This is our go to grocery store in the neighborhood. I'm unsure if management has changed in the recent years but I love how culturally diverse the items on the shelves are becoming. I'm also gluten free so seeing the increase of gluten free items makes me excited! I am always excited to see what new items they have in store. This past winter I bought a few pair of pajama sets that were super soft and comfy! I enjoy coming to this location. I wish they carried the Schar sourdough bread, it's the best gluten free bread I've had. read more

We affectionately refer to this as "The Weird Gross Out" because of the decor. I once went there and someone was playing live music in the store. They have a huge selection goods and I'm always finding something new to try. I really recommend making a trip here, the vibe of the store makes shopping oddly fun. read more

I have been a customer of this store for about three years. Today I came in to buy toothpaste and a can of soda. Since I only planned to purchase two small items, I did not take a basket. On my way to the soda section, I was using my phone and put the toothpaste in my pocket for a moment so I could free my hand to grab the soda. About 10 seconds later, an unknown man wearing a store-branded shirt approached me, demanded that I leave the store, and told me to return the toothpaste. He immediately assumed I was stealing and loudly humiliated me in front of other people in the store, including my neighbors and a coworker who was shopping with me. He kept calling me a thief and would not listen while I tried to explain that I have lived in this area for about three years and have been a regular customer, usually shopping here once every week or two. Instead of listening, he shouted at me and forced me out of the store. I only came in to buy water, and when I entered, I remembered that I also needed toothpaste. So thank you to the store manager, or owner, whoever that was, for this "wonderful" experience. I hope this review is helpful to others. read more

We came here to grab an energy drink and were pleasantly surprised with the decor here. We loved seeing the countless pop culture figurines throughout the store! Everywhere you turn, you'll see different statues of Betty Boop, The Simpsons, and so on. I've never seen a Grocery Outlet like this. It's a fun little stop for your everyday essentials. read more

I walked from the bus with my work backpack and laptop. Store said I couldn't shop with backpack but my work has strict policy about not leaving laptop with anyone. Store needs to have more accommodation for transit riders and offer a grocery bag to take laptop with you while shopping. read more

For me, it feels like a friendly neighborhood. Grocery store. I appreciate there's always someone at the checkout lane ready to service you with a friendly smile, the store is clean, well stocked, and so fun to look around at all the decorations. I went in today to buy some wine which was on sale (20% annual sale. There was a sign on the side of the building (see picture). As I completed my purchase I asked "Does that include the 20% off?" I was told, "No that ended yesterday." Although the banner was still clearly hanging outside the store. I asked to speak to the manager, she not only did not honor the mistake on the part of Grocery Outlet, but she said, "Too bad." As she walked away from me. I told her that was not good customer service. She shrugged her shoulders. This was a Pilipino woman who said she was the manager. In my opinion they should have honored the mistake or even shown some empathy, "I'm sorry that happened, we should have taken the song down. Quickly after I left the store the same woman got a ladder and cut the sign down (see pic #2) I wonder does Jeff & Erin McNeil (owner) know the horrible customer service experience at their store? read more

I wasn't always a fan of Grocery Outlets until a friend taught me to think of our shopping trips as treasure hunts! And that made all the difference. This Skyway location is especially great for my husband and I because they have a really good selection of vegetarian and vegan products at awesome discounts. We always stock up on Sweet Earth and Gardein items from the freezer section. They also have excellent novelty ice-cream choices which make decisions SO difficult! We also get the occasional shampoos and snacks, which are similar to what you can find at the Burien and the Madrona locations. read more

