TLDR: ------- 1. Big thanks to the EagleLift team for their excellent foundation repair work on my rental. 2. The team is resilient and knows how to make things happen quickly in the face of on-the-job challenges - they provide solutions to maintain our budget. 3. Kudos to Alex, Jim, Codero, Murano, Cliff, Lisa, and the team for their work and support - I was utterly virtual (physically remote) throughout the process. 4. Final Permit approved - all completed right in time for Thanksgiving. BACKGROUND: --------------------- I am a full-time high-tech professional passionate about real estate rental. Unfortunately, one of the rentals has foundation sinking issues around the perimeters(a pre-existing condition for many years). Nevertheless, the home needs to be level as it is very noticeable in various places--more than that, the home integrity was our utmost concern as things can be more damaging in the upcoming years. With the above problem, I decided to look for a permanent fix. So, like all things with contracting, I started my journey interviewing a few highly-rated companies around NorCal, six to be exact. The process takes about one and a half months, and I decided to sign the contract with EagleLift. I chose Eaglelift because I see the integrity and pride of the company's work through Jim. The traits that impressed me are: 1. Detail the problems w/o intimidation tactics. 2. Provide sectional fix solution for budgeting (guide with priority for areas needing fixing). 3. And because the house is a rental, Jim also suggested leaving it as is. (I decided to fix it to mitigate any future issues) Given that I don't know anything about foundation repair, I followed my old-school intuition on what I defined above, and it proved to be one of the best decisions I made. It took a few months of legwork after the contract signing for the project to start. But when it did, it was swift. Breaking ground to completion is about two weeks. My only job was to make payments as agreed on in the contract, and most of the communication was between Alex, the foreman, our tenants, and 3rd party inspection. During this time, there were two issues that I was made aware of: 1. Roots obstacle and brick facade obstacle. 2. The piers' depth to hit bedrock is beyond the original quote for some places. Jim called me about the above situation, and I told him I had exhausted my budget for this project. Within an hour or so, Jim spoke with Cliff and came back with a workaround to remove a few of the least impactful piers to keep the project within budget and found a workaround for the facade. I love that they are honest about what is possible and willing to work with me to keep things moving forward. As mentioned earlier, I was missing in action throughout the work since I was traveling on business. I was so happy that Alex and his crews made things so smooth that I barely needed to check-in. Alex constantly updated me with many pictures and took time to draw a 2D diagram of the house with the before and after effects. Alex and his crew brought everything back to level or at least within tolerance. The finishing touch was excellent. I had a total of 6 vendors (all 4-star or higher rated on yelp) review our foundation and of those 6 I thought Jim was the best because he most clearly explained the extent of our issues and what needed to be done and more importantly, what did NOT need to be done, or in what timeframes we should be thinking, or in what cases (if we observe additional issues) what that might indicate. We also discussed at length possible solutions to my problem. I was concerned with cracks in my ceilings and wanted to be sure they weren't structural in nature. Dave Vasquez came out in a very timely manner and inspected my ceilings. During a home inspection to sell my house, the property inspector found a rather large crack in the slab and recommended I get a review by a foundation expert. I hired EagleLIFT who assigned Jim Rivera to perform the evaluation. I was a bit concerned that this would be a high price tag item to repair. But Jim was extremely thorough in his evaluation and was very knowledgeable about the area I live in, the problem with the soil in the neighborhood and what could be done to repair the problem. Really great experience overall! The project was to install piers to lift up a sinking corner of the house. My wife and I were recently remodeling our floors and discovered a cracking concrete slab foundation. Needless to say we were very upset and nervous about the long term viability of our home. We were referred to EagleLift by our floor contractor. EagleLift was quick to dispatch Bruce Knox, a project manager for the company. Bruce conducted a thorough analysis of our home's foundation and local soil conditions. Bruce enlisted the expertise of a local engineering firm. The firm created an engineering plan and fix for our home's structural problems. Once the job was permitted, EagleLift dispatched foreman John Silva and one of the most professional contractor crews I've ever worked with. They were prompt. John, called the day of their arrival to let me know he and his team were on their way. When John said his team would arrive at 8am during the 4 days they were on-site, they arrived at 8am. They were professional. John, was thorough and detailed in the management of his crew. Further, if I had a question or comment about work being done, he was patient about responding to my questions or concerns. At the conclusion of their work they cleaned up my home and left it as they found it. Going through the experience of foundation settlement in one's home is stressful. There are many unknowns and the costs of repairs are seldom cheap. I am a Civil Engineer with a client that owns a commercial building that required soil densification and floor slab crack repair due to soil subsidence. After researching options that were compatible with our specific situation, and companies that provided the work we required, I recommended EagleLift to my