The service is what earned this place 5 stars. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the gentleman's name, but he was incredibly attentive and welcoming throughout my visit. It was clear that he's a big part of what makes this place special--almost everyone who walked in seemed to know him by name, and he greeted them like old friends. The atmosphere felt warm, friendly, and genuine. I ordered the Monte Cristo with hash browns, and the food was very good. Combined with the outstanding service, it made for a great dining experience. Gisselle's Cafe is a hidden gem in the HD. My family and I came today and the customer service was fantastic, it made you feel like you were having a meal with family. My Husband ordered the Good Ol Boy meal and the portion was huge ! My mother in law got the French toast and it did not disappoint. I got the menudo and it was excellent, not fatty, not overly filled with homey and the broth was thicker than expected but fantastic ! A quick Yelp search led us to this local spot in the town of Phelan, a town I honestly had never even heard of before! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and seated right away. The restaurant is spotless! Everything was sparkling clean, including the restroom. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive, and the food came out fresh and delicious. Tried out this place for lunch for the 1st time. It was just okay to be honest. I got a burger and it a decent size but it lacked flavor. Just tasted like a burger you could have made at home. I got the curly fries which were really tasty but i wasn't told they were going to be an up charge. My husband ordered the bacon cheeseburger with onion rings, unfortunately we paid an up charge of 1.99 and we got 5 mini onion rings. We didn't think it was worth it so we sent them back & asked for regular fires instead. He never sends back food so i was shocked. Our server was a young kid who was nice but i must say he needs to learn how to talk appropriately in the customer service field. Bro is not a thing to say to my husband. read more

Gave it a shot and we weren't disappointed. We ordered a small bowl of menudo which was more than enough. Comes with 3 corn tortillas or flour if you prefer. Also enjoyed the chilaquiles in green sauce. Nice kick. Egg well cooked and the beans are great. Spanish rice is standard, but good. While visiting family in Phelan we stopped by to try a new local spot that was recommended. As soon as we walked through the front door, it felt very welcoming and pleasant. The staff and owner were very friendly and attentive, making sure we enjoyed our experience. The food came out hot and freshed and every night was delicious. The cafe is very family friendly and you people from different backgrounds and cultures coming together for some delicious food. This is our new go to spot for breakfast when in the high desert. Been meaning to come in here since I moved up to the HD, in March. *Finally* made it! I came in after my visit to LabCorp, right nearby. The atmosphere was nice, the waitress, (Shannon), was great, and the food was good. I had a Greek Omelette, (with one modification), and I loved it! I had to send my home fries back because they weren't, "well done," enough but, that's pretty normal, no matter where I go. (I think the cooks usually think I'm kidding when I say, "burn 'em." I'm not, at least not fully. I want "em *crunchy*.) It was really great that, when I got the I'm back, they *weren't* swimming in oil/grease, which I had expected, since they usually are! The coffee was so good, too! Finally, the *chocolate* ice cream was SOOOOO YUMMY!! Suffice to say, I *will* be back!! Thank you Gisselle's, and Shannon, for a great meal and environment! P.S. The only thing that could have made it a little better, was to have butter over more of the surface of my toast. read more

Just had lunch here today with my partner & our 3 kids after visiting the animal sanctuary. We started with mozzarella sticks, side salad, and biscuit with gravy. We made an unexpected stop in Phelan for a 10am breakfast and found Gisselle's right on the main street. We were greeted immediately by a gracious host and lead to a freshly cleaned table. We found the menu full of fine selections, and our order was taken quickly, with piping hot coffee arriving moments later. The vegetable omelet was nicely prepared, and served with fresh pico. Our chicken fried chicken was cooked just right, and the gravy on fresh biscuits was decadent perfection. At each step of the meal we were treated excellently by the fine staff and found the food and drink delicious. I had dined in this location a few years ago, and noted that the Mexican design motif had been brightly updated with crisp whites and loads of fun art. Looking forward to popping back by from Lancaster in the future, for more good times. read more

It's a little mom and pop hole in the wall. Don't blink or you might miss it! The staff (shanon) was super attentive, even though she was the only one working this morning. I eavesdrop on her taking the order with the table next-door and I noticed some things she said that we're super attentive to that person's dietary needs. We ordered the homemade chili omelette with home potatoes and cornbread. Don't judge the food by my pictures my pictures are sucking right now. The chili was super delicious, the eggs were fluffy. My husband ordered a side of bacon that was cooked to my husband's preference, super crispy. I'm still not sure how I feel about the cornbread. It's super flaky and breaks apart easily. However, it has some good flavor. The home potatoes were cooked and seasoned to perfection. I really love the chili. Definitely coming back to try other items on the menu. read more

Our family spent the day in Wrightwood at the snow and found this place near by. There were 8 of us in our party so we ordered a variety of things. Gisselle's Cafe is a cozy restaurant on the north side of Phelan Road between Sheep Creek Road and Clovis Road. It's small but has plenty of tables. The restaurant staff is friendly and helpful. The menu has a wide variety of options and food is very good. The coffee is also quite good. The wait staff are very helpful in making suggestions and substitutions, they are patient and knowledgeable. read more

I was disappointed by the adult size of their spaghetti . it was like a child portion and they charged extra for the meatballs which were so perfect 1 inch and round and tasteless so they were obviously frozen . If i wanted to eat frozen meatballs I would buy them myself and make them. I make the best sauce and spaghetti meal so they were a huge disappointment to me because their ads said they "make things fresh by hand." I do not believe so from tasting it personally. The food is really very good, but when the owner is there, he is over-exuberant in greeting and serving his customers. I wouldn't complain, but this includes a handshake when you walk in and then when you walk out.
