I have often had issues at these stores as I feel they're constantly going through checkers at the one by me and when that happens the employees tend to not care so much about their jobs. Now, I am friends with the gluten free bakery and frequent them often. I asked them about this store and they said the new owners were great, friendly, really proud of their store and keep it clean so I tried it. I liked it! I literally drive 15 minutes out of my way to go to THIS store instead of the one 3 minutes from my house. Tonight I am absolutely appalled at the interaction I had. I'd like to note: besides this interaction the store WAS clean as usual, baskets stocked, enough checkers etc. We my son and myself are at the check out. We say hello to "Nick" our checker. We tell him we'd like to put a few things back, no big deal so far. He then asks if we would like bags, we say yes. He asked again, I said yes. He responded with "Ma'am how many would you like because they do cost!?" 1. I believe if you live in California you are aware they cost. I believe he was stating this more as an insult more than anything as I was putting stuff back I couldn't afford being out of work nearly 9 months and a single mom. I looked at him (and there is no rudeness as of yet) and said, "As many as it takes" 2. Who can assess their conveyor belt of groceries and tell you how many bags it's going to take? Is this a school game? A guessing game? Do I win a prize? Or how about just bag them so we can carry them to our car. We obviously don't visibly have bags or boxes of our own. Whether he took this for rudeness or not is really irrelevant since his position is in customer service (mind you i've been in the industry for 20 years, I understand customer service-I also understand there are difficult people, I had yet to be "difficult" at this point where I already felt insulted. He, "Nick" then proceeded to bag our groceries, with about 2-3 items per bag. This is when I began getting really irritated...I asked "are you being facetious???" He replied " No Ma'am, you told me to use how ever many it takes" ...I irritated out of my mind at this point asked to speak to management, he giggled and said " me" That's it. This is when I began recording the situation since no one seems to do anything about bad behavior anymore. I'm not one of those who will blast the video online I feel that's ridiculous but sending it to management is something I WILL do. My son senses my fury and worrily backs away which I am convinced our checker saw as well yet had zero empathy for and continued. I handed him our money. He typed in the amount and got the return amount. He counted it twice, and like a tough guy. When he handed it back I recounted it like I ALWAYS do, not only that it was 100$ bill of course I'm going to verify my change and he snarkily asked me if I'm learning to count. Wow. Yup, fun employee you have there. Again, anyone would be pretty upset at this point so I was for sure snarky back. I said no of course not but it seems you are as you counted my change and needed a computer to tell you the amount. I told him i'd liek the owners information and he told me "google. " I'd first like to digress, he said he was management but I do find that difficult to believe and if he is I have never seen him, ever and I frequent this store. Moving along, "google" was my response. I said i'd like the info written down. He said " you'll have to wait a moment" he CASUALLY walks to the back taking his ever so sweet time with just the number to the store that's on "google" Maybe that's the only number I can connect with someone but an explanation to that would have been fine. I asked for the name of who I need to speak to and he again said "google". I asked him to please write it down in which he again told me id have to wait and walks to the back. In any event as we are leaving I said I'd be sharing the recording with the owners and he politely says "Okay, Have a wonderful night KAREN" This is where I snap....and LUCKILY my 8 year old was with me. I turned around and said "so now we're being racist?!" "no ma'am" is my response me: "Karen is a derogatory word used towards WHITE women. It's blatant racism. (i'm mostly middle eastern btw) We can save the rest for when I get a response... How can you even be okay having employees who act this way? If you "google" no pun intended the word "Karen" it's defined as a PEJORATIVE term which is a slur with negative connotation usually being racial. "Karen" is said to be used for angry, racist, entitled, rich white, middle aged WOMEN, none of them I am other than a woman...again, I've not had a job since the beginning of this pandemic while your "essential" employees not only have the liberty of making a paycheck and feeding their family, they get to throw racial slurs around without anyone doing anything about it because Calling someone "Karen" Is not only racist, it's sexist, and it's ageist. read more

