This spot has been on my list to go to for quite some time. I am so very happy that I finally made it there. We had reservations yesterday at 4:30pm, right when they opened. I was wondering if the seating here would be communal since they only have 9 tables and room for 35 guests but I was pleasantly surprised that we were seated at our own table in a bit of a nook created by bookcases. My girlfriend and I had plans that day to go to the Peony Festival in town but it was cancelled due to weather. There were still many beautiful peonies in the restaurant itself and in many businesses around town. We were immediately seated by the hostess and our waiter, James, came to the table to tell us about the restaurant and that they would take our entire order and then course it out for us. I love this. Being a small restaurant it was a little noisy in there but we just spoke up a bit to talk to each other. We started with a couple cocktails, mine was Mr. Rumtastic and my friend had the Coming Up Roses. Both cocktails were well made and good. I found mine a bit thick on the palate, maybe because of the coconut milk? Still the flavors were well balanced and delicious. We started our meal with the Housemade Burrata, the bottom of the plate had a pistachio butter spread across it and there was mortadella on the plate, a puffy fried dough called gnocco fritto, and a balsamic honey along side. We were instructed to put it on our plate and mix it up and see how we like it paired together. What an excellent way to start our meal. We would definitely order this again. Next up for us was the Lamb Kafta Kebabs along with the Housemade Focaccia Bread. The lamb kebabs were ground lamb skewered and grilled served over a fresh fava bean puree finished with olive oil, sumac, ramp powder, and black cumin with some thinly sliced watermelon radish. The lamb was super tender and a perfect medium cook. The focaccia bread was a good addition to this as we slathered the homemade bread with the super soft whipped herb butter. Loved the rosemary baked into the bread as it gave it a woody, herby note without overpowering it. I almost ordered the Spring Salad but I asked James if it would be going overboard and he said what we ordered he thought would be the perfect amount of food so I will save that for another day. We ordered a second cocktail, mine was the Persephone's Elixir and my friend ordered the Peonies in the Park. We both enjoyed these cocktails more than we enjoyed the first cocktails we ordered. The egg white on mine made a little frothy creamy top and I loved the slight sweetness from the vanilla syrup and the pomegranate juice. I tried my friend's cocktail and it was so refreshing, it was peony infused vodka with rhubarb liqueur with a strawberry-rhubarb shrub. Next up for us was our main dish. I ordered the Spring Ravioli and my friend ordered the Persian Chicken. My ravioli was the best pasta dish I have had in quite some time. I usually don't eat an entire entree, I usually bring half home, this one though I ate every little bit, I would have licked the plate if I were not in a nice restaurant! Housemade ravioli with a filling of sweet peas, ricotta and percorino cheese bathed in a potato veloute' with sugar snap peas, pink peppercorns, chive oil and microgreens. I would order this again tomorrow if I were to go back tomorrow. My friend loved her chicken and her baked rice as well. So even after all these food, and it was a lot, we had to go for dessert. I ordered a cup of coffee with cream along with Crunch-Dipped Peanut Butter Pie and my friend ordered the Double Scoop of Housemade Peanut-Butter and Chocolate Gelato. We enjoyed these as well. Recently I saw an instagram post from 9th Street Bistro of a delicious blackened pork tomahawk with pimento cheese risotto and I knew we had to go! Picked a date with my husband and easily booked a reservation online. While there is some minor construction near the restaurant, it was still very easy for us to find nearby parking. Because the restaurant is small and intimate, they really encourage reservations and staying on time and not arriving any earlier than your time. We are both notoriously early people, but we hung around outside and walked around and we ended up getting a text 10 minutes before our reservation that our table was ready. I totally understand why they did that, as the entry to the restaurant doesn't really allow for standing and waiting. We were sat up front, near the entry and greeted rather quickly by James, who was clearly very passionate about the food and it made for a great time. While everything was delicious and the service was extremely top notch, I was disappointed that the meal that i was waiting to try, the sole reason I made the reservation, was riddled with onions! No where in the description of the risotto was there mention of onions. With every bite, onions! And I get it, I'm in the wrong not liking a very important ingredient in cooking, but I really expected there to atleast be mention of onions when some of the other menu items had their ingredients listed. Overall, will I come back, yes! But I can't get over the onions and how blackened the pork was (in comparison to the IG photo). A little deceiving. read more

Dined in on a Saturday evening around 8:30pm. We had reservations and were seated promptly. It's a cozy restaurant and felt very welcoming. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. I appreciate that we were asked about allergies & dietary preferences before ordering. We ordered: - Stoller Family Estate Pinot Noir - Geoff Davis: four roses old fashioned - Housemade Focaccia Bread with whipped herb butter - Agnolotti Pasta (vegetarian) - Savory Galette (vegetarian) We really enjoyed the meal. The focaccia is huge portion - definitely fit for 3-4 people rather than just 2! It was sooo soft and delicious. I also enjoyed the savory galette. It was a solid option but wish it had just a bit more of the curry flavor. Despite all the ingredients, it was just a bit underwhelming. I came here again for my birthday- it was just as amazing as last year! We had a reservation on a Wednesday at 8:30, i was shocked to see it so crowded on a Wednesday night. Once we were seated, we ordered the arancini. I could tell they were eager to get orders and close the kitchen but we took a bit to order. My mom and i had the short rib, my dad had the coq au vin and my husband had the pork. They were all fantastic. We had an order of free gelato for my birthday and also ordered drinks. I'll start off by saying this is a gluttonous review but we had to indulge for date night. It's best to make reservations. The staff and service were friendly and attentive, and the space was small and intimate. Because they rotate their menu often we wanted to get everything that looked good to us. So we ordered the truffle fries, savory soufflé, roasted carrots, duck pozole and Prawns En Papillote. The savory soufflé and roasted carrots were by far my favorite... I see why the roasted carrots have a cult following! My entrée was the prawns and it wasn't my favorite but the duck pozole was tender and very flavorful. For dessert they had a pumpkin tiramisu so we had to get that. In all I enjoyed all the food my least favorite would be the prawns, but that's okay because the menu changes and I'll find something else that I'll love! read more

