This place is EXACTLY my vibe. Nice and quiet with smooth sounds that get upbeat a time or two. There is ample seating at tables booths. There are sections which we had a section with cute egg shaped chairs and a couch with lots of table room. The old fashioned I had was A1. I also had an Elmo cola recommended by a friend and it was AMAZING! That will be my drank next time! For food I had the wagyu sliders that were recommended and were melt in my mouth amazing! It's fine. There was a leak from the ceiling onto one of the chairs on our table. We wanted to notify our server once we noticed it, but never came back for refills or to make sure everything was right. When we did tell him, he laughed it off and said there were other leaks around the space, including one hitting him in the head while mixing drinks at the bar. After having such a pleasant experience at 1933 for Happy Hour on a Sunday afternoon we decided to go back for dinner on Friday night. Once again we sat at the bar and had excellent service. Came here for a friend's Bday celebration. Our starters are the calamari. It was well cooked and not rubbery. Lots of tentacles which is how it should be. The dip was sweet and spicy, which is good. Main courses: 14 oz ribeye. It was well flavored, a hint of crispness on the outside and tender on inside. The fries is came with was just plain. We had a company party at 1933 Lounge and it was so chic! The vibe of this place was upscale yet not stuffy. The furniture and decor all featured unique pieces and the bathroom wallpaper is so different & fun - you must check it out! The food was delicious as well. All the flavors shined through the various courses we were served and offered a very similar (near perfect) dining experience to their sister restaurant, St Elmo's. I went to grab dinner with my best friend. We were so excited to grab dinner here as it'd been a while since we dined in. We didn't have a reservation, I arrived before my friend but they were able to find seating fairly quickly. Our server was Natalia, but there was another lady in red that served us for the entirety of our dining experience and she was great! We quickly ordered drinks and turned our attention to the food menu. One thing that we were really excited to try were the Elmo rolls so we ordered those and an order of calamari. The Elmo rolls were very disappointing. The cocktail sauce that they are known for was so lackluster. There was little to no horseradish present in the sauce. I asked our server about this and she mentioned that a milder version of accompanied those roles but I've had them previously and they were incredible. We even asked the neighboring table who had ordered shrimp cocktail, and they also mentioned the sauce being extremely mild. Needless to say the rolls left little to be desired. We ordered the grouper sandwich and a burger. Both were pretty tasty. For drinks, we ordered a margarita and an espresso martini, however the margarita was so sour. There are now a few 1933 Lounges in the northern Indianapolis suburbs, with the Carmel location being the newest. These restaurants are part of the St. Elmo ecosystem, so you'll find a lot of the same menu items. Food: Basically the same as St. Elmo, which is, of course, the Gold Standard in Indiana for steakhouses. The menu is a bit larger and more progressive. Service: Service was, in all honesty, a little slow and impersonal. Each time I've been to St. Elmo in my life (50+ times), my server was an experienced adult who had likely put his/her children through college by working there for 20+ years. At each 1933 Lounge I've been to, including Carmel, the service was definitely a step down from that standard. Ambiance: The new Carmel restaurant is still brand new and visually stunning. However, at 5:30pm on a Friday night, it was also the loudest restaurant experience I've ever had. I'm talking eardrum-crushing background noise. Granted, the place was nearly 100% full when we arrived, but ... damn. My wife and I nearly had to resort to hand signals & texting just to communicate. Carmel 1933, you have outdone yourself. This new location is almost 3x bigger than the Fishers location and it is quite impressive. Whereas the Fishers location was dark and small, this one is open and light. Walking in you have bar lounge tables and booths to the right and left which lead up to the beautiful bar and then more tables and bar tables/hightops. While we waited for our 8 o'clock reservation, we found a small table next to the bar where we were able to order drinks and appetizers. I was pleasantly surprised to see a mocktail menu. I got the sparkling sapphire, which was a little tart, but overall very refreshing my husband got a peach or mango tea. He got the Wagyu slider and I got the Caesar salad. We were both very happy with these choices the Caesar salad was enough for both of us. Once 8 o'clock rolled around, we went back to the hostess table and there we were led to our half booth, half comfy chair table. It was prime location for people watching which we love to do at restaurants our server Aaron was very helpful and knowledgeable. I got the almond encrusted cod With brown butter, couscous, and broccolini. I have never had couscous like this and it was absolutely delicious as was the breading on the cod I would highly recommend this dish. My husband got the 16 ounce prime rib which he said was huge and barely finished it. Unfortunately we did not leave room for dessert, but that just gave us a reason to go back and enjoy chocolate, mousse pie, my husband's favorite. This place is a 10/10. This is a tough review for me to write. I wanted a great experience and they probably will be better for the next folks but I can only give my experiences. I stopped in late afternoon on a Saturday and sat at the bar with my wife for a quick drink and starter before headed home. The ambiance is phenomenal. It's 5+ out of 5. The decor is the amazing blend of old school steak house with an excellent blend of old school dark wood with modern contours and wicked cool furniture. The drinks were also amazing. 5+ I got the pops old fashioned which was amazingly balanced. They have an outstanding selection of hard to find bourbons. The barkeeps were also very knowledgeable and engaging. The food is where they fell down. We ordered a seared tuna app and waited and waited....other's who sat down after us got served their meals before our fast prep starter. I had to ask two bartender and barback to check on our order and there was a mixup. No explanation on what it was...they offered to comp my food but I'd already paid my tab because of how long it was taking. It made the experience a disappointment. I would come back again for drinks but I don't plan on paying the $$$$ prices to "hope" to not be disappointed by the kitchen. read more

