I've lived here for over 30 years and watched many small health-focused grocery stores come and go. Came in today , price was $11.01 Didn't want a handful of change, long story short had to run to my car to get a PENNY, yes a PENNY, I am a regular here , 2 or 3 times a week , Uriel wouldn't let me owe a Penny, did something change here ? I was on my way back to the East Bay from Reno and was thinking about salmon, as I had a disappointing experience at a restaurant recently with salmon. You know what thay say , if you want something done right ... I just happpen to know Nob Hill has salmon on sale right now, so I dropped in and got me some nice piece of salmon for around $8.00 / lb. This is a pretty nice store, not too far off the freeway. Parking and check out was easy and fast. I'm staying in a residence hotel for work for a little while. It has a small kitchen and a place to BBQ food. Oh yummers! that salmon turned out just the way I wanted, not over cooked like most place will do. It was melty in my mouth and wonderful! Nob Hill comes through with the salmon! I say go get some, now! read more

Well kept and well stocked store with friendly staff. I come here for some speciality items that are not available in every grocery store. I like their spread of vegan milk , yoghurt etc., The check out lines are shorter. Usually there are multiple lines open. Vegetables are fresh. Parking is easy to find. read more

There is only one thing I can say bad about this store. Example: You get over charge and you return to the store and they act like it is an act congress. Even if you have the receipt, don't hassel the customer, take care of the customer. Empowering each cashier to do a simple return, refund or exchange would make this store more inviting . The produce here is probably the best in town. The prices are a little on the high side on a lot of groceries, but the store is in a convenient location and the employees are nice and very helpful. One draw back is that you have to check the expiration dates on the products before you put them into your cart. ( I have returned home and had to go back) read more

I feel like this gem of a chain grocery store goes unnoticed. I live on the East side of town so it's not my primary story. However I teach very nearby and my 82 year old mom lives across the street. Those are the reasons I have been inside the store mainly in the past. I will say it is by far the cleanest grocery store I have shopped in and probably the friendliest and most helpful employees. It's just not super close to my home for typical shopping and even before the "Shelter in place" I often do drive up and go at a closer store due to my own chemical issues and going out in public. I would "ding" it for the candles and fragranced products in the aisle near the flower area due to my fragrance sensitivities and highly reactive airways. It's smaller than my regular grocery store so I notice the toxic detergent/cleaning aisle and this candle aisle much more. Not much recovery time in between. I don't' feel fair to take off for that as no store caters to my disability like a ramp for a wheelchair, so.. just mentioning for those with chemical sensitivities. For today though -- I want to highly recommend this store during the COVID-19 pandemic and their eCart and fabulous team. They work SO SO hard! I also do Safeway drive up and go because it's much more convenient. However, it was much easier to schedule with Nob Hill. What I didn't like initially was not being able to add on to my order 30 min later realizing I forgot something. I do notice now that Safeway no longer allows changes in orders due to low inventory etc due to current situation.. so, I'm hoping in the future Nob Hill (Raley's) might look at that as well if they don't normally allow shoppers to do so. I've brought signs with my name and popped the trunk or lip synced my name without having to have contact.. I have to say the employees for eCart shopping are the most conscious group of people I've come across for being safe. This is important since I know there is a high population of seniors that shop here too. I just want to make sure the employees and this store get the recognition they deserve for caring about their customers and their staff!! Very happy to have them in our lovely town. I will say too, their inventory and ability to substitute is much better than any other place in town. I hate to give that away because I need to still get groceries too.. they deserve the praise! read more

Very sorry to be negative. I have shopped at Nob Hill for over 25 years, since they were located over on Pacific Ave., before they were bought out by Raley's Foods. Back then I could walk into the store and be greeted by name! Ah but alas... this store has gone sooo far downhill, I'm likely to start shopping elsewhere. I understand supply chain issues, but they are always out of many of the specialty items that made me shop specifically at this store. When I inquire, or ask to order, I get the same old "No problem, happy to help", but nothing ever happens or changes or shows up. Now I feel like the employees see me coming and head the other way. They show no interest in customer service. All of the people that made Nob Hill special are retired and the new employees don't seem to care about anything. So very disappointing. They have become just another grocery store. OK, on a positive note. Their produce is still one notch above other stores, and some of their prices actually beat out the competition. If I only didn't have to go to two separate grocery stores to get the specific things I'm looking for. read more