Wow what an awful experience. I was in shopping with my two very young kids- a stressful experience to say the least. I had forgot to put a case of water from under my cart onto the belt, which, if you have kids and ever shop with them- know is a possibility when trying to wrangle two small children (1 and 4) The checker Marilyn let me know I forgot and ran after me. I immediately apologized and luckily another checker was able to help me ring out the water. Story should stop there- But oh no, now I'm a certifiable shoplifter after not even making it to the front door. Marilyn proceeds to stop ringing out the current customer, making him wait, and go through every single one of my bags- the bags she just packed, because apparently I'm a shoplifter? And somehow magically transferred invisible groceries into the bags she just filled with the groceries I paid for. So I've got two upset kids, I've spent over $100 in groceries, and she keeps on digging through my bags. I let her know it was an honest mistake and that I paid for the water but she didn't care, and treated me less-than-human, even though I was apologetic and at this point starting to get a bit upset. I always make it a point to treat service workers well, because I know there are nightmare customers, so I guess it really sucks to be treated like a criminal over water that I obviously forgot and immediately paid for. I used to come out of my way to shop here. I'll never come back, I don't want to be treated like a criminal for making an honest mistake. Thanks for the treatment Marilyn! A week ago the manager took it upon himself to verbally harass me about my service dog, I had to show him my dog's cert, which you should never have to do. He then tracked me down in the store, after I inquired about filling a grievance against him, to call me a liar and tell me I'm not disabled. I could use an attorney for the disability discrimination suit I'd like to file against the Skyway Grocery Outlet. If we win that suit I'll happily pay an attorney with the winnings, he had absolutely no right to do or say what he did and said. read more

I came here after my coworkers hyped it up. It was described to me as being the Seattle version of an Aldi. It is not even close to an Aldi. The food selection sucks and isn't particularly cheap in comparison to anywhere else. I walked around with a cart for a while thinking I'd do my grocery shopping here but after about 10 minutes of walking the aisles I realized most of the things I'd want to buy, I couldn't here or they were the same price as target so I put my cart back and left. The employee that'd been standing around doing nothing talking to his coworker chased me into the parking lot to say "the way you did that was suspicious". ??? I told him he could look through my bag if he wanted, I didn't want anything here and I was just gonna go to target instead. Despite the fact that the parking lot is always SKETCHY, this is an absolutely delightful place to scour for discontinued flavors of pop tarts. From the Betty Boop display to the Freddy Krueger monument, you will wander down the aisles in absolute amazement and wonder who the hell owns this place and why did they do this? Even if you don't find any Halloween pop tarts you will not regret the time spent here. I promise you that. read more

The Skyway Grocery Outlet is a rock and roll museum filled with bits of Americana like plastic Elvis and Monroe statues, signed posters, California Raisin dolls, etc. Not only that but it's filled with great and cheap food. There's always delicious fair trade coffee for dirt cheap, free range eggs, canned goods, and good wine. And some weird ass food too. Discontinued Star Wars cereal, odd flavored ice creams like banana-cinnamon, jalapeño cheese naan bread, and other misfits from the food supply chain. Grocery Outlet is the place where food dreams go to die, and the Skyway location is the South End's coolest grocery store. You can't always get all the things you need (especially produce), but you can get most things. read more

Ehh it's ok. The store is nicely organized and has some interesting vintage decor but that's all the pluses. It's way too pricey compared to other locations and especially for this area . It's also very poorly stocked , the meat and poultry department had barely anything . It lacked most of the products found at all other locations . Strangely there we're sections that in this area would never be popular and they were barely touched like vegetarian and vegan and healthy foods substitutes. But the international foods section was altogether absent Maybe the higher ups should re-evaluate the needs of the store for the specific area and stick it better read more

This store is great, the employees are always very nice. I was checking out today and a person came in with a small dog. A male employee asked very nicely to carry the dog in her arms if the dog was going to be in the store. The person immediately said he was harassing her and they were going to complain and the dog was a service dog. All they had to say was the dog was a service dog, as soon as that was said, the employee said Ok and went back to their task. The customer proceeded to say the male employee harassed and insulted her and she was going to complain. She asked the employee checking me out who the manager was. I just wanted to note the customer was not telling the truth and the employees did a great job. read more