client. This project was over three years in the making due to litigation involving an adjacent property owner. During this time EagleLift stayed in contact with me, taking the time to answer my questions, realizing our project might not go forward in the near term, or that we could change contractors. We booked an appointment with EagleLift and explained that we needed foundation repair on our wrap around porch because the recent rains had washed away the support. They booked our appointment for several weeks in advance but then called us weeks later to wiggle out of the appointment. They said that they didn't do wood or concrete repairs and advised that we use a concrete contractor or general contractor. How could EagleLift not do wood or concrete repairs if they are a foundation repair company? I see other reviews citing the structural repairs they made. What were these structural repairs if not for wood and concrete? After reading the reviews, I realized that the likely reason they canceled our appointment was because they were concerned that our job was not big enough to be worth their time and travel. Maybe at the time of the initial booking they felt it was worth investigating and estimating but more jobs rolled in as the weeks passed and they felt that they could now safely cancel us. In any case, we felt that they were not straightforward with us on why they canceled us and if they did not want to book us, they should not have initially agreed to it. This now leaves us in a lurch and we need to make appt with someone else which will likely take several more weeks of waiting. My advice is to call someone else! Who knows if they will book you and then flake! read more

If something could go wrong it did!! Why the 5 stars? Quick answer is that these people were gracious, empathetic, professional, and outstanding in their communications with us. Their workmanship is understated from them, and delivered well above our expectations. We dealt with Cliff (COO), Marla (Sales Facilitator), Erica (Accounting), Geff (Site Mgr) + his crew of 3, Van (Area Mgr), Derek (Engineering), David (Engineering), and Ryan (Project Estimator) and they are just really VERY good people. Here is the story; Mom was very sick and was going into the hospital for a bit. This was our chance to get her house fixed. Her foundation had dropped enough that the wall in two bedrooms had pulled from the roof trusses and you could see outside from inside the house! We got three different bids with the same criteria - we want to arrest the settling altogether, and raise the foundation at the most minimal cost. Ryan (nicest guy in the world) listened and explained the best way to take care of the home and the most common. He also explained how we could do exactly what we were asking, but it would be a bit different from their norm. This involved no piers and a shorter warranty period but "might" still be an involved process (it was). BTW, first bid from another company was $80k (their way only and no room for what we wanted to accomplish), second was $45k and later adjusted to $34k after they attempted to move more towards our criteria. We engaged EagleLift on behalf of Mom in October 2016 - now the trouble begins. We had to use power of attorney to get payments and authorizations for work to begin. City of Elk Grove decided that even with the reduced work outlined that permits were needed. They required engineering reports to apply for the permit and then Elk Grove moves at their pace. Required also was a third party rep on behalf of the City of Elk Grove to observe the work being done (yes...all of this is extra $$ and time). Meanwhile, Mom worsened and was sent to rehab, then the hospital again, back to rehab, then to assisted living, then to the hospital, then rehab, back to the hospital, and ultimately to Hospice before she passed in late November. Torrential rains and permitting kept delaying the start time for EagleLift. Assets being frozen/moved with Mom's passing delayed payments for engineering and mix-ups in cc #'s with EagleLift (EL), mis-communications with specialty work being performed by EL, sickness of key personal with EL and vacations/year-end holidays, permits, caused delays also. We FINALLY got going in March 2017! Day one - Geff's crew had a flat tire on the trailer and delayed them arriving for two hours (that is a HUGE time loss for them when they are squeezing our 2 day tiny job in-between other projects). Then they nicked the water main with a down tube (our water gets turned off). The material's gun began acting up and further delayed them. We complicated things by not remembering the payment process and having no money on hand to begin work. Cliff and Erica smoothed the edges on that part. Too much time had gone from engaging in October to the work in March that things were forgotten on both sides. Geff wanted to perform another time-consuming DCP test and we had to pull and show that it was already done. He worked the Mgmt "up line" (Van to Cliff) for the okay to just dig in to get the job done. Day two - Materials gun went down after each segment AND they had the third party observer standing over them questioning everything from that day and the previous as well...more time gone. Two day job would now be three. Day three - Geff could not get another gun and had to clean/repair the bad one in hopes of having it limp along to finish on the third day - no luck. Water main was repaired, broken gun limped along after each segment but at a cost of a few uniforms and Geff being soaked in the epoxy material and loss of valuable time for them. Despite all this...we actually got Geff to smile once or twice even though he was frustrated (when you meet him you will understand...he is just a hardworking and professional machine that does not show emotion). His crew were smiles all the time and happy to get things perfect for us. End result was a house that is level and less cosmetic repair than anticipated! Geff was very pleased with the results