Grindstone Public House used to be one of our absolute favorite spots. We loved it so much that we even hosted our rehearsal dinner there, which says a lot about how special it once felt to us. That said, we have noticed the quality has gone down while the prices have gone up quite a bit. It's a vibe! The ambiance is nice and cozy. It's kind of dark but they had little lamps on the table. We sat upstairs above the bar. Parking could be an issue but we lucked up on street parking. Staff is friendly. Drinks were pretty good. We had a tropical bourbon drink but should have stirred it because the tropical flavor was at the bottom. Also had the lemoncello that pour over a sphere of ice (I forgot the name). Both drinks were good. We tried fried green tomatoes. I didn't care for the batter but they were good. I loved the wedge salad! So yummy! Great portion. My dinner date said the tenderloin was good. He didn't care for the mac and cheese but thought the mashed potatoes were good too. The restaurant is old and needs some updates however the bathrooms are impressively large. I'm short and the booth made me feel like I was to close to the ground. I asked to be moved and they were very accommodating and moved me to a table which was much better. My star rating is a 3 .5 instead of the 4 that is reflected only because it needs updates otherwise it's a solid 4. Since I was in at lunch time I ordered the Clancy's Topper which is their take on a big mac and I substituted the fries for a baked potato. The food came out hot and fresh. The potato was a nice size and came out steaming . The burger was constructed just like a big mac except the sauce was a tartar sauce which threw me off so I had it put to the side because I was unsure. The sauce was delicious and set the burger apart from anything I've had before. Even though it looked like a big mac it was definitely a restaurant quality burger not fast food chain at all. If the tartar was good on the burger I bet it's amazing on their fish and chips. read more

We went here to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. This was a great choice. All of the food we had was amazing. Our server was Zander and he was super sweet and did an awesome job communicating, especially when our food was slow coming out. It seemed that the kitchen was backed up a bit. It took about 45-50 minutes before we got our food. I was please that the food wasn't cold when it came out and it was delicious! They have space for dinner parties/ party rooms. The restaurant has dim lighting and a cute ambiance. I for sure would consider eating here again. My sister and I stopped in here a couple Mondays ago for a late lunch after getting sister tattoos. I have been here a couple of times for dinner, but never for lunch. It was much quieter than the busy dinner rush and all of the staff working were so sweet! We had chatted with the hostess about our tattoos we had just gotten and she told us about a shop across the street who had a great, female tattoo artist as well and she does free consultations. Already an A+ experience in my book. We each ordered a little cocktail snack (I got the blood orange cosmo and my sister got the blackberry jalepeno margarita) and they were a perfect afternoon treat. For lunch we both got the avocado blt and tomato bisque. Ugh, I don't even know where to start with this. It was amazing, better than I could have asked for. The bread was toasted and buttery, there were large avocado and tomato pieces. The tomato bisque was PACKED with flavor and so creamy. The perfect fall lunch pairing! Food took a long time to come out..people who came in and ordered after us got their food before us. When the food finally arrived it was cold. Who wants to eat cold fries and cold chicken? It obviously was sitting back there for awhile. We hadn't returned to Grindstone for over five years, so we thought it was time to give it another try in hopes of redemption. I'm so glad we did as we had an amazing experience this time! We had a 5pm reservation for a high top table in the bar area -- loved the comfy chairs. Our bartender/server was great -- he was so friendly, helpful and attentive. We really enjoyed our menu choices: French onion soup, seared ahi tuna appetizer, full rack of baby back ribs with tangy peach bbq sauce, and the chicken piccata with brussels sprouts. The ribs truly were 'fall off the bone' quality and the chicken piccata was so juicy! I'd definitely recommend both menu options plus you'll enjoy leftovers for another meal or two. It's centrally located in the little town area and the food came out fast. There are different seating areas: general, bar, live music. Restrooms and ambiance were very nice as well. I would recommend all the menu items our table got: French dip, bread pudding, fried mushrooms, meatloaf, brussel sprouts, baby back ribs, and Nashville chicken sliders Must try: bread pudding and stuffed shrooms! Just okay: only complaint the whole meal was that the sweet potato fries with the sliders were over cooked and not fluffy on the inside of the fry. We tried the chicken quesadilla appetizer this time and it was delicious! The club sandwich is a tried and true order from me and it did not disappoint. My partner said the green beans were bland (hard to believe when cooked with bacon!), but it didn't detract from the dish too much. The reason I gave it a 4 star review is because some of the food didn't meant our expectations. I went Mother's Day. We had to have a late reservations because my niece had to work. Unfortunately having this late Reservation awarded us mediocre food. My dad's steak was cold and my mom's fish was cold and had to be remade. The waitress was very nice but Unfortunately I notice to believe the manager and later doing research on their website and confirmed it was walked by our table repeatedly and not one time speak or even stopped by to apologize or check on our table. WOW! Last night was our first night out in months. Last minute decided to switch restaurants and I'm so happy we did. We booked a reservation and upon walking in was immediately greeted and sat. Our waitress was amazing. From her great personality to how attentive she was when checking on us. The food and portions are great. I could not believe how much food we got for the price! Drinks were top notch as well. I wish I took more photos but we decided phones away for the night. I got the fish tacos and they were amazing! He got the chicken Marsala and it came with two huge chicken portions on top of the pasta and large servings of bread. The place was busy but not loud. We were sat at a two person table and I immediately commented how much space we had compared to other restaurants. This place I will continue to rave about and recommend to anyone. Wow, what a great dinner my wife and I had here on Friday night. We made a reservation for 5:45 because I was unsure of how busy they would be on a Friday night. We got there around 5:30, and many of the tables were full, and we were seated promptly despite being a tad earlier than our reservation. We were greeted quickly by our waiter. He didn't introduce himself (his name), but oh well- he was attentive throughout the meal. The place was nice on the inside, and felt very clean and modern. I ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad. I also had a cocktail from their menu (I can't remember what the menu name was but it was essentially a vodka cranberry). The vodka cranberry was good- definitely not skimpy on the alcohol. My Caesar salad had the perfect amount of dressing, and the crushed black pepper was a nice touch. I was iffy about getting the prime rib, as I've been burned by other restaurants in the past with crappy quality meat. This one was in the top three best I've had. The horseradish sauce didn't have too much of a bite to it, and paired nicely with the meat. Overall, a great evening spent here. My only and only complaint (but not enough to take a star off) is the hosts when checking in. They weren't very friendly, and kinda looked bad they a lot of them were in sweats and a sweatshirt (in comparison to many servers wearing dress pants and a button up- idk, just didn't match the whole vibe).
