I'm in a bit of a situation here. I LOVE this place because it feels like I'm in a small town, which I am, but I'm only an hour and a half from Pasadena. Time has slowed down here and that feels so good when you need to get away from LA. I Love the lobby of this place. It's filled with local goods before it was "cool" to sell local. I just wish so badly that the food was good. The chorizo and eggs had way too much chorizo and needed more eggs. Although the hashbrowns were extremely good. I also highly suggest the hot chocolate. My biscuits and gravy were a big disappointment. The gravy tasted like flour and no amount of salt and pepper could correct the flavor. Here's the thing, I still want to go back because it's so adorable there. I'll just have to try something maybe a little bit more full proof. Maybe a waffle! read more

Overall everything was pretty meh. The workers kind of ignored us so the whole meal took a lot longer than it should have. French toast was ok but pretty dry so i had to drown it in syrup. Country fried steak was like a hamburger patty fried not actual steak so it tasted like mush with fried breading and gravy on top. The least bad thing was probably the biscuits and gravy but it needed quite a bit of salt and pepper. So we decided to try to snowboard at Mountain High in the rain, and it did not end well...Our whole trip felt ruined, but we decided to stop by for some lunch before heading home. First time here, and this place literally turned our whole entire trip around! In short, the service was simply amazing and the comfort style food was delicious!! We got the Grizzly Burger, the Clam Chowder, Chicken Wings, and the Tuna Melt. The grizzly burger was flavorful with thick slabs of bacon inside. I like how the veggies were outside the burger, so it wouldn't all spill out when you tried to bite into it. The clam chowder was just the right thickness consistency and clam/potato amount to chowder. The tuna melt wasn't dry or bland, it had a good mixture of tuna, cheese, and mayonnaise. The wings were standard wings like at BWW, and I prefer Korean style wings so I wasn't too much of a fan. However, all the other dishes were phenomenal. I think what made this cafe a 5 star place was the service from our waitress. She was so enthusiastic and kind. She made our dining experience truly pleasurable with her recommendations and hyping up the food (which the food did live up to the hype!). The best part was when we asked if the cafe had tea, and her face lit up as she was telling us how they have a variety of teas in a little bucket she could supply for us and a cup of hot water, where we could pick from all the different types of tea. I've been here twice and though the place was pretty cool. I don't know of any other one with a gift shop but if they did away with that the place would have less of a wait time and more space to sit people. The one bathroom makes it a little scary because I wasn't expecting that when we got there already having to go. The food was good I had a dip if I remember correctly and that was good. Reluctantly get our names and said 25 to 39 min wait. After waiting 25 min we said we can sit at the bar. She she got a table for us and showed us to a table by the window. That table was available since we got there. I was questioning why they not sit anyone there. Sit at the table and started waiting for attention. Waiter come to all other tables but our table around us. They were ignoring us for some reason. After waiting for another 30 minutes we walked out of the place. Terrible customer service. Had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious late lunch with my buddy today. What an experience. The waitress we had, the young lady with the glasses, was the best waitress I ever had in the states. Overseas, many many restaurants give superior service. Nothing less for our waitress today. The patty melt is my personal favorite. Had the western today, it was delicious. Try their blue cheese dressing as a dipping sauce for a pretty well made shoestring French fry. Reasonable wait time. All staff where charismatic and strong work ethic. We have been frequenting The Grizzly Cafe for a number of years. We decided to try out their dinner specials for Thursday. It was Prime Rib. And I have to tell you like the rest of their food items. It was beyond a 5 Star Rating. Not only for the awesome Prime Rib, but the vegetables and baked potato was off the charts! The people at the cafe are so ridiculous and rude. I always get a burger to go from them because they don't allow dogs inside. Their burgers come out to $30 but whatever, it's the only game in town. Today I went in and they said we are not doing to go orders. I said ok can I use the bathroom - which I have used many times before when I walk over with my dog to get food to go - and she wouldn't let me! Seriously! Impeccable service. I really cannot emphasize how great the service is here. I think the waitress is name Jannette and she was the only waitress that was there on a Tuesday. My brother and I were snowboarding at Mt. High, and we snowboard twice a week so we were bored of the food at Mt. High. We decided that we were going to go into Wrightwood and find a restaurant to eat, so we looked on Yelp and decided this was the place for us. When we walked in there was a party of 4 ahead of us, and a hostess scrambling around during a possible shift change. We put our name on a paper and then waited. The wait wasn't even that long, perhaps about 15 minutes. The waitress kept profusely apologizing and she was very sweet. We ordered the black and blue burger and the patty melt. Both were very delicious and we got the sweet potato side and the onion ring side. Sweet potatoes were very crunchy and very crispy, fried just right. The onion rings were deliciously salted (but not too salty) and also very crispy. The black and blue burger (we got it double for 3 dollars more) was humongous and had great depth of flavor from the cheese and the well done patties (i forgot to ask for a medium rare). The patty melt was equally delicious, but sad that we forgot to request provolone cheese, but we were still very satisfied with it. I got a beer to go along with my meal and it was just perfect. I think we might have stuffed ourselves too much as I felt like I was about to explode, but I digested it while I was riding at the resort. read more

