RC Concrete has done two separate jobs at my house. Their price was comparable to other quotes I received from other companies. I choose RC Concrete because they do a lot of concrete work in my area and they know the permit process for my city. Owner: Joe was also on site and worked with his crew. He is very knowledgeable and will give you many ideas for your project. Services: (Job 1) Demo and replaced garage and driveway concrete, expanded driveway, expanded apron of the driveway, and replaced the walkway. I used an aged gray color at half strength which made the concrete look older (not bright). The color initially looked brown when poured but dried to an aged gray that made it seem the driveway had been there for years. The concrete was 4" using #3 rebar (28" O-C) at 3000 psi. Crush aggregate was also used. I used a broom finish but with a band on the edges that was stamped. 10x12 Concrete slab in the backyard. RC Concrete pulled the permit from my city on my behalf for expanding the apron of the driveway. (Job 2) Added concrete on the side of the house (Trailer parking). Extended a cinder block wall to the front of the house. Added a curb to both side of the lawn to separate my lawn from my neighbors lawn. Added a curb to create a separation for a planter area. I scheduled an inspection with Joe and gave him a full hour-long window for meeting. I made it clear we were under a tight deadline, with our contingency period closing soon. I notified my agent, we coordinated our schedules, and we all met at the property. Twenty minutes before the appointment, Joe canceled. No explanation that justified the last minute timing, no attempt to make it right--just a cancellation and a request to push the inspection three days later. I agreed only if he would waive the $65 fee of the inspection for canceling last-minute. He refused. The concrete Joe and his crew helped install was great. His crew was in and out of the place in a few days and he was prompt and delivered on time. The company even sent a crew out to help address a stain or section that didn't dry properly. Reason why this isn't a 5 star review is because of what happened to my existing backyard (pavers, planter, and gravel landscape) and how poor of a job his crew did to put things back together. A bobcat was needed to remove the dirt but there wasn't enough clearance to the backyard without moving my planter and landscape. They rode over my pavers and gravel pit first before realizing it couldn't support the weight of the bobcat. My pavers and gravel pit now have a dip/dent that will need to be repaired. After they finished the job they tried to put everything back together and the planter was uneven as well as the boarders of my gravel pit. They were quick to get out of there then to want to help put things back together as it originally was... I think this could've been prevented had the person who took measurements provided more details on the entry points or if they had someone to survey the area ahead of time instead of figuring it out all on the same day and rushing to get through the job. I went with RC Concrete based on their experience and I expected more from them but was fairly disappointed by their overall service. Now I'm left to correct the mess they left at my time and expense. If you decide to go with them, make sure you request they do a survey in advance so you're better prepared on what needs to be moved to complete the job. read more

This review is long overdue but deserving nonetheless. I reached out to RC Concrete for a quote and they were responsive from the very beginning. I worked with Joe and he was professional and patient in answering every question I had over a couple of weeks. I worked with at least 4 other companies for quotes and Joe was the most thorough of them all and upfront with their pricing. He worked with our schedule and completed the job under the estimated time which shows how focused and efficient they are. I love it when people actually do what they say they are going to do and commit to the job. They showed up early everyday, respected our property and did an amazing job! What we appreciated the most was how they addressed our concerns of a dead tree where the roots were still growing and they completely got rid of it before any other work was done. They did not cut corners! They did so well that even our neighbors were thoroughly impressed by their work ethic, professionalism and quality of their work that they always compliment our home whenever we see them! 1) Estimates - Joe reached out to me after I sent a message on Yelp. I told him this was a small project yet he still showed up and gave the most competitive estimate. Some contractors don't even bother to talk to me due to a small project. 2) Turn around time - Joe started the job within the same week when I accepted his quote. But pls keep in mind that this is in Nov. Joe and his crew only took 2 days to finish the job. 3) Job - I did concrete work for 2 parking spots in the backyard, and a staircase demo which was replaced with a new staircase. 