This unassuming little highway diner turned out to be a wonderful find. I stopped in here on a Sunday morning while on a road trip through the desert. There were quite a few people there but I was still able to get immediate seating. I ordered the french toast which goes for $10.25 and thought it was some of the best I've ever had. I looked around and it looked like everything other people were having also looked very tempting. The service was friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back here again if in the area. We stopped in for lunch and the ambiance and the service and the food was all wonderful. Friendly fast service and solid diner menu and food. Very clean. The outside doesn't do justice to the inside! Drove back from Cal City and couldn't find anything my bf (who has tons of allergies and isn't vegan) and I (vegan with no allergies) could eat before we got here. I was prepared to build a meal of sides. The hashbrowns are made with oil and the beans aren't made using lard. No animal broth in the rice. Asked the waitress if I could get a bean & rice burrito with some fajita veggies made vegan. Also asked for a side of salsa. She was so patient answering my questions (she got tooooo much cardio running back to the kitchen bc of me, I feel so bad ) but the result was delicious, filling and beautiful. And so fairly priced! Bf and I left full and happy. So much nicer than visiting any chain or strictly takeout place. Didn't love that the tv was playing Fox News, though I did like that they had music playing and Fox News on mute. The staff were very nice. Very clean restrooms. Love the huge mirror in the women's room! (Tip: it's not at the sink; it's outside the stalls.) Appreciated that they had cash and non-cash pricing. Only wish they had more extensive hours! Ricky's Highway Cafe has quickly become our family's go-to breakfast spot. Honestly, it's the only place our kids pick when we ask where they want to go. The service is always great, the staff is friendly, and the food is consistently delicious. They have an amazing chorizo burrito (my kids even add bacon to it!), and my personal go-tos are the Hobo or the Mexican Skillet, both always hit the spot. Wonderful. Stopped here for breakfast on our way to Bishop and were so happily surprised that we're planning to stop e for lunch on the way back in a few days. Very cute classic diner vibe, but unlike so many of that sort it was incredibly clean, all the seating and tables and decor etc. seemed in perfect shape. The food was Very reasonably priced, the portions were generous, and it was delicious. Bacon cooked perfectly. But the star of the meal was the biscuits and gravy. Biscuits obviously homemade and gravy seasoned perfectly. The star of the visit, however, was our server RoseLynn. I looked on the receipt to make sure I spelled it right. She was genuinely happy to serve us. I mean, who's actually happy to be at work? It was weird, but it was lovely. One of only two breakfast spots I went to in this area while working out of town. I had the 'Sampler Breakfast' but added the hot links... sweet lord Jesus! Also two hot cakes. Service was great and they checked up on us plenty of times. Nice and quiet. Literally a highway cafe (Sierra Hwy) with plenty of parking. Definitely would come again. read more

This place used to be Wayside cafe but it was sold to the new owners. The place got a full renovation! paints new, the seating looks new, equipment new, lighting is bright and not dim, the counter is clean and bright, even the flooring is new. They have a lovely new moral on the wall as well. The staff, who are family members, are very nice and courteous and its sometimes hard NOT to tip them big. They are very attentive. The food is GREAT! There are not many good restaurants in Rosamond anymore and we all were sad when Wayside shut its doors but this place as exceed all my expectations. The food is never burnt or undercooked, its always perfect. They give you a good portion as well! Some of the menu items are from Wayside and they current owners added their own items. They have well diverse menu so there is something for everyone. I always catch breakfast or lunch here, dinner is next. I am happy to have them here, serving great food, and bringing awesome vibes. read more

My colleague and I had a job walk at a mine and we decided to drive up early from the South Bay, to stop and eat breakfast first. The food was outstanding!!! The food server was super attentive and very nice. It's just a block away from the 14. The restaurant is very nice and very clean. The food portions are huge. Well worth every penny. I got chicken fried steak w/eggs and hash browns. The county gravy was spot on, and I asked to have my hash browns crispy. The cook did not disappoint.
