I had an amazing experience with Pete's Pest Control just now. I found a swarm of hundreds of flying termites on a front yard railroad tie this afternoon. Based on yelp reviews I called them. After confirming the type of termite (dampwood) Pete said not to do anything because they only live in that sort of soggy wood and they'd be gone in an hour. He was right! He then reassured me that they'd leave the house alone. I'd have spent a LOT of money if he'd told me I needed to get rid of them, so I'm extremely grateful for his honest advice. Over the summer, we discovered subterranean termites under our bathroom flooring and requested quotes from multiple companies. We chose Pete because we sensed a high level of integrity and trustworthiness when we speaking with him. He was very knowledgeable about termites and explained the extermination process in great detail. He recommended that for the most effectiveness, the best time of year to address our infestation was in the early spring. Pete was very responsive in getting back to us whenever we reached out. His crew was at the job site on time and completed the work on schedule. He did a great job of explaining what they were doing and making sure it was done properly. Had a rat in our laundry room, likely because I had inadvertently left a door to the outside open for a few hours two days prior. Heard and then saw the rat at 4AM Saturday and immediately searched for companies that advertised "open 24/7" or "emergency service available". While a few called me back, no one could come that day and most were scheduled out for days. Ronda from Pete's called me back that same morning and after discussing my situation she indicated that Pete could stop by later that AM. We had a yellowjacket infestation in our front of our home. Being a homeowner, it's natural to try to do-it-yourself. I went to our local Lowes/Home Depot and purchased sprays/foam designed to exterminate yellowjackets. On the first night (research says to do it at night since they are usually less active), I propped my ladder up to where the nest was at an elevated position and used entire foam spray into the small slot where laid the nest. The next morning, I wake up to see my attempt was unsuccessful. After going back to purchase more (different brands) of sprays/foams, I spend the next two following nights trying again. Going through about $50 of killer sprays/foams from three different brads, I decided to hang up the white flag and call Pete's Pest Control. They were able to schedule me a visit within a week. They arrived on time, assessed the situation, and literally completed the work within ten minutes time. To much my satisfaction, the yellowjacket have never returned since. Pete's is the best, hands down. Have a bug issue and I always get three bids, even though I suspected I'd end up with Pete's. Two other companies completely missed an area, visible to the naked eye. Dave came out at first and caught that second area the others missed. Pete came out to REALLY go over the areas and see everything so he could give me the bid. They also recognized me as prior customer, took great care to NOT freak me out and were real about timeline during which I should treat issue. Once again, I'll be using Pete's! They stopped coming to service us and never called to explain. Their service quality diminished over the years as the company grew. Since they stopped coming I can no longer endorse them. We were customers since 2008 and they stopped coming a couple of years ago. Clearly I would not have given a glowing review in 2009 if we weren't customers. The account is under my husband's name so that is why Pete cannot find the account under Cindy I. It was maybe 2 years ago they just stopped coming and I realized I still had this glowing review posted that wasn't accurate. (So long time customers of 7 years) Once Pete stopped doing the service himself it went downhill. We asked that they inform us before they came so we could unlock the gates and they did not so couldn't service the full property. We had an ant infestation between visits and they seemed put out even though that was part of their coverage. We always paid on time but it seems they just didn't want to continue with us. read more

Contacted Pete regarding an issue in our garage which we thought could be a potential serious issue with insects. After his inspection he concluded our problem had been caused by a previous issue with water infiltration that when solved caused the pests to swarm and leave. First off, let me be clear -- I have not actually hired Pete's Pest Control. Even so, if I ever WERE to hire a pest control company Pete's would be *THE* company I would go with. Why? Over the years of living in my home, I've had numerous door-to-door folks come by trying to sell me on their pest control services. They make a compelling argument -- your neighbors are getting pest control done, and the insects therefore will not be going into the deathtrap, but instead look for a new home... my home apparently, as it's not protected. And, I've always politely declined, year after year... Until this summer. My wife stated her thought about possibly getting pest control this year... Apparently the door-to-door folks must have a bug in our house as one showed up shortly after that conversation. I spoke with the person for a while but ultimately stated my wife would be making the decision and to have them come back when she was home. And come back they did. They really pushed hard for the sale, but ultimately we declined. It was at this point I decided to look-up reviews for pest control companies... said company had no reviews in PDX, but in other parts of the nation it was BAD! I happened upon Pete's however... 5*... I couldn't believe it. Surely the reviews must have been shills. But, I decided to email Pete's. I got a quick response back with some basic info. No high-pressure tactics, etc. We decided to pass on the whole pest thing... Then about 2-months later I saw some weird bugs on my property -- one on the garage door, and another on the patio. I took a pic and e-mailed it to Pete's. They replied back stating it was a common earwig and nothing to worry about. They then wrote back a short while later asking some more questions and ultimately guided me to purchase some insect spray at Fred Meyer and resolve the situation myself. I never paid Pete's a DIME, they never tried talking me into their services, and were in-fact directing me to take care of what they said is a non-issue by myself -- NO money going to them. (Well, unless they somehow have ownership in Fred Meyer or Ortho.) Their demonstration of putting even non-customers first is far and above what the door-to-door folks do with their high pressure tactics... As such, I have to give Pete's a 5* rating. read more