Oh boy - We aren't in Indiana anymore, or at least that's what this place feels like! Stepping into 1933 Lounge Carmel addition is on a whole new level. It feels like you are in Chicago for sure. This place is probably impossible to get in, but luckily we had an "in" with one of the chef's that allowed us to use his name for our reservation. We actually arrived early, and our table wasn't ready but we found a spot at the bar. The place was bustling with just good vibes. Everyone just having a really nice time. The drinks we ordered at the bar were very good, and came quickly even though the place was packed. Once we got seated at our table, the service was also good, and food came out hot and was everything we ordered. Steaks cooked to perfection. Oh and bonus feature, they have that indoor outdoor feel with the doors that open when it's warm out allowing for a totally different experience if you would like. It's like this in my head: St. Elmo Steakhouse is the grandpa, Harry & Izzy are the aunt and uncle, 1933 Lounge is the 20-something granddaughter. All of these places are a part of the same family, and they all serve relatively the same food. But you choose one over the other based on how much bread you're willing to spend and the vibe you're looking for. Or think of it this way: 1933 Lounge in Carmel is like a St. Elmo Steak House lite. But don't tell grandpa -- I like 1933 Lounge a lot better than St. Elmo! First of all, it is beautiful and fresh and new. It just opened in downtown Carmel, off of Rangeline Road. Everywhere you look, there are gold accents and leather and mood lighting. There's a big indoor-outdoor seating area, and when I was there, the weather was just warm enough that they had the big windows open to let in the spring air. I sat in the bar area, at a three-top table with some friends. We mostly got drinks, but we did taste the filet sliders, and they were incredible. It's basically just a mini bun and a hunk of meat, but that meat is so tender and basically melts in your mouth. Get it with the horseradish sauce for an even more ethereal eating experience. My drink of choice is usually just wine, but I got a Elmo Cola this time: a glass-bottled Coke with St. Elmo cherry vanilla whiskey and drunken cherries. It's the signature drink at St. Elmo, and it's also one of the signature drinks here at 1933 Lounge. They serve it to you separately: the whisky and ice are in a glass, and you're supposed to pour as much Coke as you want into it. It was good and I'm glad I tried it, but I'm not a sweet drink person, so I only drank half of it before I switched to pinot noir. We also tried the El Dorado, their signature margarita on the rocks, as well as the Gatsby, which is a gimlet. We enjoyed those, too. The service was amazing! We had multiple people come up to check on us throughout our visit. It's what you would expect from this place. It could be that they're so attentive because they just opened and want to make a good impression, but either way, I'll take it. I will return to 1933 Lounge soon to get more drinks and try their Caesar salad (it looked really good). This place is sexy and fun and upscale without being stuffy. We were not in the mood to eat the same old food at home for lunch. We headed to downtown Carmel to grab a bite and remembered the 1933 Lounge since we work from home as consultants we weren't dressed as business people, but it worked out OK. They did ask if we had reservations but managed to find us a seat. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a deco speakeasy vibe with lots of cozy areas and small tables that encourage conversation. There's a generous balcony patio that overlooks Rangeline Road. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu that offers good lunch options as well as a full cocktail menu which we definitely enjoyed. We came for lunch a little before 1pm. The decor is beautiful and you can tell they put a lot of thought into it. However, the service was extremely slow. We ordered two lunch specials, the lollipop wings, and my husband ordered the shrimp cocktail and the French dip. The food took over an hour to come out and our proteins were barely warm. My husband's sandwich was also a bit soggy. 1933 in Fishers is usually one of my go to places when I am in town. However this one in Carmel, I would wait a few months to give this place a try until they are more settled. The food flavor wise was great and tasted as expected from their restaurant. The ambience of this lounge is a 10! We were greeted by several greeters and seated immediately. We went here to celebrate our friend birthday and they didn't disappoint. Walking through this restaurant you could capture several stories amongst the many seating areas. We were seated outside on the patio and it was a great view. DJ was our server and he aimed to please. Thank you DJ for a great experience. We each tried something different and for the most part we all enjoyed our entrée. I got the lobster grilled cheese. It was buttery and a nice amount of lobster. I felt like it was missing something but I enjoyed it. When they first opened we visited a few times and the gluten free aspect wasn't great, but we just went back tonight and they now have a full gluten free menu and the manager comes out to verify any allergies and makes sure that whatever you've ordered is free of your allergy! Such a beautiful place. I ate dinner with my friend this past Sat night. I was so impressed with 1933's sister restaurant, 'Monterey' so I figured why not try 1933. The ambience and decor is second to none. One of the most elegant and detailed bars I've ever seen.. hats off to the designer. I ordered two drinks. One never showed up. Hey, mistakes.. no big deal. The bar tender did made the drink. Fine. We opted to eat at the bar believing service might be better. After ordering, I asked the bartender to bring over the bread being served as I wanted to try it... It never showed up. Not once after the meal was served did the bartender come over. Water was never refilled. Side note: I work in the service industry. We live and breath based on our service accomplishments.
