minimum of 28 days". read more

Superficial menu and clever words. Just because you call it something fancy doesn't make it fancy. $29 Johnny's Chanel No. 5, is a joke. The menu described it as "Marilyn's trademark! Lobster, shrimp, artichokes, prosciutto, cheese ravioli, garlic cream sauce". It should be called "$29 kids cheese ravioli". It was served to us with two pieces of shrimp and no lobster to be found. We asked the waitress "How many pieces of shrimp typically come with this dish and where is the lobster?" She went back to the kitchen to discuss with the chef. The waitress told us that we can buy a skewer of Shrimp. Obviously there was no attempt to confirm how many pieces of shrimp come with a meal and where the lobster was. My expectations would have been a little more shrimp and some pieces of lobster somewhere in the meal. Save your time and money and go have a nice dinner somewhere else. Johnny's Italian steakhouse does not care about making a customer happy after receiving an empty dish. I have noticed there are plenty of poor reviews of this restaurant. The comments that come back from management are a joke. The typical comment from the management is something to the effact " Thank you for your comments, we are working on this issue with our staff and management to improve your dining experience". Comments by the manager should be focused on bringing those customers back and offering them a better experience. Save your time and money, and go eat somewhere else. They're much more better restaurants in the quad cities than Johnny's Italian steakhouse. read more

Atmosphere was very nice. Big place but they use curtains to cut it up so it's really quiet and private. Nice, classic steakhouse with a big bar Food was really good. I had the 8 oz filet with veggies and a baked potato. Steak was cooked perfectly and it was really tender. Egg use were classic sautéed with a nice mix. Baked potato was a baked potato, hard to mess that up. Onion soup was good, not the best but good. Service was good, we had Ashley, and I saw another review saying really mean things about her, (assuming it's the same Ashley), but she was pleasant, quick and very good. I was a part of a veterans dinner with 30 people in the Johnny's boardroom. The table was dirty. My plate had hard crusted food that not scratch-off-albe with my fingernail. My fork had some leftover lettuce freeze dried to it and the bartender Logan put over 2 inches of head on my 20oz beer. The women's bathroom according to my wife was dirty. I was determined to give my review 1 star. The whole reason we went to Johnny's was for me to try the white bolognese pappardelle pasta. We arrived before 6:30 and hadn't been able to get a reservation so we sat at the bar. After I ordered they came back and told me they were out of it. How do you run out of a pasta dish before 7 pm? We almost left, but stuck it out and I'm glad we did. I had the French onion soup. It had a broth with a deep flavor, which I love. I think they must use focaccia bread in the soup, which I didn't care for. My alternative choice was bucatini with meatballs and it was great. Pasta was firm, lots of sauce and the sauce and meatballs had a good flavor. My wife had filet mignon and she thought it was one of the best she's had. Very tender, cooked to correct temp and good flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes weren't hot enough but she made due. It's really a place that deserves 5 stars if they don't run out of pasta! read more

Overall this food is excellent. The dress code is casual, even though the prices would suggest people should dress up a little. The stuffed mushrooms were "okay," (7/10) in my opinion. The cheese wasn't entirely melted, so it felt like it overpowered everything else. The beef Wellington (8/10) was good, but on the saltier side. The Oscar filet (9/10) was good! The sauce was tasty to eat with potatoes, the crab cake was good, but the steak and sauce combination was also on the saltier side. I would order this again though. The crème brûlée was good (8/10) but not the best I've ever had. The drinks were strong and good, but I wish they had a variety of cocktails on the menu and not just martinis. The service was quick, easy to make a reservation for, and we felt well taken care of. The salads (not pictured) were good. The ranch is homemade and flavorful and the Caesar salad was tasty. The bread on offer in the bread basket is very good but the meal and experience goes downhill from there. At best the food is average and so if there was excellent service, a review could possibly creep to three stars. While our server was nice, the service was extremely slow. It took more than 90 minutes from the time we sat for our entrees to arrive (we didn't even order apps). To add insult to the injury, the food was room temperature when it arrived at the table. One of our party has deadly food allergies and was very clear and particular about what and how she ordered. The rest of us just ordered off the menu, yet somehow more than half of us ended up with the wrong items, wrong combination of toppings, wrong cook on the beef, etc. The person with the food allergy had to order on 4 separate occasions because the kitchen just couldn't master not putting sauce on the beef. Then come to find out after she was read the ingredient list and ordered based off that, started to eat the food, then oops that does have garlic in it. I thankfully received my order perfectly accurate and enjoyed my meal, though I don't think it was in the running for the best steak houses, I'm sure it's good for the quaint area we were in. read more

As a fan of fine dining we use to love Johnny's but the last 4 times we visited the establishment have not met previous standards. The food was luke warm, the sauce on the pasta had a film over the top from sitting too long under a heat lamp, asparagus was cold but the shrimp cocktail and mini Wellington bites were good as appetizers. I'm not sure where the break down is, but after a $440 meal and leaving not satisfied, we will not return. Our server would bring drinks or food and leave all the dirty dishes on the table. The table was not large enough to begin with, now it is full of stacked dirty dishes, we had to ask them to remove them. read more

The atmosphere is stuffy and upclass, but the food is worse than Applebee's. When my husband and I went here, I was in the midst of a salmon obsession. I was trying it from many different establishments. He ordered a steak. This was by far the least flavorful salmon I tried. I could tell the fish was okay quality, but it was bland and under-seasoned. My husband felt the same way about his steak. If it was cheaper, I would have been okay with the food, but not thrilled. For the extensive price, I was extremely underwhelmed. I would never come back here because I can get the same salmon with better seasoning at pretty much anywhere that serves salmon. read more

The place has incredible potential. Awesome ambiance. Truly an old School steakhouse feel with a modern touch. Very cool vibe. The service at front bar was fantastic. Bartenders had a lot of personality and added to the evening. Our table was great. Really felt like we were getting ready to experience a high level steakhouse. Then it all went south. Yes we were there on a Monday but the young girl waiting on us couldn't be less interested in performing her function. It devolved into a ihop type of experience. (No offense to ihop).... She stopped by to check on us at the appropriate intervals but when asking how things were going she didn't even hesitate for the answer. No big...I'm not dependent on servers to add to my evening (as the bartenders did) but it felt very formula/perfunctory. What was really disappointing was the food. It was 3 star in 5 star atmosphere. Prices were below what you find in a place with such incredible atmosphere. My suggestion...charge more & pay more for your sources of steak, seafood & vegetables & get a chef that puts their heart into realizing this restaurants true potential. Martinis were great!
