Mother's Day at Palmetto Osteria was absolutely beautiful. My husband managed to get us a 5:30 reservation. It was either that or 8 because they were fully booked for the holiday. After dining there I completely understand why. The view overlooking the lake was stunning, the food was divine and the service felt relaxed, easy, and welcoming. Our server felt less like staff and more like an extension of our family. We all enjoyed our food and the wine we paired with it. Dessert was great as well. Mother's Day was a hit. Was so happy to be seated by the window. Everything we tried was excellent. The bruschetta (gone before i had thing to take a photo) was one of the best I've had - crispy toasted bread, fresh burrata and herbs; the tomatoes were memorable on their own. All the pastas were reasonably priced in the $20-30 range for the portion and quality. I could only finish half my rigatoni and took the rest home. Delicious Caesar salad although the form of it is a little odd. Uncut leaves of Romaine with dressing and croutons, so you have to cut it. Also be warned, it's easily enough for 4 people. I'd order it again as it was quite tasty. Bread plate very good and a nice size. Rigatoni bolognese absolutely to die for. It was a huge serving so I forced myself to eat only half of it so I wouldn't get overly full and would have the rest for lunch the next day. Service very attentive. They kept our water glasses full, brought clean forks after the salad course and generally made sure we were taken care of. Will definitely return. read more

Starting with drinks - My Negroni was perfectly balanced and hubby Marg was too. Next up, we split the Caesar salad. Each leaf was brushed with dressing, not too little not too much. Topped with more Parmesan! Finally, our entrees did not disappoint. The pasta is made in-house. The Meat sauce with the rigatoni was lightly seasoned in true Italian form. Simple tomato and Basil. The wine list offered an excellent choice of wines of varying quality and price. The wine markup seem most reasonable. The proper wine glasses were used. Some would say the atmosphere is energetic however I found it noisy, it had a very full and active bar that could be heard throughout the restaurant. More care to sound baffling would improve the experience. Overall a nice diversion from the many great restaurants we have in Galveston, albeit a bit far for EastEnders to travel. My husband and I decided on a date night and this place looked great to try out. I made reservations and we were a little late, and the table wasn't ready when we arrived. So we had to wait for them to set the table. Host didn't greet us either when we walked in. Tried the Palmetto margarita which was very refreshing after a hot Texas summer day. However, would definitely recommend a bottle of wine next time. Great prices and a great selection. We tried the flatbread to start with. My husband had the frutti di mare which he said was so good! Lots of flavor and exactly what he was expecting. I tried the chicken piccata and the white wine sauce was so good! I was regretting not getting a bottle of wine to pair this with. It also comes with buttered noodles on the side which were so good. We left so full. Next time will make a reservation earlier because it's the perfect spot to watch the sunset. read more

We came for our wedding anniversary and this was a great choice. Great food, friendly service and a nice view. Husband has the warm olive appetizer. I'm not an olive fan, generally, but I ate at least three of them! Restaurant is on the other side of the island from where we stayed, but it was worth the drive. We had crab stuffed shrimp scampi, truffle linguini Alfredo and mussels all three were so delicious. (Suggestion: serve the shrimp with a steak knife, not a table knife). The spaghetti & meatball was good but needed some more flavor. Downsides were definitely the service. We waited over 15 mins for a server after being seated even though it was not busy. One of the bus girls finally said something to get us served after noticing we didn't have even water at our table. The other big downfall was the lack of a changing table in the restroom. We went to dinner at Palmetto Osteria again last night, and honestly I think they are THE top restaurant in Galveston now. The ambiance is beautiful (especially the room to the right when you walk in), the food is spectacular and the service is impeccable! Eric is the manager and he gives 150% at his job. Damon was our server last night and we never were without anything. He remembered our names, our drinks, and he just made a regular night feel special. We have been there 3 times now and we have tried the Chicken Piccata which was the best I've ever had, and we've had their filet.
