The other locations simply did not provide the expected and advertised care. Grace Residential Care Home does. I'd even go so far as to call it "overwhelming support and care." We are confident that Aunt Wanda is taken care of - no worries. The facilities are sharp, clean, well appointed, with a beautifully manicured patio and yard area with wonderful blooming plants. The food is homemade and the residents all say it is delicious. Our experiences at the past two memory care facilities were disappointing at best, and we never felt 100% comfortable. With Grace, I never have to wonder what is going on, because Lidia texts or calls me regularly if I need any information. I know my mom is extremely well cared for, and is shown love and affection daily. She went through a short combative phase and they were patient and helped us find a plan that alleviated her stress. She has really enjoyed the musical groups, crafts and special events. They even make sure she has her favorite gospel music on her tv! I really can't recommend Grace Residential highly enough and am so thankful to have such wonderful people care for her during this difficult stage.

The first placement option was not acceptable to put him in a home with 3-4 people in a room. Well after informing her that this wasn't acceptable, I increased what was already a tight budget and limited time frame, as he was being discharged from the hospital. The home that she referred me to based on photos and the recommendation of Malana, I agreed. Well needless to say when I went to the home, there were some very legitimate concerns and a few things that weren't disclosed. I spoke with Malana to ask for assistance in placing my dad elsewhere and I'd try to find a place within the 30 day timeframe in which I had already paid to this home. I asked for discretion and asked that she not address these things because my dad was still there in their care, and I feared retaliatory actions. My dad was placed in a personal care home with a married couple who was the resident managers which was disclosed, what was not disclosed is that it was a lesbian couple, this bring an issue because my dad needed assistance with being lifted) and their kids, and 1 other client (roommate) living in a converted formal dining room. Not only that, they are operating a salon within the home, which is more alarming with Covid cases increasing. This was not a personal care home as described, it is family home with a salon and an opportunity to take advantage of what of already a tough situation. With budget restraints of $1200 a month, I didn't expect a suite but I definitely deserved the professional courtesy of allowing me to address things on my terms, and an opportunity to find solution, yet Malana disregarded my request, disclosed my concerns to the owner and when I showed up to see my dad yesterday, which was discussed and planned the day prior, I was not allowed in the home. I'm between a rock and hard place because my dad needs care but because Malana was more concerned about her reputation, and me disclosing this to the hospital social worker, instead of my dads well being, I'm in the position of losing $1200 or risk the chance of my dad's care. If your family is in search of someone to respect boundaries, have genuine compassion, full disclosure, keep looking because you get the total opposite here. I genuinely hope your journey for care ends up better than the level of care that I received.
