My husband and I had tickets to a concert at Ruoff and wanted to grab some dinner before the show. I made reservations in May to secure a table. We walked in and were seated quickly, even though we arrived a little earlier than our reservation. Our server was Tad M and he was awesome! He answered my questions and gave me some great suggestions. I ordered an espresso martini and my husband ordered a Tiger Tea. The drinks arrived quickly and were really good. We started out with French Onion Soup and it was very good. I decided to order the Whiskey Chicken and my husband ordered the Hoosier Hot Plate. Our food arrived and it looked great! We were both really happy with our food, it was prepared perfectly! Tad checked on us a few times to make sure we were having a great time. This restaurant was really cute inside, I loved the lights and the old pictures displayed. This was my first time in Noblesville, and I'm so glad I chose Grindstone Public House. We live a good 45 minutes away, but if we get tickets to shows at Ruoff, we will definitely be back! read more

My wife and I were loyal customers of Grindstone Public House for six years, going every single weekend without missing one--more than 300 weekends. Last Christmas alone, I purchased $1,000 in Grindstone gift cards, and we've routinely tipped the bartenders 30-40% because the bar staff has always treated us extremely well. Unfortunately, after six years, that relationship has come to an end. We had brought Grindstone three cocktail recipes we enjoy--two from a favorite restaurant in Illinois and one based on the Liquid Love Affair from 1933 Lounge in Fishers. Management eventually created a special POS button for our cocktails and charged $10.50 each. We were recently informed that ownership had decided to increase those drinks to $15 each--a 43% increase overnight. I understand prices increase. Had they gone to $11 or $12, I wouldn't have thought twice about it. What I found unreasonable was charging $15--the same price as Grindstone's signature cocktails--for recipes we supplied ourselves. One of those drinks is based on the Liquid Love Affair from 1933 Lounge. I can literally walk from my house to 1933 Lounge and purchase the actual cocktail for $15. Why would I drive 20 minutes to Noblesville and pay the same price for Grindstone's version? We were also told a dirty martini at Grindstone is $13. This wasn't about being unable to afford another $4.50. Someone buying $1,000 in gift cards and tipping 30-40% isn't being financially devastated by a few dollars. It was about how six years of loyalty was treated. What happened afterward was equally disappointing. After I posted reviews elsewhere describing our experience, Grindstone publicly responded, acknowledged our six years and 300+ weekends of loyalty, specifically acknowledged the 43% increase, and asked me to email management so we could have a "meaningful conversation" and they could have the opportunity to "make this right." I did exactly what they asked. Three days later, I had received no response, and Grindstone had deleted its public response asking me to contact management. I retained a screenshot of that response. The bartenders deserve none of the criticism here. They've always treated us wonderfully, and they're the part of Grindstone we'll genuinely miss. There are simply too many locally owned restaurants and bars whose owners work hard to earn and retain loyal customers. Another local restaurant owner has already gone out of his way to stock the liquor necessary to make our cocktails and charges $12 for them. Grindstone didn't lose two six-year customers because we couldn't afford another $4.50. They lost two six-year customers because of how six years of loyalty was handled--and unfortunately, management's response afterward only reinforced our decision. read more

Im giving a 5 star rating due to great food and service in the banquet room and restaurant area... bar service wasn't as warm and friendly. I have been back several times and for a special occasion in the banquet dining hall. The staff went WAY beyond their duties to make sure everything was beautiful and the food was great near everyone commented on it! The staff in the banquet private dining room was spot on. Event was in August last year, today I am in the app and msg popped up asking to upload it! Oops. So here it is. Btw all Clancy restaurants are amazing! Great staff unique menu option at their different places, always brilliant. Four of us arrived on an early Sunday afternoon for lunch. The three gals at the front entrance that greeted us were not friendly at all. It was a very odd moment when we first came in to be looked up and down and then feeling like we were inconveniencing them. We should have walked then but I was excited to see the building and give it a try. Our server Alan was friendly but I have a feeling he had other tables at a different area because he would be missing for long bouts of time From a food perspective, it's really nothing special and it wasn't very good. The other inconvenience were several flies that were with us in the dining room. Here's what we ordered: - pretzel appetizer - a little overdone, mustard was strong but cheese queso good. Nachos with steak - see pic - smallest nachos I've ever had at a place like this for the same price - steak was fatty, cheese wasn't even melted and while the chips were good the notion that this was a restaurant quality/portion and name sake was laughable. Same queso as was served with the pretzels. - French dip - odd taste, maybe since it was prime rib meat? Beet salad - beautifully presented and was delicious - only highlight of the meal especially with the tasty raisin bread. Fountain drinks are Pepsi brands - those were good. read more

We had dinner at the Grindstone Public House in Noblesville on Wednesday evening. It so happened it was their steak special night - $25 for a 16oz t-bone steak and 2 sides. First off, our server Hannah was first rate - pleasant and very attentive. It was our first visit here and we enjoyed the setting and were pleased to see that despite the size of the rooms, the sound level was low allowing us to carry on conversations during our meals. Two of us ordered the steak special - while not the best steak I've ever had, for the price it was quite good. I'd return and get it again. Our wives had the orange chicken and a beet salad with a Nashville chicken slider. All in all we enjoyed out visit and will definitely add this to our dining list this summer. read more

It's a vibe! The ambiance is nice and cozy. It's kind of dark but they had little lamps on the table. We sat upstairs above the bar. Parking could be an issue but we lucked up on street parking. Staff is friendly. Drinks were pretty good. We had a tropical bourbon drink but should have stirred it because the tropical flavor was at the bottom. Also had the lemoncello that pour over a sphere of ice (I forgot the name). Both drinks were good. We tried fried green tomatoes. I didn't care for the batter but they were good. I loved the wedge salad! So yummy! Great portion. My dinner date said the tenderloin was good. He didn't care for the mac and cheese but thought the mashed potatoes were good too. On Wednesdays, they have a special where you can get a t-bone steak and two sides for $25. (A steak here is normally around $40.) I went with the special and it was great. For my t-bone steak, I would have preferred a little less t-bone and a little more steak, but it tasted excellent. Delightful ambience. The bartender was terrific. read more

We've been there several times - Great food - especially the Chicken & Noodles and the Hoosier Hot Plate! Nice atmosphere! Service great!