As of now 5 stars. Pete's Pest Control was able to book me the next day from when I made the call. I called for Ant treatment in Beaverton in my new home. The exterminator was very knowledgeable and friendly. He sprayed down the home and exterior and within the first day, we saw less and less ants. It's been about two weeks and we haven't seen any ants inside the home. They do carry a 90 day warranty as that's how long the chemical is supposed to last. Would recommend for Ant treatment. Update 5/2018 - treatment has lasted for a long time. I haven't seen ants for up to 2.5-3 years. I recently saw a few ants pop up (not like the original mobs), but placed some Terro liquid gel's around the kitchen and haven't seen some since. read more

I called Pete's to see if they provide service in Seaside, OR and Rhonda answered the phone. So polite and helpful! She said it was easiest to fill out an online form and she was right. It was super easy and Pete called me himself within a half hour. Since he was already in Seaside, he waived the assessment fee and gave my husband great advice on how to get rid of our pests ourselves. He was open and honest and you could tell wasn't trying to take our money, just give us good customer service and genuinely loves his job, helping people. Portland has a major sugar ants problem. If you have pets or kids you are screwed no matter how clean you keep your house -- the ants will get you. They came in through the electrical outlet and made a nest in my carbon monoxide detector. This is the only way to get rid of your ants. It is well worth the money. We get little ants every year & every year, after a few weeks, they're gone. Not this year! We've never had ants like this before. no matter what we did, they came back & came back with force! Extremely responsive, knowledgeable, prompt, friendly, and......honest!!! That is how I would describe Pete's Pest Control out of Portland. I have a cabin with signs of either carpenter ants or termites out on the edges of his service area, so I contacted him about an inspection. Pete contacted me very quickly and answered all of my text messages and photos promptly. We then scheduled an appointment for an inspection. He confirmed date and time with me a couple days prior to the appointment, and showed up on time (again, my location is probably 50 miles from his office out in the forest) Pete performed a very thorough inspection and confirmed that I did indeed have signs of carpenter ants. (that's the bad news). After checking all around the house, he came back with a verdict....Yes, I had carpenter ants, and his recommendation. - "You don't need to treat it yet. Check back in a few months if you're still concerned" (that's the good news!) Oh, and by the way, the inspection is FREE!!!! (OK, this was the BEST news!!! I highly recommend Pete's Pest Control out of Seaside Oregon. We had mice and had tried several things (traps, etc) to get rid of them. And although we did catch 4, we were not convinced that we had them all. We needed to be sure since we have young grandchildren crawling on the floors. So we contacted Pete to assess our situation and take action if needed. Pete replied promptly and accommodated our short window of availability. He did a very thorough inspection of our house - inside and outside; providing lots of extremely helpful information about mice and how best to deal with them. In the end, he said he was confident that we no longer had any mice in the house but just to be sure he baited and strategically placed 6 highly sensitive traps so we would know for sure. He was right - we caught no more mice and have seen no more evidence of mice in the house - PHEW! Pete would not accept any money for his time or for the 6 traps - just asked that we remember him if we need pest control services in the future. WOW- we were blown away! Thank-you so much Pete! He arrived right on schedule and was very friendly and informative about the ants as well as the products and process he was implementing to rid me of the pesky crawlers. We had the unfortunate experience of finding bedbugs in our house. When I called to try and get an appointment ASAP, Ronda could sense our distress and went out of her way to find a way for Pete to come over that day. Pete was prompt and so great to work with.