I seriously love Nob Hill. It's the closest thing I've found to Publix since I left the East Coast. I drive past two Safeways and a TJ to come here. Their Raley's brand items are great quality and usually cheaper than competitor items. I especially love their California EVOO and that they carry a great selection of organic chicken. Their customer service is always on point and they actually carry brands/items that I want. Their rewards program is great too, once you figure it out. My only suggestion would be that this place is in drastic need of a facelift (old cracked floors, etc.). This seems to be well overdue for the recent Livermore yuppie influx. read more

I walked over from Bella Roma Pizzeria, wanting to buy some bottled drinks. I got to the registers and the two open registers were busy. The man in front of me was buying Jell-o packages where not all (selected varieties) were part of the deal. The cashier called for a manager. The other register was backed up also, and there apparently are no self-checkout lines. I took my bottled drinks back, and left the store. It may be a good-looking, well-organized store but if you have to wait too long, forget it. read more

So Impressed! I live closer to another grocery but their curbside pickup is terrible. I decided to try Nob Hill for pickup. It was awesome! The site is easy to use for ordering, the order was ready on time, and the employee that brought my order to the car was very kind and professional. And there were only a few substitutions but what they swapped in was perfect. The produce was perfect. And they bagged everything so well (nothing damaged, cold things together, etc). I drive past a few grocery stores to go to this one. They have the nicest employees here. The food is always quality, the store is very clean, and no long lines to check out. I love the grocery pick up as well. The fresh produce chosen for me is same quality that I would choose for myself. This is the most poorly managed grocery store I've EVER been too. Unfortunately my job is a block from this location and I go back for convenience. Closest to my house so we go here by default. Lately though, it's just bad. Found a moth in my lettuce. Items that are advertised as on sale are not. Even if it has the sale price on the shelf below the item, doesn't mean that's how it will ring up. And I just bought a pieced together box of beer. Yes we like beer, its football season! Am I the only one who finds the employees here to be a bit strange? There's one girl at the checkout that actually stood there and watched me bag my own food while she did nothing. I'm down for bagging my own food - but when they've got nothing else to do and I should be swiping my card, it's a bit ridiculous. Between my many attempts to get a good deli sandwich, to the over-talkative guy in the produce section I've had enough bad experiences to finally throw in the towel. Nob Hill is my grocer of choice in Livermore. Many of the previous reviews mention that the service is lacking. I think this was mostly one checker who I haven't seen for months...I can only assume they corrected the problem based on Yelper feedback...Success! Anyway, every other employee I have interacted with is phenomenal. Seriously, with grocery margins so small, customer service is what sets one store apart from the other, and in my experience, Nob Hill does a great job. A few customer service anecdotes: 1. The checkers (just about all of them) are friendly, always ask how you're doing, and it actually seems genuine. I understand that each of them has probably greeted 100's of customers prior to my visit, but seriously, they actually seem glad to see me. 2. Some Yelpers have suggested that they greet you with judging eyes and suspicion. I have never experienced this myself or noticed it from a distance. Quite honestly, theft is a major problem for supermarkets, so I really can't blame them if they are particularly cautious if people are acting suspicious. 3. The meat department is the best in town. Specifically the beef. It is on par (or nearly) with Kelly's Meats, and they often have excellent sale prices. All of their beef is USDA choice or better. They actually get their meat graded rather than "brand" it like Safeway and Lucky's. The butcher will custom cut you whatever you like. When Porterhouse is on sale, I stock up on 2 inch-thick, choice, big ass, awesome steaks! 4. My 2-year-old daughter loves stickers. Every time we're checking out, the cashier will give her a sticker or two. It is so routine that she says, "sticker please" even as we're approaching the checkout line. And not that my little girl cares about the quality of the stickers, but they're actually decent stickers. 5. We don't partake in this activity yet, but at the bakery, I have them on several occasions seen them giving youngsters a free cookie. This was a thrill I remember as a child and I look forward to the day my daughter gets excited about going to the market to get a free cookie and a sticker. In closing, the customer service details at Nob Hill are not lost on me and my family. The prices may be slightly higher than other grocery options, but, you get what you pay for. read more

