    St Patty's mint cocktail
    Abby W.

My friends and I spent the weekend in Wrightwood and chose The Yodeler for our first dinner in town. While a lot of the bar food on the menu sounded good, I decided to go with the tri tip hot beef dip with a side of waffle fries. The sandwich was a bit plain and could have used some garlic aioli or cheese to add some oomph but at least the meat wasn't fatty. Since we were there on St. Patty's weekend, they offered a mint cocktail that I had to try.

Really fun place to be. Multiple flat screens so you could watch a variety of sports. The Mountain Burger and the hangover burger were just outstanding! They also had a nice Antipasta salad that comes with four pieces of bread. Plus, the service is friendly and outstanding. We will definitely be back

Irish coffee because it can't all be beer and whisky :)

So we went for a drive and ended up here in Wrightwood. Went up and had a beer at the brewery and then came down to finish up with an Irish Coffee. It was pretty packed because it was St Patrick's Day but we were able to go to the bar and order our drinks. Didn't have a meal but didn't see a lot of people eating and the Corned Beef and Cabbage prices were like way out of touch but I would like to come back and have a burger or sandwich on a non-holiday visit. The service was pretty good considering how packed they were at one point. But the place is cute even though it is small. The person that met us outside and invited us in was super friendly and made us feel comfortable coming in.

The poutine here is AMAZING!! Better than most of the poutine in Canada! The fries are deliciously crunchy. Also got a Ruben sandwich which was really good. Fresh hamburger not frozen patties.

What a great time I had. Glad I dropped in. The Hangover Burger might be the best burger I've had in eons. So good. The egg and Ortega chili were such great additions to a burger. And the Old Fashioned . And the side salad was heavenly. Toys recommend this place.

Coming to the Wrightwood Inn for the first and last time this weekend, wasn't a great way to end the night. Vibes were definitely off with the way one server was treating certain people. As the night went on it got worse. Ive never seen anyone treated so horrible as I witnessed Jessica scream at someone, kicking them out. The other people did nothing and just walked in as she noticed them and yelled at them "to get the f*** out" in their face multiple times, her hands up. Doing that in their face all the way till they simply walked out. Completely out of line. Instead of handling the situation with grace she went over board. We left shortly after. I cannot support a business with workers that treat people in that way. Unacceptable and I wont want anyone I care for treated that way so it definitely wont be a place I suggest to anyone.

Don't expect any type of a dining experience, but when you're fayded-it does the trick! The decor is pretty cool, with a vintage mountain ski vibe and pool tables up stairs. Plenty of locals come through here while it's the only place that stays open late. The drink selection is pretty basic, with simple selections of beer and basic cocktails. The prices are slightly above average. If you are looking for a place to grab a few in this mountain this town, check it out!

The bartender, Amanda, seemed pretty busy taking care of the regulars, which is fair. The TouchTunes jukebox was on, and I went ahead and paid a little extra to jump the line. What happened next was a fascinating display of customer loyalty. The regulars, with a little encouragement from Amanda, started skipping the songs I'd just paid for. It's a bold move, really. I get that the "asshole button" exists for a reason, but it's not usually the bartender's job to press it for sport. Honestly, I don't expect much from a dive bar. But I did expect the simple courtesy of having my music play after I paid for it. It's a small detail, sure, but it's a bit rude to not give your customers a fair shake, no matter who they are. I've always liked this bar, but this time was a bit different. They certainly know how to make new customers feel right at home.

He was questioning the bartender about her pours and just an ass in general. The vibe was very negative. When I got the bill and saw we were charged $9 for a standard well drink (gin/tonic), I was done. That place is not going to bring in any business if it keeps on as is.

For the mountain, it's solid, the bartenders are friendly, the drinks are good, and the food is decent. That said, my main concern is with the atmosphere. It's... fine. And that's exactly the problem. As most of us know, there's a serious lack of entertainment options up here, especially for people under 60. Despite the older demographic, there's still a sizable group of younger, creative, and social folks looking for something to do. Sure, you could be satisfied with a '70s rock cover band for the 100th time in the village, but if not, then Dogwood has the potential to be the go-to spot if it just puts in a bit more effort. The last event listed on your website was in 2019. The last Instagram post was over two months ago, and the one before that was for New Year's Eve. With that kind of minimal effort in promoting and programming, it's no surprise the vibe is lacking. If Dogwood committed even 50% effort to curating consistent experiences and letting people know about them, I believe it could be one of the best spots on the mountain. Come on guys, my 94-year-old grandmother could do a better marketing job than you, and she barely knows how to use the internet. If you do better, you will be better!