Absolutely fantastic visit. The service was absolutely perfect, present but not overbearing and very personable. The atmosphere was great, high end food but not a total shirt and tie dress code with a very laid back atmosphere. Now the food. Where do I begin. Every single thing we had was fantastic. We had the fried oysters with the homemade ranch and it was amazing. My wife had the tahini linguine and she absolutely loved it. (She did say it is VERY VERY tahini so if you don't really like that flavor beware) I got the duck bourguignon and everything about it was delicious. I joked with my wife and said if I wasn't in public I would lick my plate clean. Then we got the carrot cake for dinner. Absolutely delicious while also felt and tasted healthy but in a good way like not that I just gained 10 pounds by eating this piece of cake but fantastic but not guilty feeling for it if that makes any sense. read more

Service was outstanding. Both host and waiters were up to the point! Presentation of the food was terrific as well! The reason for the 4 stars food was probably our wrong choice of deep fried oysters as one of the appetizers. They have too much of "deep fry" and not too much of the "oysters" to our taste. The focaccia bread, and second appetizer "Peri Peri Cauliflower " was very delicious and unique. The main course "Veal Schnitzel à la Holstein" was good, but not "really good" (a little bit dry to our taste). This is our fourth visit to 9th Street and it was just as memorable this time around. Started the meal with some expertly crafted cocktails, and an appetizer of lobster rangoon and and pork belly ssam. The pork belly ssam was one of the best bites of food I've ever had. I ordered the hot beer can chicken with frites and my wife ordered the pork secreto with jalapeno and pimento cheese grits. Finished the meal with an affogato with chai spice gelato. Delicious, interesting, one of a kind food. We love the quaint cozy feel of this restaurant and how kind and welcoming the staff are. Just an all around excellent spot. read more

Our second community dinner Monday evening with Chef Samir and Rachel, along with their stellar staff and 40 other community attendees, was a wonderful adventure into a diversity of gastronomy and conversations! The Spanakopita, mini burrata, roasted leg of lamb, orzo, tahini-roasted potatoes, fried eggplant were well presented and absolutely delicious topped off with fig and olive oil cake for dessert. We came here for a little anniversary dinner. The staff was incredibly friendly, and I left genuinely wanting to be friends with one of the servers. The ambiance is charming, with plenty of little knickknacks to admire. I also loved seeing the owners buzzing around the restaurant. It definitely has that mom-and-pop, labor-of-love feel. My lamb was amazing and incredibly juicy. The fries that came with it were perfectly crispy. The dish also included some beans (I can't remember the exact name), which reminded me of edamame. They didn't have much flavor beyond the lamb juices they sat in, but I still cleared my plate. The absolute highlight of the meal was the sangria. I had to pace myself because I could have finished my glass in 30 seconds flat -- it was that delicious. The ice cubes even had orange and lemon peels inside, adding extra flavor as they melted. We went on their special ramen pop-up dinner and it was a fantastic meal from start to finish. The ramen was so good I was craving ramen for days after. For a vegetarian ramen, the broth was velvety and full bodied. You could not tell this was a meatless broth. The best vegetarian ramen I've had for sure. I can't wait until their new place opens so I can get another taste of that wonderful dish. We also tried their veggie spring rolls which were fried crispy with a flavorful filling. Truly a great experience. First I want to really compliment the staff. Our server Tyson as well as others did a superb job. For every course we received fresh plates and silverware which other restaurants should take note of. I had stated on Open table that it was our anniversary. As soon as we sat down Tyson was then with a complimentary split of champagne for us. Such a nice start to the evening. Seats were comfortable and many tables were divided with bookshelves so that you felt as though you had a private quiet area. We started with the fried thing of the day which was 3 brisket stuffed egg rolls. Delicious and the tomatillo salsa accompanying it really enhanced the flavor. We also ordered the burrata which was also delicious. Putting the cheese and tomatoes and balsamic on toast was delicious although I did not really taste any of the ricotta inside the burrata. They change their menu monthly - in terms of entrees I wish there had been more choice- perhaps a nice piece of fish or steak? They did have dishes for vegetarians and vegans which was nice. We both ordered the scallops with grits. Scallops were delicious. I am not a grits person but my husband is and claimed these were some of the best and flavorful grits he has ever had. I had their homemade chocolate layer cake and it was rich and decadent. I also tried my husband's affogato which was espresso with Nutella gelato. He made me give it back lol. Quite possibly the best meal we've ever eaten! From starters of tallow fries and focaccia (which were both excuisite) to entrees and dessert! Each entree was so well thought out and creative. The restaurant is small but we appreciated that the tables were well spaced and it was not too noisy. Our entrees were all incredible: short ribs, duck pozole, lamb bolognese, and pork medallions. Dessert featured chai tea crème brûlée which was out of this world! We will definitely be back. I ordered a coconut espresso-type drink that puts Sbux to shame! So tasty! Appetizers consisted of a creamy burrata-based creation topped with toasted walnuts and a side of toasted baguette slices.
