I've called Ground Pest Contol twice in the past year. The first time was to deal with a wasp nest in our backyard. I was able to get an appointment to come without much delay. I liked that Donald explained how he was going to deal with the nest without using pesticides or chemicals. Problem solved at a fair price. The second time was to deal with an ant invasion in an upstairs bathroom. I had tried the boric acid mixed with sugar home remedy, but it didn't seem to work as effectively as usual. He said that was the right approach but it's hard to get the mix right, and he explained what he would do. I had a concern about toxicity to cats (I kept the bathroom door closed when I was trying the boric acid), and he understood the concern and explained that the approach was relatively pet-safe. The treatment involved baits and spray in the affected bathroom, plus spraying around the perimeter of the house. He found the apparent area of entry, which was on the opposite side of the house, and explained where ants are likely to congregate. I like it when experts do this -- explain the reasoning behind their actions. After a week, we still had a few ants. He came back out, did another shot of treatment (and he had said sometimes it takes more than one treatment) as part of the same invoice. Donald is very responsive to calls or texts, and as a true professional, he cares about getting the job done, even if it takes multiple visits. read more

Donnie was quick to respond to an estimate request and was more affordable than two other quotes that I received. I chose to go with his company because he was knowledgeable about the different types of ants and how to handle (we live in the woods) vs just a general spray no matter what the ant type was. He arrived when he said he would and took the time to identify the types of ants we had (the company we hired last year just went to spraying and I had to ask what type of ant it was and they seemed a little vague like they weren't totally sure). Donnie immediately identified this year's ants as the "velvety tree ant". He noticed that a live tree nearby had ant damage and said he would spray that as well. I called Ground Pest Control because I had a yellowjacket nest in a difficult location and didn't know how to handle it. The nest was inside my house siding, with the access point being behind an electrical box, through the cabling. Donald came out right away. He was super friendly and professional. Assessed the situation and explained how he was going to deal with the nest. Including that the product used was safe for my family and pets. Even went the extra mile going the long, awkward way around the back of the property for safety to prevent any angry yellowjackets from following him inside the house after treatment. First time I've had to actually call an exterminator for rodents. I thought I'd fix things with traps from the store, but Ground helped me fix root problems to keep more from showing up. I can't say enough nice things about Ground Pest Control. We are selling our second home in Vancouver, WA, and needed a pest inspection in a hurry. After dealing with the flaky owner of another local company, I got on Yelp and requested quotes for pest control. Ground Pest Control contacted me within the hour. He made an appointment for the next day, was early getting here, and did an inspection of our home, and filled in a small hole where mice might get in at the garage door. He was super nice, personable, thorough, and cost much less than the first guy I'd contacted. I feel so great that I could get it done so quickly, especially after the other guy who didn't keep the original appointment and wouldn't respond to texts.