The restaurant is old and needs some updates however the bathrooms are impressively large. I'm short and the booth made me feel like I was to close to the ground. I asked to be moved and they were very accommodating and moved me to a table which was much better. My star rating is a 3 .5 instead of the 4 that is reflected only because it needs updates otherwise it's a solid 4. Since I was in at lunch time I ordered the Clancy's Topper which is their take on a big mac and I substituted the fries for a baked potato. The food came out hot and fresh. The potato was a nice size and came out steaming . The burger was constructed just like a big mac except the sauce was a tartar sauce which threw me off so I had it put to the side because I was unsure. The sauce was delicious and set the burger apart from anything I've had before. Even though it looked like a big mac it was definitely a restaurant quality burger not fast food chain at all. If the tartar was good on the burger I bet it's amazing on their fish and chips. read more

We went here to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. This was a great choice. All of the food we had was amazing. Our server was Zander and he was super sweet and did an awesome job communicating, especially when our food was slow coming out. It seemed that the kitchen was backed up a bit. It took about 45-50 minutes before we got our food. I was please that the food wasn't cold when it came out and it was delicious! They have space for dinner parties/ party rooms. The restaurant has dim lighting and a cute ambiance. I for sure would consider eating here again. I will say if you have reservations, make sure to come early- there is not a parking lot, only street parking and that can be tricky. read more

Met friends for lunch last Friday. The service was excellent!! Our waitress was friendly and attentive without making us feel rushed--perfect! The atmosphere was very relaxed. The food was excellent. I wanted the wedge salad, but blue cheese is not my favorite. They were flexible and substituted goat cheese and balsamic dressing--and it was delicious. My sister and I stopped in here a couple Mondays ago for a late lunch after getting sister tattoos. I have been here a couple of times for dinner, but never for lunch. It was much quieter than the busy dinner rush and all of the staff working were so sweet! We had chatted with the hostess about our tattoos we had just gotten and she told us about a shop across the street who had a great, female tattoo artist as well and she does free consultations. Already an A+ experience in my book. We each ordered a little cocktail snack (I got the blood orange cosmo and my sister got the blackberry jalepeno margarita) and they were a perfect afternoon treat. For lunch we both got the avocado blt and tomato bisque. Ugh, I don't even know where to start with this. It was amazing, better than I could have asked for. The bread was toasted and buttery, there were large avocado and tomato pieces. The tomato bisque was PACKED with flavor and so creamy. The perfect fall lunch pairing! Loved the decor, service, and food at Grindstone! We were there on a work trip and it was the perfect first meal in the area. It's centrally located in the little town area and the food came out fast. There are different seating areas: general, bar, live music. Restrooms and ambiance were very nice as well. I would recommend all the menu items our table got: French dip, bread pudding, fried mushrooms, meatloaf, brussel sprouts, baby back ribs, and Nashville chicken sliders Must try: bread pudding and stuffed shrooms! Just okay: only complaint the whole meal was that the sweet potato fries with the sliders were over cooked and not fluffy on the inside of the fry. We hadn't returned to Grindstone for over five years, so we thought it was time to give it another try in hopes of redemption. I'm so glad we did as we had an amazing experience this time! We had a 5pm reservation for a high top table in the bar area -- loved the comfy chairs. Our bartender/server was great -- he was so friendly, helpful and attentive. We really enjoyed our menu choices: French onion soup, seared ahi tuna appetizer, full rack of baby back ribs with tangy peach bbq sauce, and the chicken piccata with brussels sprouts. The ribs truly were 'fall off the bone' quality and the chicken piccata was so juicy! I'd definitely recommend both menu options plus you'll enjoy leftovers for another meal or two. I love Grindstone Public House! The vibe is great for a date night or out with friends. The food is always delicious and I have always had good service. We tried the chicken quesadilla appetizer this time and it was delicious! The club sandwich is a tried and true order from me and it did not disappoint. The whiskey chicken was moist and perfectly cooked and those garlic mashed potatoes done perfectly. My partner said the green beans were bland (hard to believe when cooked with bacon!), but it didn't detract from the dish too much. Male hostess rude. We went on a weekday around 5:15 and didn't have a reservation as it was a last minute decision. He acted like we were clueless and said you do know the wait will be at least an hour without a reservation. The place was also extremely empty'. Tables everywhere. We said that was fine as we were not in a hurry. We waited a little more than an hour without any effort of him seating us. We finally just got up and left. It obviously was sitting back there for awhile. I wish I had tried this place sooner! The interior is industrial, but cozy and had plenty of seating. Our server was attentive and although we only went for brunch, I was impressed with the menu options and quality of the food! I built an omelet with steak and let me tell you, they didn't skimp on the portions! The steak was tender and flavorful and the side of potatoes were nice and crispy.
