After a few months of driving all the way to HB LA Fitness and trying out their awesome Pilates Reform classes, I'm back! The gym itself is nice with lots of machines. I only use the stationary bike, treadmills and some of the other equipment. I usually go on weekday mornings and it is not that crowded. There's also plenty of parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My gripe is regarding their customer service and company policy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was told that I could put a hold on my membership any month if I wanted, but both times that I tried, because I was traveling, I was told that it was too late and my CC had already been charged[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I also wanted to change my membership to 1 club only and thus save $5 pm, but they say that I have to cancel and re enroll and pay the enrollment fee again. This club will be permanently CLOSED on Monday, May 25, 2026 at 4:00pm. The closest Plan B option for me is the Cherry/Carson or the PCH location. The last time I visited these two locations, they were not clean, equipment was rusted and in desperate need of upgrades. Allegedly the PCH location has been remodeled. TBD. read more

Just called to see when the jacuzzi will be ready be fixed. This has already bern broken for 3 months already. The guy at the front desk it should be fixed by the end of November. How hard is it to get a permit to fix the unit and then actually fix it. The floors in the locker room, showers, pool area are filled and I have gotten four fungus twice in this place. The cleaner uses a squeegee to move the water from one area to the other. They have gone through at least 5 cleaners and the bathrooms are the I dirtiest around California. Look above at the air vents and see the dirty growing from it!!!! read more

I've been a member of LA Fitness (on and off) since the early 2000s, and I'm really disappointed with the new "No Gym Bags on the Floor" policy at the Long Beach locations. When I originally signed up, there was no rule against having a small gym bag with basic training gear (straps, bands, sleeves, roller, etc.). Now staff are telling us no bags on the floor at all--everything must stay in a locker or car. For anyone who trains seriously, this slows down workouts, makes it harder to use safety/recovery tools, and can even increase the risk of injury when our equipment isn't accessible. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What bothers me most is how this was done. There's no clear, easy-to-find bag policy on the LA Fitness website when you sign up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Instead, this rule is being pushed later through local signs and staff, which feels like a unilateral change to what members originally agreed to--and potentially a breach of contract, since the conditions of use are being changed after the fact while dues stay the same. If the concern is theft or safety, there are better options (more security, cameras, size/placement limits) than banning all gym bags for everyone. As a long-time member, this feels like a downgrade in both service and transparency, and LA Fitness should either rethink this policy or be upfront and fair with members who no longer feel they're getting what they signed up for. read more

I love that this LA Fitness has a no bags on the floor policy. It might seem like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference. At one point it was getting out of control with bags everywhere, creating clutter and potential safety issues. Now the gym feels so much more organized, open, and easy to move around in. It's clear the staff really cares about keeping this club safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone. The floors stay clear, the equipment areas feel less chaotic, and the overall vibe is more professional and respectful. Little policies like this show that management is paying attention and listening to members. Thank you to the team for continuing to make this a positive place to work out. I was billed for my annual fee yesterday and thought it was probably the right time to go in and cancel my membership since it might not even be an LA Fitness for the entire year. The manager said they needed a 3-5 business notice for annual fee reversal and I'm going to be billed for the year I wont even have LA fitness. After 18 years at 24hr fitness, I wanted a change and gave LA FITNESS A TRY. I was very disappointed the manager would not allow a trial so I bought a member ship: after two full weeks of my Routine I am very disappointed at the very old equipment. I will say the place is clean and well taken care of but the equipment is not good and the set up is very poor for a successful routine. read more

