They had rebuilt my transmission in Oct '23 on my truck.. Did a good job and were fast and efficient. My wife's car was having problems and making noise. Thought it might be a CV joint. Dropped off at 11am on 12/22/23. Got a call at 5pm said it was fixed. Turned out to be a loose caliper from a previous recent repair from another shop (who told me they couldn't look at it till after Jan 1st). No charge and wished me a Merry Christmas on top of it. Traveling from TX to VA we had a mechanical issue after stopping for gas in Dickson TN. We found Grisham's by a quick search and slowly rolled into the lot. They had our Jeep on the lift in 30 mins and found the issue, broken Drive shaft. They went above and beyond to get us on the road, shuttled us to lunch and to a hotel. They even drove to a shop to get the correct part ( after numerous incorrect ones delivered). Once they had the part they stayed late to get it fixed. Great guys doing great work. read more

I've been having issues with my car accelerating, I took it to about 4 different places. One place told me it was a transmission issue. Took it to Harold who looked at my car and told me that absolutely wasn't the issue. I then took it to the dealership who told me I needed a new transmission, new torque converter and new fluid. Brought it back to Harold who once again, after keeping it and looking at it for a week said that isn't the issue. Told me it was most likely a converter problem. He recommended a buddy at another shop who confirmed the converter is stopped up. An 800 dollar fix compared to 3,000. I'm thankful for men like Harold in a business like this where it would have been easy to take advantage of me not knowing much about cars. He could have easily said I needed a new transmission but he wasn't out to take my money. Thank you for being honest and kind! I would absolutely take any car to Harold. read more

The owner gave me a full diagnosis of my car - a broken bracket that was causing the noise and a fuel power issue. I have a 2010 Honda Accord with 55k miles. May 5, 2018, Engine died, when driving my husband home from hospital after a heart transplant. Took it too Grisham's Transmission in Dickson, TN. It was determined that the engine would have to be replaced. We got the run around for a month and a half about when the car would be ready. They found a used engine that had 66k miles on it. Paid nearly $3k. We picked up the car mid June, and the air conditioner didn't work and took it locally to find Grisham's guys didn't plug it back in right. Another $50. Didn't drive the car much for nearly a month. Husband goes back into hospital for complications with his new heart. I drove back and forth to hospital a few times (Linden Tn to Nashville). Hadn't put 1000 miles on the car yet, and my car dies AGAIN. In the meantime, I had taken car to Waltrips Honda to have airbags replaced as per national recall.)I had to have my car towed to my home for $148, to get home,so I could get another vehicle to drive. (Husband ended up on life support in ICU and I didn't have time to fool with car.) Made many calls to Grishams, most of all went unreturned. When we are FINALLY able to talk to owner, after several days of being promised a call back, he refuses to make it right. We are still within the 7k mile warranty. But he then tells us that "junkyard" motors are only warranted for 90 days. Without looking at the car again, he said that I must've driven the car hot. I did not. (He said my car had been worked on twice since they fixed it, also voiding warranty. Hmmmm, national recall, and had as plugged in. We asked him to have the car towed back up to Dickson and he refused. Grishams does NOT stand behind their work. I would NOT recommend this business to anyone. read more

The owner was really nice and only charged me $40 for a diagnosis. He ended up telling me nothing was really wrong, but he took the time to drive around with me in the car for 15 minutes to show me what he meant and give me a chance to point out what I was feeling. He freely dispensed some great car wisdom and care tips as well. I was referred here by another local business and told he's "the best in town". I have no trouble believing that. read more

In June of 2011, my wife and I took our 2002 Acura CL to Grisham to have our transmission looked at, and we were told that it needed to be rebuilt. Grisham gave an initial estimate of $1,800, then said it was actually going to cost $3,429.57. When I inquired about an extended warranty, I was steered away from getting anything more than the standard 6-month warranty, being assured that things rarely go wrong after that point. When we requested an itemized receipt (the description of repairs was vague at best), we were told it would cost $15 extra. After questioning him on that, he didn't make us pay for it. We were charged for 18 1/2 hours of labor, but the car was only there for 14 1/2 open business hours, even though there were more cars than employees. Over the next few weeks, however, we continued to notice that it seemed to be shifting funny. I called Grisham (7/11/11) and mentioned that it was shifting hard, but he dismissed my concern, saying that was because all the parts were tight. It continued to run so poorly that we took the car back in a few weeks later (8/2/11), and we were told once again that it was shifting properly. Our check engine light came on and we were told by our regular mechanic that it was a transmission code (unfortunately, our mechanic cleared the check engine light before we took it to Grisham, so it wasn't possible to know exactly what went wrong). On 5/27/12 (less than one year after the repair), the transmission gave out while we were driving 75mph on the highway. There was a good deal of smoke and a horrible burnt smell. When we finally coasted to the next exit, we had to get the car towed to a mechanic, where we were soon told that the transmission was "cooked." We had it towed from southern Indiana to Grisham's Transmission in Nashville on 6/1/12, and we were left waiting outside of the shop until the employees returned from a long lunch break around 1:25, though their voicemail message says they take lunch from 11:30-1:00. They couldn't find our invoice in their files, despite the fact that the repair had occurred less than a year before. After a couple days, Grisham offered to fix the transmission for "just the price of parts," saying he would try to keep it at no more than $800. The part was a torque converter, one of the parts he had supposedly replaced the year before. Our itemized receipt from the first fix said the part cost around $300. We ended up going through a trusted mechanic instead, and they quoted us $800 to fix the torque converter, which included $500 worth of labor. Once our mechanic got into the transmission, however, he said it did need to be rebuilt again, and he did it for about half the price Grisham had charged us. He also mentioned that some of the seals had been improperly installed and that it looked as though the torque converter had just been painted black the last time and potentially not replaced at all. For all these reasons and for the overall attitude we felt we got from Grisham at every step, we would not recommend going to him for transmission work. We even went back to him to explain our experience and tell him that we couldn't recommend him, and he basically just said we could leave a negative review but that he would come back and refute everything we said and that people would understand his side. I guess that's one way of looking at it, but it didn't strike us as anything near the customer service he touts on his website: "...you can have peace of mind that when you trust Grisham's Transmission Center with your vehicle that your transmission issue will be quickly diagnosed and properly serviced the first time. We don't believe in second chances when it comes to transmission repair. We stand by all work performed in our shop 100% and guarantee your satisfaction. Your car needs to be in proper working order at all times and you can trust the experts at Grisham's Transmission Center to keep it that way." read more

I had my 1981 car towed there with instructions to rebuild the transmission. After looking at it, they realized a hose had been disconnected. They put it in place and saved me $1600. I can't thank them enough. I would highly recommend them! read more

The service was great. But the price was extremely High $324.85 considering the part cost $17.99 for the heater control valve and $14.00 for antifreeze and a tow less then a mile. However I will not be using this place again this is highway robbery read more

Honest People!!! I went in with an OD light on and they checked my codes... My codes came back clear... They kept it for 2 days trying to get it to malfunction again so they could diagnose it... And it turns out, My OD light just has an intermittent connection in it and doesn't like the cold weather... They didn't charge me a dime for all the work they did trying to diagnose the problem.... Any other shop would have taken the opportunity to sell the customer things that they didn't need... Not Grisham's... They are Good Honest People!!! I recommend them highly!!! read more