I've been in a number of GO Stores in the Seattle Area, and this is the best I've seen. It's bright and clean and the staff is friendly as they are at all the GO stores; As a former retail store owner, I have to say that their staff is some of the best I've seen. There are two things that make this one unique. It (seems) larger, and the store owner clearly believes that Retail is Theater. You are not just going to shop....this is a museum. The store comes alive with Rock N Roll pieces and other memorabilia above you while shopping. It's a fun experience. This is a little out of my way, so I don't get there that often. I have not been to every GO, but it's the best that I've seen. The prices are the same incredibly low prices as elsewhere. I may be skeptical that I'm saving the 60% that I see on my ticket, but it is at least 30% and have no difficulty believing 40%. But my impressions could be wrong. Forget about the exact number....you're saving big. Something happened to me a few visits ago. I was loading my car when I suddenly had that panicked feeling when my wallet was gone. I happened to have a serious amount of cash in there, and I went running back to the store. Two employees saw the look in my face, and said someone had placed it in the back. The person came out with my wallet. I could barely speak. All of my money was there. I'm embarassed to say that I was so flustered, I didn't even think to offer them something. As I drove home, I promised I would email HQ, but never did. won I do have to be careful at GO. I go in with a list for five items and leave with 8 grocery bags full. Gr8 prod/$. read more

Best run GO I've ever been too! It's always super clean, efficient and well stocked. Just recently moved to the area and was used to going to a GO in North Seattle. This location has interesting antique items to look at, everything is well organized and I never feel like everything has already been picked through. Anytime I've gone (I've tried different times to see how busy it might be), I get the same consistent pleasant service and product availability. I hardly have to wait in line to checkout whereas other locations have long lines. read more

I've shopped at this store at least a couple of times a week for at least 6 years, and besides a local Asian grocery and Costco we rarely buy groceries anywhere else. The staff are super nice, it's always clean, and there's a great variety of interesting, healthful, and organic items, all at great prices. The wine and beer selection is routinely good, and so is the candy (lots of nice chocolate!), ice cream, and cheese! Even if now and then we pick something up that's a dud it's no biggie since we save so much on groceries overall. And there's an element of fun in trying new, interesting items. But...if you're going grocery shopping with the mindset of "I need [xyz items] for my 22-layer gluten-free mushroom torte" or "I will only deign to purchase Grey Poupon mustard," you may very well be disappointed. You have to be ok with maybe not getting everything on your list - but also maybe coming home with a new favorite. read more

Just went here last night for the first time. I don't live near there, but was at Seward Park and it was close. Wow! I loved this place, I thought it was like a museum! Not only that, the store was super clean and well-stocked! They even had a certain juice that none of the other Grocery Outlets had any longer. Two weeks ago I was shopping at Skyway Grocery Outlet as I like their wine selection. There was a dispute and the manager Kathy told me I was rude! Calling a customer rude is so out of line. She was rude! Then I end up getting charged twice, so I have return. She has told the manager Abraham about this because I tell him I need a refund. He said he heard all about it and in front of Kathy and all the customers he started calling me names, laughing at me, trying to taunt and shame me. I tried to call the owners at the Renton Store several times and there is something wrong with their phones because the manager there, Angela, says many people have the same problem, including her. I had to use the library phone. She said the owners told her to call me. I said, NO, they need to know what happened from me and the seriousness. The management at Skyway has unacceptable and illegal behavior. So far, I have not heard anything back. I think they do not care or they would have contacted me by now. I will never shop there again and I am telling everyone I know about what happened. It is appalling. read more