Well it's that time of the year, gotta get my dad bod ready for the river. I'd like to start off by saying I don't visit too many gym's. However, that has all changed now for the better. I have found the one! I would like to acknowledge Giovanni for being a superstar employee. He makes you feel welcome, empowered, & at home when you visit this gym. It's like going to see family, the kind of family you actually like. He answered many questions I had regarding machines, programs, personal training and any other services the gym has to offer (believe me, there is a lot) with great professionalism. I wish there were more employees like him at places like this. Tell a friend, tell a family member, registering is quick and hassle free with no pressure. Trust me, you won't regret it. MINUS 5 STAR This gym has way too many people using too few machines with NO rules of etiquette posted. In fact, I was told that anyone can stay at a machine or weights as long as they want...doing emails, talking, whatever. These rude people leave towels or clothes on machines to come back after they go to another machine. Be prepared for long waits, frustration, ill manners, bullying, etc. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Staff is no help.![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] LA Fitness claims a policy of no bags on the floor...a lie. I thought it was a good gym until recently. Now some things are going awry. The hot tub has been closed for two months, and there's no sign they're even working on it. One day there was no hot water, even for showers. They're closing the pool for three months, but offering no compensation to members for the reduction in amenities. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Alyssa listened patiently as I explained my son and I had to terminate our memberships as I was laid off back in November of 2023 and while my membership was cancelled, my son's was not.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The memberships were under my card. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She was apologetic and I explained how unprofessional the location was, she continued apologizing seeking what would could be done to remedy the situation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I gave some of the examples of unprofessionalism we encountered, she referred me to corporate by providing the address, and reiterated this is not the standard LA Fitness is about.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now onto the cancellation...I cancelled the accounts in 2023 as I lost my job, and they only cancelled my account and my son made several attempts to cancel by phone and was given runarounds. I'm hoping to get this resolved quickly since 2023, my card has been charged and accounts affected. The place is way smaller than I thought. I took a tour to see the facility. There is a pool (I think a jacuzzi too but I didn't venture to the end of the woman's locker room lol), infra red sauna, tons of weight machines, one of those pedaling classes (the bike machines can be use when class is not in session). They have no running hot water for at least two whole weeks. I went in May 15 for a good workout. When I finished my workout, headed to lockers so I could take a good shower. This gym is very small and in need of upgrades and maintenance. One big downside is that during peek hours the basketball gym is hogged by personal trainers. I find that crazy that LA fitness would allow outside trainers into their gym. Do they pay the gym to rent out workout areas? Or is this actually undercutting LA fitness trainers? At the very least trainers should have to face a fee for taking up equipment and workout areas for so long. read more

So I love this place great place to work out without much stress no drama. Depending on the day and the time you go determines how full it is. But that's normal for Gyms. I had a trainer that I worked out with that I'm going to be going back to he is amazing. So patient with me and pushes Me harder than any. I have been super sore every time and he pays attention towards my needs and what I'm asking as far as what I need to accomplish. Trenton is the best trainer. I I have been told by quite a few of my friends that they go to him and so I gave it a try and I am so glad because he is the best. No one called back as promised so I go in person to see what happened a Janice is playing with her phone while I explain Erick the situation. I said yes but we came in person to double check before our summer trip since we take our daughter to swimming lessons there. This La fitness is located in a big plaza so parking is a breeze! There's also grocery stores and restaurants around which is pretty cool if you wanted a post workout meal or make it an errand day :) Had no issues coming in the gym, got greeted and scanned by the really nice staff over there :) The gym is pretty clean and it's pretty awesome that there are cleaning stations where you can grab some wipes to clean the workout equipment that you were using. The gym equipment look relatively new and didn't see any broken machines which is cool (seen a lot of 'closed for maintenance' signs in other La fitness gyms). The locker rooms are pretty well maintained and clean. Kudos to the cleaning staff, they do a great job! I expected tons of people to be at the gym around 5pm in the month of January (new year, new people! We support it!) but surprisingly, it wasn't as crowded as I expected it to be. read more

Not liking the transition to complete re-opening! This place is missing the mark. POST COVID Long Beach Yellow Tier: SAUNA. Re-opened with max capacity of four, which I really appreciate. Sign is posted, but really should also indicate whether mask is required while using the sauna... You would think it's common sense during a pandemic, but some people really need help with that. GROUP CLASSES. First come first, first serve. Even with the change in tiers, the number of participants shouldn't exceed the number of marked spots. At least that's what I was told when I inquired at the front desk. Class was above the max capacity, with people just squeezing their a$$e$ in. SHOWERS. These are no longer blocked off and they have reinstalled the shower gel dispensers. WATER FOUNTAINS. The ones in the womens locker room, which are the ones I usually use to refill, have signs that they are not for use. read more

I am visiting Long Beach to see my sister. I came to this LA Fitness because of the good reviews. It is as so clean, equipment looked well maintained, and the general manager gave me a mini tour. I did the "Boot Camp" Aqua Aerobics class taught by Damon. He was fantastic and I really enjoyed the hard workout - loved the music. I'm looking forward to going back this week. As a gym, this place is fine. Good number of machines. Great spin classes. Great cleaning staff. They offer wipes so you can wipe down machines. But beware: if you are a woman at this gym, you will be constantly hit on and harassed. Your personal space and boundaries don't exist in this gym. It doesn't matter what you wear, what you look like or how old you are, as long as you even mildly resemble a woman, you will be approached by creeps. You will be bothered in the parking lot. You will be bothered in the middle of your set. You will be constantly leered at and watched while you work out. You will feel like a gazelle standing in front of a pride of hungry lions. If you go to this gym, get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable because the creeps here are relentless. read more
