My husband and I usually visit Wrightwood during Xmas. When it's a snowy, winter, wonderland of a ski town. But this time we arrived in the summer to wander around on foot in the warm mtn air. And we drove around looking at all cozy neighboring cottages, for thirsty and hungry for a lil snack and walked into Evergreen Cafe, which is the street it sits on. Ethan greeted us warmly, I ordered two iced tea and a tomatoe soup. And he refilled our iced tea, without asking, thank ya! All were yummy and exactly what we needed for a mid-summer day snack around town. There's also, a wrap around outdoor patio, so we'll bring our doggos next time for a proper vege burger sit-down meal. Hehe. This was our very first time wandering this downtown area, we never knew it existed and it was FUN, friendly, and very cozy. :) Thanks for the wonderful service Ethan. Food was just ok. Hash browns were burnt a little. We started out with a good server and then she went home and we were left with a server that did not even ask us if we needed anything. We were sitting at the counter she walked back in forth many times 2 feet away and never asked once if we needed anything, as she sang her songs and pretty much obnoxious in my opinion. I will never go back. It was not busy but she was more worried about coffee cups and napkins and not taking care of her customers.. both my wife and I said the same thing. Cool spot crappy server. We were in and out in about 30 minutes and the restaurant was packed. The valentines day deco added a lot to the ambiance. They also have a model train circling the ceiling! My kids loved the train. We picked up breakfast burritos from here on our way out of town. We don't eat breakfast meat as my boyfriend is vegetarian and I don't eat pork so we asked for the sunrise burrito without meat. As if being charged the full amount isn't bad enough, they then also upcharged us to add cheese. Why couldn't the cheese just replace the meat? We ended up spending almost $40 for two egg, cheese and potato burritos when they were likely not even worth half the cost. read more

It's been a while since we have been this cafe, but this Monte Cristo never disappoints. Even though it was missing the jalapeño jelly, it was still good. Especially the fries! Hopefully, when we take a drive next time, they will have the jelly. And Our server was extremely nice! read more

There was no bacon on our western burger (which it comes with). Asked for a large Dr.pepper and it was in a coffee cup. Crazy. Service was alright. They forgot that we were waiting outside for the food since it is a smaller establishment. We had to go inside and ask for the food. I really loved this place! Took off a star for the prices aka they are pricey! We spent $60 not including tip for our dinner tonight (2 burgers coleslaw, sweet potato fries) a side of soup and 2 small apple ciders. Most "mountain" cafes are usually just ok, but this one was exceptional. The sweet potato fries esp were cooked perfect with no grease. My only gripe is that they should have some music or something playing in the background, as we could hear the full conversations of the workers having fun and talking about their dating lives, which totally changed the ambiance. Great place and I would totally come back, but maybe would try another place that's a little less expensive. read more

I've been here twice and each time was a truly pleasant experience. Most recently, I had lunch here on Sunday. The server (I didn't get her name, unfortunately) was so affable, as well as prompt and attentive, despite them being obviously busy. I was actually really impressed by her, because she was indefatigable, putting customers first, and doing it all with a cheerful attitude. There was also a young man working with her, and they worked together smooth as silk. As far as customer service went, this was honestly probably one of the best I've experienced in any dining establishment. The food was better than I expected. Down-home quality diner fare. The place is cozy. but it's quirky with its decoration - toy cars hanging from the ceiling, owls, and a toy train that casually makes its way around a track along the upper walls. Peculiar and fun. The first time I came in here was about a year ago. I brought my mother to Wrightwood, and she suddenly had a hankering for dessert and coffee, so we walked in here. So we were on our way home from Tehachapi and decided to stop in Wrightwood. Such a cute little town. Of course I had to pull up YELP to see where we could grab a bite to eat. With both wanted breakfast and the Evergreen Cafe stood out first. Let start with the ambiance. It was the cutest little cafe. It only has maybe 5 booths, maybe 3 table and a counter. On site restrooms for customer only. From the pictures you can see it was decorated and super cozy. When we walked in the door we were immediately greeted by Andie. She was friendly and invited us in and told us to take a seat wherever we wanted. (I think we missed the breakfast rush so we were the only ones in there at that particular time.). Me and the Mr grabbed a booth and perused the menu. The hubby had the 2 egg breakfast with sausage, hash browns, and biscuits and gravy. I opted for the short stack and a side of bacon. Food arrived very quickly. My hubby enjoyed his biscuits and gravy and the pancakes were delicious. Very big and filling. Also everything was served hot. My only side note would be next time to get the hash browns well done so that they could have a little crispness to them. Andie gave us impeccable service. You must visit Evergreen Cafe when in the Wrightwood area and wanting a cozy cabin restaurant vibe. We decided to give Evergreen Cafe a try after a half day of snowboarding at Mountain High. We arrived at around 1:30pm on a Sunday and there was indoor and patio seating readily available and of course we opted for outdoor seating as it was a beautiful sunny day. Our server, April, was extremely attentive and helpful from beginning to end and made our experience enjoyable. We ordered the chicken strips and buffalo chicken strips from the starters menu ($7.95 each), a side of fries ($4.99) to share, and a hot coffee ($3.49). Our food was served hot and quick and everything tasted delicious. Literally just what we needed after a morning on the slopes. It was lovely sitting on the patio and enjoying the picturesque views of the surrounding area. A very uncaring hostesses. We went and added our name in the wait list. The hostess told us a wait time of 35-40 minutes. We went back after 40 minutes and the hostess told us again that the wait time will be another 45 minutes. I asked her why, there were only 3 tables occupied and the rest of the tables empty. She kept saying that they were reserved but I noticed that people never occupied them. I decided to go somewhere and she never called us back to let us know what finally our waiting time was over.