And the one time I went out of my way for a special (1 1/2 lbs cooked BBQ tri tip for 5.99) they were out at 6pm. 6pm!! On a special that was a dinner item. This Nob Hill is about the same size as the one in San Ramon. The plaza that this Nob Hill is located is actually pretty cool. So much variety at this plaza. Went here on a Sunday after a hike. Wasn't busy at all. The deli was pretty busy so it took a little long to get help but they acknowledged that we were there & told us they would be right with us. They have hot & cold sandwiches. I opted for the Grilled Cheese Panini Sandwich which was BOMB. Had big pieces of mozzarella cheese which is sooo yummers! Oh I noticed while wandering the bakery section that all the labels were all located under the containers which had me lift each container to see what the contents were. They had samples everywhere! Almost as good as Whole Foods! They have many specialty items here at a reasonable price. If I can't find what I want at Trader Joe's, 95% of the time I can find it here. Which is saying a lot because I tend to prepare specialty dishes with unusual ingredients. Everyone I've dealt with is friendly and helpful; they will walk you over to the spot where the ingredient you are looking for resides. Best of all, the butchers will sharpen your knives for FREE! This review (and the 2 stars) are a reflection of my experience TODAY. If you asked me to rate this Nob Hill grocery store I would give it 4 stars. I agree with another comment made that this store's young new hires are NOT like the experienced that have been at this store and their old location in Livermore. All I got today was "enter your number". No hello no greeting whatsoever. I actually had my rewards card in my hand ready to swipe it. On several occasions I have had the "new hires" tell me to swipe my card. Duh, I have it in my hand and I know what to do with it! Dave or Tracy NEVER have to remind me what to do! Bottom line managers give those "new hires" some training and teach them not to insult a long time customer who's hobby is cooking (and therefore spends a lot of money in the store). read more

Came in today to buy some groceries and gave the cashier a $5 bill. The cashier took the bill and ripped it as she put it up to light to make sure it is not counterfeit. She returns the $5 bill to me and says, "sorry I cannot take the bill now that it's ripped, do you have another one?" read more

Loving my Nob Hill. Initially it was convenient, but then it was just easier with the better service and shorter lines...but now...now they have great special products. Their gourmet burgers are great...I have a bunch in the freezer and can cook them up and have great meals on a moments notice. The newest development is gourmet steak stuff. I got some great flank steak with cheese and herbs the other night. Fresh (watched a guy prep it), inexpensive and tasty! Plus John in the meat department really is a great guy. Stood there and took flak from a grouch about not having his crabs cracked 3 days prior (umm...food poisoning??) and still had a smile! Great customer service too...its hard to get the baggers to NOT take the groceries to your car. read more

Nob Hill is a great store, with one exception...The wine selection could be a lot better. This is where Safeway and PW beat them out. However, the service at Nob Hill is superb! I love that I can go to the meat department and there is always someone there who is knowledgeable and wiling to answer all of my mundane questions! One example.. I like to buy boneless chicken breast fillets (skin-on) which is very difficult to find and until recently Nob Hill had carried this cut. When they stopped, Miguel said that he would de-bone the breasts for me and it would only take a few minutes. He was happy to do it! Unlike Safeway..Both locations have told me no in the past. I'm guessing because they probably didn't know how to do it. Anyway, this is the level of service you can expect from Nob Hill. read more
