I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Two Frays. We went on a Sunday from around 4-6. Great service and easy to find parking! We sat out on their patio because it was a lovely day. I had their Juicy Hazy IPA. 10/10! So good I had another. If you do not drink beer, they had a good selection of non alcoholic drinks as well including a lavender mocktail. They encourage you to order food from nearby businesses and bring it over to eat which is exactly what we did. I will definitely be back! read more

I've been to Two Frays twice in the past few weeks so I'm going to consolidate both visits into one review. Both times, I sat outside on their patio during my visit. They have seating inside as well. I placed my order at the bar and then found somewhere to sit. In addition to regular beer, they have n/an options and arsenal cider. The staff have always been super friendly when I've done. They don't serve food but there are eateries nearby that you can order food and bring it/have it delivered to Two Frays. Both times, the vibes were nice and chill. Two Frays is a great spot in Garfield. They're super neighborhood oriented and dog friendly. They always have a variety of beers and are well-known for their Nonalcoholic offerings. Not only do they brew NA beer, but they have NA cocktails and ginger beer available. The outside area is cute and has fire pits and a covered pavilion. This trip I had the Schwartzbier Terminator Tinkerbell which is a perfect winter lager and Jen's lil Cuties which was porter conditioned in chocolate and orange candies. It was sweet, but I enjoyed this twist on a more classic porter. We recently attended trivia here too which was fun. They always have great events, feature local artists, and occasionally have food trucks/vendors. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. read more

Small, hipster, locally owned brewery. My favorite thing about Two Frays is their mod Monday a.k.a. non-alcoholic Mondays where they only sell non-alcoholic drinks. I have been sober for 22 months and I haven't seen a business do anything like this. The vibes are great. The workers are great. I've met so many friends here. They have an outdoor patio and free board games for guest to enjoy. Highly recommend checking it out. read more

Fantastic patio! Even though it's right on Penn Ave, they've designed it to feel a bit more secluded from traffic. Love the colorful variety of seating. They also host a wide variety of organizations and theme nights, like trivia, movies, and community nights. Super fun! They have a nice selection of in-house beers and brew their own NA beer with unique flavors so you don't have to settle for the same few options offered everywhere. They allow outside food, and there are some great options in the area. read more

I love the Bloomfield/Garfield/East Liberty area, but this place disappointed in every category to be honest. It definitely isn't of my favorite breweries in Pittsburgh and there are a lot, but mainly because it has zero character whatsoever. The atmosphere seems stuffy which is odd considering where it's at plus it's a brewery, but nobody seemed to be having fun, just drinking beer like it's a job they hate. Truth! I love the building itself and the beer garden is cool, but the inside is very hospital like with zero charm or any coolness level and we didn't see anyone smiling or having fun. Odd! So we left after a flight and a beer and cider. The layout is just off and the way the bar is laid out causes confusion when people were walking in and trying to order beer. The people who waited on us weren't super welcoming or friendly either. The beers are just okay and nothing to rant and/or rave about. Will I go back the next time I am in the area, maybe! I believe everyone deserves a chance for redemption. read more

This place has been on my list of stops for sometime since they opened. It's on the east of the city where I do not adventure too often. I'm happy I was able to stop by finally. Easy to locate with GPS, parking on the street only. Small brewery for seating inside but wasn't crowded which made it work. Plus they have a nice spacious outside deck area to sit. It rained so thankfully they had seating under a roof. They do not offer flights, but they will do 5 oz pours for 4-6 beers. I did 4 (5) oz pours of the two hazy ipa's, french lager and red ale. They were all tasty but my favorite was the LG2P Hazy. They have chips, but I noticed people leaving and picking up food from around the corner as it appeared to be some type of pizza shop nearby. The setup inside is nice and reminds me of an ice cream shop but better with craft beers available. This marks the 94th micro-brewery that I've visited in the Pittsburgh region. Only 7 more to go and I've been to everyone of them. :) Cheers!!! read more

What a welcome new addition to Garfield. The space is absolutely incredible. Beautifully put together. There's an outdoor garden/patio section with artwork and murals by local artists. The beers are so fantastic. We're so lucky to have so many amazing breweries in Pittsburgh. The pours rival some of the best in the country. I love them all but my fave hands down is Jen's Porter. I'm a huge fan of stouts and porters and this is definitely in my top 3. Service right now is for take-out only. Support local!! read more

My friend had booked this place for her birthday party! It was a fun night! Every beer we had was really good. They also had good non alcoholic options. I stopped by Two Frays with a group of friends on a Friday around 5:00. We were attending a Dry January event that was very well attended. I had the You Do You NA Tangerine Sour, which was delicious! My friends also tried the mocktail on draft, NA Porter, and the Low ABV IPA. All of these are great options for anyone trying to stay away from alcohol. I would come back in the future to try them again and also try the regular alcoholic beers they have, as well. They do not serve food here, but you can bring your own. There are plenty of options close by! The taproom is very clean looking and there is a decent amount of seating inside. The outside has a nice area that is also dog friendly! There were many people outside with heaters on, even though it was a colder night. The bathrooms are very inclusive and I really appreciated that there was not only a changing station in the stall for parents with young ones, but also feminine products available, as well. The service was great! The bartenders were very kind and answered all the questions the group asked. The owners were made sure that everyone was comfortable and having a great time. A very solid brewery! I love their sour beer but honestly I haven't tried one of their beers I didn't like before. In the summer there's great options for our door seating but in the colder months the inside is pretty small and the largest tables sit four people (you could probably squeeze a few tables together though). I would definitely say it's better if it's only you and one or two other people space wise. Over all a cool place! read more