If you're a White person, you'll be made to feel very uncomfortable here. Their "bouncer" at the front door (the guy that parks his own pickup sideways near the grass) in particular, is a real jerk. (read her review) I have been going there for the past couple of years and it PAINS me to give them a low review. People - friendly and great. I have never had an issue and most are quite helpful and courteous. Selection - good - but you need to go for certain things. Produce - never. Meats - questionable. Everything else - good deals. They carry some things I have never seen and is great to try things at reasonable prices. Bouncers - rude. The short one was was quite rude to me today to the point where I will never go back. Apparently I struck a nerve with him and he was quite vocal to let me know. After shopping there every other day, people know you. I have seen him countless times. Did not matter. My crime: I parked in 2 spaces with my big truck on the edge of the parking lot next to the field. First time I ever did that, but this was a quick trip. 15 minutes tops. Before I was even half way to the entrance, the short bouncer came bolting out of the store (off his stool) and asked me to re-park. Time: mid-afternoon. The parking lot at the time was average, not full by any means. Handicapped spaces all open. Truck next to me was parked horizontal (yes - horizontal covering two to three slots! I wonder what tongue lashing that driver got?). I was called selfish and it was implied that the police were nearby. (why that was important - I do not know. Maybe I looked threatening to this bouncer dude) If you want to shop here - go for the people and selections. HOWEVER watch how you park and be a good little shopper. If you step out of bounds, does not matter if you are a regular customer or not - the bouncer parking police will let you know on his terms and imply police support. Nobody comes to a grocery store with the intention of causing issues. Nor do they go to be verbally harassed in public. I understand that my money and my truck are not welcome. That was made quite clear and that's ok. I will drive the extra miles to Safeway in downtown Renton. It's too bad. I like supporting small neighborhood businesses. read more

I had never had a bad experienceThe way I did at this store on the 4th. Me and son were harassed, disrespected and in the 10 years I have been going to this store had never had any issue with anyone working there. After this it's not ever going to feel the same going into that store. I tried reporting the situation to the management of the store and found myself in another situation since the manager was related to the person I had the first situation with on the 4th. I asked for contact info for the owner and was told no I asked to leave mine for the owner and again was told no. The way things have been left totally unresolved and its a shame and given this store a bad taste in my mouth. That's sad because I'm pretty sure the owner don't have any idea about how this store is handled. The staff are nice besides a few of them. Smoking at the door of the store by the night door guy. He's always yelling at people in front of the store. He says he not paid enough to put up with the s... he has to. The managers don't handle situations they are made aware of by customers because they are related to them. Of course there's no way to speak to someone to handle things because they refuse to give us information or take ours to pass along to the right person. The thing is I have gone to this store since they first opened the store in 2013. I have not ever had a issue or bad situation there ever. Now I won't go back into this store until it's under new management and the ones causing the problems are held responsible. It was uncalled for and embarrassing. Worst of all is there are good people working there still and I enjoy taking my friends and family into the store to show them all the fun and cool things around the store. I have seen the collection grow over these 10 yrs and I will surely miss see what's yet to come but I am not being treated this way again. read more