Not too long ago, I was in Wrightwood to do some zip lining high above the tree tops! However, we arrived early and had time to enjoy a hearty breakfast. So just as anyone else would do, we Yelped popular breakfasts establishments and Grizzly Cafe had several positive reviews. As we pulled into the parking lot, I noticed the rustic feel of the exterior. Two large swings hang in front of the restaurant with bench seats that are wide enough to seat 2 to 3 average size people. When you enter the restaurant, you'll be taken aback by the continuous country kitchen theme that resonates throughout the facility. Like many places that see an influx of tourists throughout the year, they have a gift shop filled with Fall-themed items. Plus given that this is called Grizzly Cafe, there are plenty of Grizzly Bear-themed trinkets and kitchen items for you to purchase. There are 3 seating areas: counter, dining room, and patio. If you sit at the counter, don't be alarmed by the fake moose head that moves and winks often. The caribou head on the other side of the counter does appear to be real. The dining area has plenty of tables that have a grizzly bear salt and pepper holder placed in the center! The fireplace is adorned with more outdoor items such as snowshoes, a pair of ice skates, and another deer head! We ordered simple items off of the breakfast menu but were surprised by their generous servings. I ordered a Belgian Waffle and a side of hash browns. The waffle was large but the hash brown portions were overwhelming! Fellow Yelper Nancy L. had a craving for some rice and inquired about this possibility. That is more of a dinner item and isn't served until later in the day. However, after discussing the possibility of having rice with her breakfast, they ended up making it for her. She thought that it would be white rice but it was probably rice pilaf. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. You really do get your money's worth at Grizzly Cafe! Moreover, you should consider the possibility of sharing your meal with your dining companions as you could easily share your meal with a friend or loved one. This was indeed a pleasant surprise! I'm officially hooked on Grizzly Cafe and this will be my go-to place to visit whenever I'm in the Wrightwood area. You won't be disappointed with the food, service, or atmosphere! read more

When we come up to Wrightwood, we always stop at Grizzly Café. It's really one of the best restaurants in town. This Cafe has a unique, rustic charm. Everyone who works here is really friendly. On weekends it can be a bit crowded, but we always try to go in between meals so we miss the breakfast/lunch craziness. Everything at the Grizzly Cafe is delicious. I usually order the omelet for breakfast. It's so good here, and they make it just the way I like it with mushrooms, cheddar cheese, and ham. The lunches and dinners are also great. The hamburgers and fries are amazingly good. I love the onion rings too. Sometimes I'll order a salad (The Cobb, Caesar, and Chinese Chicken salads are all great), and I'll order the onion rings on the side. Somehow having the salad first allows me to have a ton of French fries and onion rings with a little less guilt. The food is just so good here. They also have an adorable little gift shop (The Golden Acorn) attached to the restaurant. They have some really cute things here. Their Fall items are out, and they are starting to put up their Christmas decorations. I love this time of year, and it's nice to see their beautiful Christmas tree up already. They also have cute toys for the kids. We really like the Grizzly Cafe when we're in Wrightwood. According to a couple of the reviews, the desserts are supposed to be amazing too. Our favorite stop in Wrightwood when we're on a motorcycle ride. We love the friendly servers & the kitschy interior. Of course no trip here is complete without browsing the great little gift shop which stocks all kinds of cute seasonal ornaments & fun little mountain themed items. Our go to is the Southwest Turkey sandwich with sweet potato fries. We love that they split it in the kitchen! Very generous portion size, delicious fresh turkey, cheese & a chili on savory toasted bread. Mmmmm so yummy! Parking is easy & you cannot beat the prices. We love that there is outdoor seating too. Every time I have been here the food is barley mediocre and the service is horrible. I have to give a 3 star just because I love Wrightwood and the town and because the location of this restaurant is near some great little stores. I do see that a lot of bikers love it here, my now deceased aunt liked it too, as do a lot of older people but I just have not had any good experiences here especially with the food - I'd honestly rate the place a 1 star but again it's quaint and in a great location. read more