Stopped by Two Frays on Friday around 4PM and I'm so glad I did!! They had a great variety of beer, which meant both my husband (who prefers IPAs) and I (who prefer fruited beers/sours) found something we loved! I should've taken a picture of the purple beer because it was awesome. There's places to sit outside and inside, and their patio is dog friendly. They don't serve hot food (just some bags of chips) but there are many places around to grab food from - whether you're in the mood for pizza, tacos, Indian food, etc. We were able to grab street parking about a block away. We got to meet the owners, Mike and Jen, who were super sweet and we got to learn more about their beers (like how they brew that awesome purple beer). Liz helped us pick out the perfect beers for our taste and we even snagged some beer to go. Overall, a really great spot and I'm looking forward to returning! read more

We had to park about 2 1/2 blocks away and carried our dogs to Two Frays. We sit down, get a beer menu only for someone to come out and tell us we had to leave because they were having a baby shower. Newer brewery opened just over a yearish. Nice variety of beers from sours to IPA to stout. Clean, inside space and nice outdoor area for nice days to enjoy sun and brew. Also has some covered space if you want some shade. Only thing of note is they don't freely do tastes of their beer and rather prefer you to purchase their 5oz taster. Probably one of very few breweries that do this unfortunately. Besides that, a good brewery to try out at least once. read more

Garfield is turning hipster. We stopped in for a drink at 2 Frays while waiting for a table at Soju, and were rewarded. They have a ton of beer on tap (I'm not sure if it is all made by them or not). My beer, called Cashual, was described as a table Saison beer, or a French farmhouse beer. Whatever, it was a little fruity and had a bit of spice, and I'd be happy to imbibe more. Like most breweries, they are heavy on IPAs, but that is the big trend so I can't hold it against them. There is a lovely outdoor seating area that was packed, and we appreciated that they didn't frown on us bringing in kids (as long as they were not drinking alcohol, obviously!) read more

Two Frays is a cool spot and much needed in Garfield. It has become a meeting place for locals within walking distance. The interior is very cool and well done. They also have an amazing patio on the side of the building. They have a nice selection of beers to try by the pint or as a flight. And they usually have a stocked cooler with to-go cans if you find a favorite. Pro-tip: check this place out on the first Friday of the month. Penn Avenue hosts the Unblurred Art Crawl. Since we only moved to Pittsburgh a little over 2 years ago, & those past 2 years have been pretty insane, some days we just feel like driving around & "discovering" new places to try. The other day we ended up in the Garfield neighborhood & saw Two Frays so we had to stop in. What an incredibly clean, brightly decorated, adorable little spot. You could smell all of the brewing ingredients. Growing up as an Iowa girl it created some nostalgia & I thought, "man, my dad would love the smell in here...it reminds me of the farm." (Not in the bad manure way, in the fresh hay way.) Anyway, on to the beer here! I had the Doppelbock Maple Pecan & it was delicious! I'm not a huge beer lover, but had a major favorite beer at a local brewery in Philadelphia called "Rasin Cane". This isn't quite as spiced, but is one of the most similar beers I've tried to it. I really enjoyed it! Another perk is that this cute little spot seems to have thought of everything you could need & has it in the bathrooms for their guests. Even pony tail holders! Cute, chill little brewery in Garfield. Removing a star because I feel like the seating situation in the outside space could be a little better (more stools around the tables, more efficient spacing). Parking can also be difficult around here depending on what time of day you go. Came here with two friends of mine on a Thursday evening around 7pm. There was nowhere to sit inside or outside, but makes me happy to see a new place with this much success, especially in this neighborhood. I tried the Sor'ace and it was a delight. My friends tried 3-4 of the other brews and raved about all of them. Service was very friendly, bartenders were knowledgeable and helpful with selecting a beer. I'd love to come back here but would come earlier in the evening to have a better shot at getting a place to sit. read more

This is your fairly typical, unremarkable, cookie cutter hipster-oriented brewery serving slightly spendy (6 dollars and up) craft beers brewed on-premises. Cider is good and some mildly interesting craft beers on tap. I'm not really a craft beer person but have been informed there is a small selection of whiskey and/or wine so may try next time. The staff are friendly and know the neighborhood. This place isn't 100% my scene but it is open relatively early (always a plus for any bar), gets well-behaved and inoffensive clientele, and might be worth it as an interlude between various dining/shopping/coffee stops on other nearby parts of Penn Ave. Per the city, limited capacity of 55 patrons at this establishment, so don't expect any huge neighborhood block parties here. read more