as we were. Cliff was always checking to ensure we were happy through the process, Marla was the best "air traffic controller" for communications for everyone, Erica (you can hear her smile through the phone every time) handled the monies, Ryan gets the nod for being an amazing rep for EL, and kudos to Van for holding all this together, Derek and David for prodding Elk Grove along after their DCP tests and engineering reports were above reproach with their submission. I have worked in The Trades for nearly 20 years as an Electrician. In that time I have been part of Many Projects from Residential to Commercial and Industrial. It is a rare occasion that construction ever stays on schedule and unheard of to hear about a project finishing ," Ahead of Schedule ". My Wife and I just purchased our first house , a fixer upper. The house needs a lotta Love but we are up for the challenge. Only problem was we could not start work except for Demo until the Foundation was raised. We had contacted Eagle Lyft during the inspection process of buying the home but could not pull the trigger until we closed escrow. The day we closed we made the call. The process usually takes about 30 days with pulling permits and ordering materials.... it's a long time to wait when you just bought your first house. Absolutely necessary if you want to build your future and your home on a solid foundation! While we were a little dismayed that our foundation could not be completely leveled (would've done more damage than good to attempt more lifting), we have a very stable foundation now and our accordian-style slab is much, much, much better. These guys are great. We purchased our home unaware the post tension slab foundation had sunk 6 inches low in the rear of the home over a 40 foot span. We did not know what to do. We contacted multiple contractors and decided to go with EagleLift since they were competitively priced and developed a plan that would help us get back to a level home. Site foreman Armando Rodriguez provided his personal cell phone number and checked in and out with us daily. He was very informative throughout the steps of the project. We have 2 young children and he and his crew made every effort to reduce any disturbance to our daily routines. Armando's crew Brent Caples, Lance Gibson and Brian Landeta were all very helpful and organized. They worked well together and you could tell they have done this many times. They cleaned up daily and treated our home as if it was theirs. EagleLift was able to restore our home back to its 1993 level state. I only have minor dry wall crack repairs to take care of. Not a bad trade off for a home that used to feel like walking on a wheel chair ramp. I am very satisfied with EagleLift and their service. We had an addition of about 600 sq. ft to our Lafayette home finished in 2008-9. A few years later we begn to note multiple cracks and issues with doors etc. It became evident tht the foundation for the addition was not sound and the Lafayette "clay" soil, drought and other factors were causing significant movement of our kitchen/pantry addition. (Down the hill) That started a difficult quest for an answer/solution to the problem. After 4-5 different company evaluations, estimates and a lot of soul searching we decided on Eaglelift to do the stablizing and lifting of our home and in particular the kitchen/pantry addition. A couple of the outfits were simply flaky--Dustin with Eaglelift did a good job connecting me with MO, an engineer and the project moved forward. For us dealing with the office staff was good and the on-site crew was the most impressive. Chris the foreman was professional, polite and reassuring to my wife as I was mostly at work and she ( as well as I ), understandigly, was nervous. Chris held our hands and explained the process including a couple of unexpected issues that arose as well as anyone could expect. After speaking with their office and setting a date and time that they offered, I had the estimator call me 25 minutes before our appointment, letting me know he was going to be 1 1/2 + hours late. Very poor for a company to offer a date and time and then call last minute expecting me to wait for them to give me a quote..... Estimator even said, "hey its a free estimate, we try and get as many calls in as possible and most people are already off this week". Short summary: What? my foundation is sinking? 2 years ago, my wife and kids moved into an 8 year old home and noticed in the interior some cracking in the floors, walls, and ceiling, as well as on the exterior. After discovering our foundation was sinking on the whole south side of the house, we were stressed out to say the least. The builder was contacted and thankfully totally accepted responsibility and contacted Eagle Lift. After the foreman Van with his crew Juan and Jose showed up, they totally put us at ease with their courteousness, knowledge, experience, and professionalism. They kept me informed and even gave me some education on the lifting process which helped me mentally feel more comfortable. They worked incredibly hard digging, drilling, setting, and even removing some sections from our patio concrete. After completing the whole lifting process which went exceptionally well, they re-poured the concrete and replaced all the landscaping with care and washed down the areas to look as if they were never there. I could not have picked a better company! I live in a soils area in the city of Torrance where the ground constantly moves and I continue to have issues with my doors and cracks in my drywall. My fireplace had sunk almost 2 inches and I couldn't watch the problem continue. Brendan was able to come out the very next day after I called and I had the report in two days so I was able to have peace of mind purchasing the new home. Marina was nice enough to honor my original quote despite the usual fee for the expedited service. All in, these guys are nice, professional and will take the time to explain everything to you.