4) Communication - Joe is responsive with text messages and answer all my questions. During the project, we changed our minds and wanted to improve the project for extra costs, Joe listened and gave his professional opinions too. The main reason I am giving him a 5-star review is that he is very open minded and he listens to what you want to do. If you have the different opinion about doing things in a different way, he respects you and he will cooperate with you and even make things much better with his professional opinions. You barely see this precious quality in any other contractors. 5) Professionalism - Joe used a bobcat to dig dirt and demo everything we wanted to demo. So fast and no damage! We worked with Kevin from quote to finish. Process was fairly easy and they completed the work so fast in only 2 days. They were able to fit us it and complete the work in the timeline that we need. Kevin and Joe was involved in the demo, rebar and preparing of the concrete. There was one minor hiccup with the sprinklers but my garden should be about to reroute the sprinklers heads to the trees. Excellent! They came in with bright attitudes and comoetency, and finished our 3-car driveway within a day. I didn't know who was contracted to complete my mother's driveway. I have issues with anyone who does not give clear communication. I later found out that they were working for the general contractor, so I give that star back to them. I think, however, they either need to do better about communicating or make a contingency plan for homeowners to go in and out of their home when the driveway is the only access. My mother is elderly. When they showed up in the morning, I was told that no one would be able to walk on the driveway for 24 hours. Really? No in or out? How was I supposed to get back out to get to my own home? How was Mom supposed to get out as necessary? How was the postman supposed to get to the door? None of these things were considered or discussed with us prior to arrival. Again however, I found out that this was more the fault of the general contractor, than Rodriguez. Once they got to it, it went pretty fast and competently. They told us what they were going to do, offered no contingency plan for access to the house, and got to it. They jacked up the old asphalt, cleaned their space and hailed away. They poured gravel and balanced as necessary. They layed the parts down for breathing space between slabs--and I went away. By the time I came back, half the driveway was drying, and they were finishing the last piece. They cleaned up nicely, received their check, and went about their way. I was told to water it twice daily for the next 7 days, don't walk on it for 24 hours, and don't drive on it for a week. God did us the favor of raining for the next two days, then we followed the remainder of the instructions. Two months later, still beautiful. Bravo Rodriguez Team! read more

For those who have never had a big project it could be a pretty stressful situation because it involves tens of thousands of dollars. You also have to do some research beforehand so that you can be realistic with your overall expectations in pricing. We began shopping for a contractor in mid-May to redo the original asphalt driveway from the 50s. Along the way, we wanted to add a walkway in our backyard and redo the front walkway and stairs. We had several contractors come over and give quotes. We narrowed it down to two based on pricing and reviews. We decided to go with Rodriguez Concrete because Joe was more personable. He communicated with us in a timely manner and even on Sundays when we had questions. He was able to show us some of his other completed projects before we began ours. Pricing was within our budget and we wanted to point out that he worked with us on getting a very good quote. Once we worked out the details of the project he scheduled us in. A slight reschedule later, they showed up at 7:00am and began the demo. Joe, Eddie, and the crew worked quick and efficiently to get things ready for pouring the next morning. I hired this company to do an approach in Buena Park , I paid the deposit and signed a contract. I kept in touch with Anthony, who I must say he was terrific . The issue was that they did not provide the city with the requirements to complete the job . The owner Joe told me if the city requested anything else , he was going to cancel the job . I decided to call the city and inquire about what the Rodriguez company had submitted, and they informed me that they were missing the normal requirements. I was dissatisfied to hear that the company I had hired to the job was not able to gather their paperwork to submit to public works . It was easy for Joe to say if they asked for anything else , he was going to cancel the job . I get it , sometimes it's difficult , but if you committed, follow through . After speaking with the city , I decided hiring this company was not going to work for me , since they were fast to tell me they were going to walk away from the job , because it was costing them money and time to submit the city requirements. read more
