    Freddo cappuccino

Great addition to the neighborhood. The barista was very patient with me explaining the different options on the menu. I really liked my freddo cappuccino with light sweetness. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu.

Came in for one thing and one thing only... the bananas foster freddo cappuccino. And wowza it was amazing. I drank it in 5 mins flat. I would come back for this, to try their hand pies and for the super kind service and clean, inviting atmosphere. The self service bar with the straws and sugars was one of the best I've seen. The intricacies of the drink made it worth the almost $9 price tag. This freddo cappuccino comes in a 20 oz size and iced only. The sweetest lady ringed me up and quick and efficient drink making. I will be back! If you're ever by a Ground Up, check them out. I'd never heard of this coffee shop before so spread the word because it's worth a visit.

Ground Up is a Chicago coffee chain with a great vibe. It's the second I've been too and have been consistently ordering their seasonal offerings which have so far consistently hit. I tried the Nutmeg Noel Latte. I will say the seasonal coffee is bit pricey, but the standard is definitely fair. The loop location is pretty large with plenty of seating, so definitely grab a drink and stay for a while.

I was on a long solo Amtrak trip and stayed a night in Chicago at the Central Loop Hotel at the beginning and end of my trip(best price I could find in the downtown area, small room but nice and clean)I was so glad to find a nice looking coffee shop within a 2min walk from the door of my hotel. Both times I was greeted warmly and got good service/advice on what to order by the cashier. Both times I got the iced Turtle, Turtle Mocha 1/2 sweet. It was so delicious I went to get a 2nd one less than 2 hours after I landed back in Chicago! This shop is worth a visit for sure. They also have a few fresh prepackaged sandwiches and salads as well as a small selection of delicious looking baked goods and canned drinks. There was plenty of seating in the clean and nice looking dining area as well. I only tried the one coffee 2x but in the future when I'm back in Chicago I might go ahead and get myself a little bit of everything if you end up in this area needing an energy boost, these nice folks will take care of you.

The tulips aren't up yet, but this Cortado is! Not only cute, but delicious. When you want a coffee ... but just a little one.

If you're looking for the best coffee in Chicago, this is it. Ground Up Coffee + Bites Downtown never disappoints. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is friendly, and their breakfast sandwich is unreal. Easily the best breakfast sandwich in Chicago. My new go-to spot every morning!

Both were delish! The glazed donut was fluffy, sweet and my fave. My husband loved his old fashioned donut! He said it was crunchy yet moist. We also both got the Hot N' Spicy chicken sandwich which was so good!! Flavorful and spicy, with toppings that helped add some freshness to it. Pair it with a soft brioche bun, and this sandwich was heavenly! Def check this spot out for breakfast! One of the best places we tried while in Chicago!

Pulled up just before 6:30 AM on a weekday and there were just a few folks ahead of us in line, but service is quick. Cake donuts were actually pretty solid here; the Blueberry Cake Donut was the best item, super soft and moist with a good amount of berries throughout. The Pistachio Cake Donut for some reason was texturally firmer and drier than the other. Unfortunately, the fried donuts were all misses. The dough was just really dense and none of the toppings really hit. The Glazed Donut just made me sad that the dough was bad and the bacon on the Maple Bacon Donut wasn't crispy, so you got a cold, chewy, greasy bite that wasn't super pleasant. The chopped dough pieces in the Apple Fritter were also oddly firm instead of soft. For a place with rave reviews, I was pretty bummed by the donuts, but maybe the fried chicken sandwich is where it's at.

The buttermilk one particularly gave county fair funnel cake vibes and the lemon poppyseed one reminded me a lot of a lemon bar lol verrry lemon-y (in an indulgent-good way). Recommended some items to us and after hearing we were on a donut tour, even threw in a freebie. Only outdoor seating available, but the weather was perfectly lovely. Everything led up to (finally) some lovely, super soft fluffy fried donuts. Glazed Donut and Strawberry Glazed Donut were exactly the pillowy, yeasted texture I was looking for and the latter even had a little extra tartness from the strawberries, which you could tell was made from real fruit! The Lemon Poppyseed Cake Donut ended up being a banger as well; great balance between sweet and sour, not dry at all, and cross between crumbly and a melt in your mouth texture. The Apple Fritter was the only miss. Had an odd aftertaste that almost reminded me of curry powder and was texturally super hard, like bits of cardboard.

It's pretty small inside, with maybe no more than 10 tables. When I came there was a large party taking up majority of the dining room, leaving about 4 tables left. We didn't have reservations, but I believe they take them. Luckily we were seated right away without any issues. They are known for their Asian cuisine. Think Taiwanese fried chicken sandwiches, Japanese mochi donuts, ube, vietnamese coffee, etc. What I tried: - Mochi donuts (1 strawberry, 1 chocolate) ; so fresh! 10/10 - Strawberry/peach lemonade boba; Extremely sweet, but good! Staff was super kind from start to finish. The only downside (which is big) - it is pretty dirty around the restaurant. With all the white, you can unfortunately spot things quicker. A deep clean would do the trick!

However, it wasn't the cleanest but we were still willing to give it a try. When we arrived, the hostess/waitress asked if we had a reservation and I told her no but there were literally only 2 tables being occupied at the time, so she had us wait until she cleared another table. The menu gave a hibachi vibe, they had teriyaki bowls, unwich sushi rolls, soup, and specialty drinks but no fountain or canned drinks. I wanted the salmon and everyone else was getting chicken but that didn't happen because they were out of salmon. Really wasn't feeling the other options, so we canceled our order and left. I would definitely give the place another try but maybe earlier in the day and a different location.