This place is great for cheap organic snacks, wine/beer and garden essentials. I'm always surprised by the array of healthy snacks they have available--perfect for hikes. For dairy though, I've learned to keep an eye on expiration dates. Also the decor is entertaining. All vintage movie stars/movie pop ups. Keeps the kiddo entertained. I normally wouldn't do this, because I like this DGO. Since my husband and I bought a house in that area, my mother lives there, and we frequently stop at this one on our way home to do our shopping. It's bigger than many of them and has - usually - has a very friendly staff. Today, however, on Mothers Day no less, I was shopping with my almost 1 year old. I was stopping there on the way to my mothers to make dinner and had forgotten my babies bag. I was hoping they had diapers and formula, which they occasionally do actually. I picked up 2 bottles of wine and put them in the bottom of my stroller then I asked the girl if they had diapers and formula and she said you have to ask up front because they have problems with people stealing. No problem, though that's unfortunate. Then I RANDOMLY ran into my mother, my sister, and my brother all also there to pick up libations for the night. Afterall, she does live around the corner. I told them I needed to go to Safeway for formula and diapers, my brother agreed to go with me, and I put the 2 bottles of wine from under the stroller in my mothers cart and my brother and I proceeded to leave. Just as we were getting in our car a man with glasses and dreds who was sitting in the car next to us with the window open and smoking a cigarette motioned for my brother (who incidentally is a professionally cage fighter and not a smart guy to fuck with). My brother, though, being a nice guy leaned over and the dude blew smoke in his face and told him "I saw what you did, you better get the fuck out and don't come back." Of course, my brother was confused. I was on the other side of the car getting settled with my belt and everything. I didn't take too much note to that he was talking to the guy in the car next to us, we don't usually have drama like this. Then I realized there was an upset and asked if there was a problem. The guy went off on me and told me to "Get the FUCK out before I call the police." Woa woa woa! "What's going on here?" He kept saying he saw what we did, so I asked him what we did and he just said "You know what you did. You want me to call the cops?!" I mean, if he thought we stole something why not just call the police and have it done with? So I suggested may be he do, but my brother was so upset he starting telling me to drive and I really didn't want to see something terrible happen and I wasn't interesting in talking to the cops on my very first mothers day so I suppose I was easily convinced to listen to my brother and leave. I mean, they guy wasn't wearing a uniform, he was just some random guy smoking in his car. So we left. Though as my brother calmed down I became increasingly concerned. My mother lives right around the corner from there and it's the only grocery store nearby. I didn't steal anything and I didn't want there to be bad blood, so I called and spoke to the manager who just sided with the clerk and accused me of being sneaky because we left. I explained to her that I regretted leaving, but we just weren't sure what to do. She told me the clerk saw me put 2 bottles of wine under the stroller and I explained that I put it in the cart before we left. I explained that I understand that looked weird, but I assure you it was paid for and I can get her the receipt. She did not seem impressed by my ability to provide a receipt. At that point we had the diapers and formula from Safeway and I was hauling ass back to the house so I could get the receipt and bottles of wine and bring them back to the store to clear my name so I could continue on with my Mothers Day with my reputation clean but when I got to the house I was informed by my sister that our mother had run back up there for a bottle opener... I hop back in the car and race back up there only to realize she didn't have the receipt... Now the store manager had looked at the video footage. They saw me put the bottles in the stroller than the cart. They explained that they saw that, but they still didn't apologize! They kept reiterating that he was on his break and doing the right thing. WHAT THE FUCK?! He blew smoke in our face and cursed at us and he didn't even call the police! What kind of fucked up protocol is THAT?! At that point my mother was there and catching on to what had happened and as I was very upset she pointed out to the manager that you can't accuse someone of stealing unless you actually see them conceal an item and try to walk out of the store. No one saw me do that because I DIDN'T HAVE THE ITEM. But instead of just admitting they were wrong and apologizing they kept harping on how bad it looked. Yes. May be it DID look bad, but it WASN'T - as you can see! Still, nothing. Sorry, I liked that store, but now that I'm afraid of being verbally assaulted by random men in the parking lot, I don't think I'll be going back... read more

I give this place an A+ for being super clean with a very attentive nice & friendly staff, and also the memorabilia & music ROCKS! :) Not to forget the delicious food and miscellaneous area (bought several garden items), all at discount prices. I love this Grocery Outlet, all the cool collectibles around the store entertain my son and myself. Prices are great here, not much selection on meat, but theres a good amount of veggies and fruits here. I think this location is really friendly too, they have a big security guy at the front and friendly cashiers. I love that its located in the middle of a neighborhood too, perfect to grab ingredients you are missing. They also have a good selection of cheap wines and alcohol too. I love coming here often because they might have something one week and the other not again. Their cheap prices are mainly because the food will expire in a month or sooner or later. I dont know so make sure you check your exp dates. but dont let that scare you! Fruits, produce are definitely good quality compared to winco produce most of the time. I love buying their Jack Links jerky sticks only 39 cents!. In fact, I ran out so I will go by right now and get some! read more

Well, it's summertime 2015 and this place is great! Who wants to battle the mega grocers down the hill in Renton when you can grab-n-go locally from this place?! They always have what I need--even things I never knew I needed. I must buy their Pink Lemonade cake mix once a week!!!! The employees are VERY FRIENDLY. The store is fun and clean.