This store has the WORST customer service ever!!! I saw a facial product I wanted to try and it had a price tag for $4.99 so I figured I would give it a try. I brought it up to the check out to purchase it. It rang up for $5.99 I told the cashier it had a tag for $4.99 so then she called for a price check. Beverly came up to do it and she came back with a nasty attitude saying that was $4.99 price tags for other products that were there but no tag for the product I wanted so I don't see why they couldn't honor the price!!! Beverly rudely looked at me and said there wasn't a tag for this item its $5.99 do you want it or not? Wtf...how is it my fault YOU didn't put a price tag for a item? I will NEVER return to this store the employees are very rude and show poor customer service I rather go to the one on Spring and Palo Verde they have way better customer service read more

This place has customer service that sucks and the food is expired and still on the shelves! Go some where else people at least you don't have to worry about getting sick from expired food! Shame on them read more

Friendly staff and we find what we are looking for. Like a lot of stores, you can't always find everything you want but we know what we can get there and enjoy that the lines are never out of control. You can find some really good deals and some gems of products. read more

Very rude customer service. The cashier rang up an item 3 times, charging me $24 for an item costing $8. I live 62 miles away, I call the store and spoke to a very rude "supervisor" who would only cut me off to speak and when I asked for her name, she said it loud and slow in such a rude manner. Obviously people don't know what customer service is, and the person who hired her needs to rethink their judgement as well. read more

The checkers at grocery outlet are so friendly and helpful. I accidentally left my debit card at the register and a checker turned it in to Rahjahnique Clark the owner. I am huge on customer service because I work in the industry and I take pride in showing EVERYONE good treatment. I expect the same when I am the one doing the shopping and unfortunately I didn't receive proper treatment. The lady that checked me out said one thing to me. "Do you need any bags". She didn't greet me she didn't ask me if I found everything I was looking for or anything. While she was checking me out she was sure to let the gentleman behind me know he was free to place his items on the belt. Very rude bad encounter. read more

This store was only open a few months before the COVID quarantine, so I didn't get to visit them before it was time to stock the pantry for lean times. My first visit was in March, so they were pretty picked over -- but what they had was priced just right and wasn't available elsewhere. Fast forward a few months and the store seems fully stocked and up to any challenge. While they certainly don't have everything on my regular shopping list, they do have some surprising items that you just don't find in most stores like this. I say, ignore the word 'bargain' when describing Grocery Outlet and replace it with the word 'WOW!' -- because that's exactly what you'll say when you spot things that are even cheaper than Sam's Club (True story: box of 28 Smart Pop packages - $9.99!). More important than the products and prices? The people! The staff there is incredibly kind, helpful and professional and I never feel like I'm bothering them when I ask for help. Just today, I witnessed something that is a throw-back to good, old-fashioned service: although I had moved to the open register faster, the cashier correctly and kindly asked if I'd mind if she helped a lady who'd been standing in another line first. So many stores ignore things like that, and I know how I feel when I've been waiting, and someone darts to the open lane before the light is even turned on! Anyway, this is a wonderful store and management is doing a excellent job of keeping it stocked, orderly, clean...and fun. I'm glad it's a mere 5 minute walk from my home. Thank you, Grocery Outlet....we're tightening our belts right now, but you're taking away the pinch! Oh! I forgot to give a shout out to the cashier...I think her names is Mena or Mila or something short with an "M" -- but with the mask, the oppressive heat and my aging brain, I can't remember Anyway, the manager knows who I mean, so give that employee a raise! read more

The first couple of time I shopped there I was somewhat disappointed as they had rather limited choices of products and not much compelling to buy. But I shopped there today and the selection was much better. They were just putting out 1 lb strawberries for $2 and a lot of other terrific buys. I was told they started with a standard start inventory which was rather limited, but mow they are up and rolling with much better inventory with lots of terrific buys, more and better produce. read more
