We recently took a half day tour with GSI from our hotel in Puerto Rico to the El Yunque rainforest. We were promised hours of hiking through the forest to big waterfalls we could swim through and other highlights. The very bumpy van took us all the up through the forest, and made 3 stops on the way down. The first stop was a tower to climb. It was a pretty sight from the top, but then we had to wait for all the other people on our van, who spent a long time at the top. There was nothing for us to do other than wait for them. Got back in the van - next stop was a VERY small waterfall, literally on the side of the road! Had to dodge traffic just to look at it. It was not at all what we expected. Looked at it for a few minutes, then got back in the van. Our next stop was about a 5 minute hike to a stream where we were told we could swim. No waterfall. There was a rope swing, but it was on the other side of the river and again, the swim area was nothing like what was in the brochure. That was it. End of the tour. For $95.00 a person, we were hoping to explore the rainforest, not make 3 quick stops and see practically nothing... disappointing. read more

I have to give Groups Services, Inc. five stars just because of our tour guide, Amy, for a walking tour in the Rainforest. We were picked up at El Conquistador Resort and she was so entertaining that I could not tell you how long the ride was. She was full of stories and was very knowledgeable about Puerto Rico. She was also very dramatic when it was called for. She took us through the Rainforest and told us what to look out for. At the end, she took us to the waterfall and showed us how to do some trick shots with it. If I ever was going to go on another tour through Group Services, I would always ask for Amy. We stayed at the caribe Hilton which was amazing. We made the mistake of booking the half day rainforest and half day beach tour. We left at 8 in the morning. The rainforest was gorgeous but the entire tour felt rushed. We went to three stops and spent about 10-15 min at each stop. After the rainforest where we spent ~1.5 hrs we drove to restaurant, food was okay. we spent way too much time there and by the time we got to the beach it was 1:15, spent two hours there. Beach was clean but the bathrooms were disgusting! We were disappointed with our tour because we spent so much money on it. The second one we did was the kayak tours to the bioluminescent lagoon. This was not what it was made out to be. We kayaked through a narrow channel that smelled and it was pitch dark. We got to the middle of the lake, lined up our kayaks and then got under a blanket to see the plankton. Would not recommend this to anyone. On the way back, there were no bathrooms, and our driver drove into a ditch. We all had to get out of the bus, and he was pulled out and then he proceeded to back into another car. Puerto Rico is beautiful but the tours provided by this company are horrible. I would've rather explored on our own, or try a different company. read more

This is a huge mega-company that does everything from airport pickups to day trips away from the main cities. We got their name and contact details from the hotel concierge. They are one of the bigger companies in town. However, bigger does not mean better. Part of the problem lies in the sign up process. The brochure said very little apart from the destinations. It did list the duration of the tour, whether it is a private tour, whether meals or rest stops were included etc. We called the number to leave a voice mail message as instructed. We were told that all voice mails will be confirmed by a call back. Guess what,... no call back. We called the hotel concierge who managed to track down one of the managers who told us everything is a-ok and we were to show up at 7:45 to join the group tomorrow. We showed up and we were told the tour we wanted to go on doesn't depart that day,... it's the next day. Undefeated, we smiled and said "ok, let's do it tomorrow". Once underway the next day, things went pretty smoothly. The tour guide was nice but we got the feeling that he's done this tour way too many times and was not into it anymore. Not too much of a fault,... but it certainly showed. If I was to do this again, I would organize a rental car before arriving at PR and go on the drives ourselves. It would be all very doable for much less. This tour is not worth the 70 dollars per person. read more

My wife and I were on our honeymoon in Puerto Rico and spent the first half of our week there traveling around the island in a rented car trying to scope out all the beaches around the northern coast of the island. We had planned to spend the last day or two either going to one of the islands Culebra or Vieques and the bio bay near Fajardo. We tried ourselves to drive from San Juan to Fajardo to make the ferry to Culebra that leaves at 9:00 in the morning. We left at 6 to make it there by 7 stood in line for two hours before they told us that we wouldn't be able to go. I definitely do not recommend doing that. So the second to last day we checked out the Condado kiosk for GSI to see if there would be any chance of going to one of the islands or to visit the bio bay. The bio bay was unfortunately book out for the next week or too as we had anticipated, but Jezebel who was working the counter still made the effort and called to see if there had been any cancelations just in case but there weren't. She did let us know that there were two spots left on the snorkeling trip via powerboat out to to Culebra. We were thrilled put down a deposit and and went home happy. When we returned to our hotel my wife checked this yelp page and saw the bad reviews and showed me. We started to worry but realized there was nothing we could do at the moment. The next morning we waited at the hotel and were given a heads up call by the driver and he arrived right on time. the bus ride was pleasant and the driver was nice. We were sized out for snorkeling gear and loaded onto the the power boat. The crew was funny and and very helpful throughout the trip over to the island. There were choppy points out in middle of the boat ride. Which is to be expected in a small vessel out on the open sea. The crew helped out all the people who weren't feeling so well by bringing them bags, ice water, and bags of ice to cool them down. We had a great time when we got to the island! We had time to snorkel and see the reef. We saw lots of beautiful fish and even a barracuda! We were served a buffet lunch and then taken over to the other side of the island to the beautiful Flamenco beach. My wife and I had so much fun. I wanted to write this review to calm the nerves of anyone else who is thinking of going on one of their trips and sees the poor ratings and because I think the people who work for GSI deserve it. Most of all Jezebel who saved the day and the honeymoon for my wife and I. She helped us have the vacation experience that we wanted in Puerto Rico and went the extra mile to help us. Writing a review for the rainforest "tour". We were picked up by an eager tour guide who was proud to show off all that puerto rico had to offer along the way, but when we got to the rainforest thats when it all went down hill. The "tour" was pathetic. We walked down a path and were stopped every two seconds to look a very basic plants, and PICTURES of what we could POSSIBLY see along the way. I didn't pay 51$ to see pictures. I could've gotten a book in the library for cheaper, or googled it. We were taken into a room to watch a movie, which was probably awkward and pointless for those who can't understand spanish. Then we were driven up the hill to the tower which was cool, but we didn't even get to see much of the water fall. We thought it was called the waterfall tour, but we were mistaken. We then were taken back down the hill to get food if we wanted. Overall I spent 51$ for a bus ride that almost made me sick, and to get food. It was a waste of money. I would suggest renting a car for the day, and going on your own. read more

Worst organized trip. We waited outside of the hotel for 2 hours for the tour bus, and nobody came.

Your group did a absolute amazing job in every aspect of my stay here. Every employee I came across was always smiling and very pleasant. Annabail I believe his name was, I had a great conversation with while doing our sailing and snorkeling activity. I signed up for a tour with the Condado Plaza Hilton Concierge. They had my room number and cell phone number. Told to report by 8 AM for my tour. At 7:02 AM, the concierge calls me to say they are here to pick me up! I said that's incorrect. They told me that because of expected traffic, they are leaving early. What? NO PHONE CALL the evening before, NO MESSAGE, NOTHING. This is a huge monopoly outfit. They have ruined what I had hoped would be a nice day snorkeling in Puerto Rico. And since this is my last day, and I can't book a different trip now, a major disappointment. read more

We had a great experience with Lismar on our tour of El Yunque, followed by two hours at Luquillo beach. We spent the first half of the day stopping at the various sites in the rainforest, followed by a stop for lunch and then on to the beach. Lismar was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of El Yunque and the island in general. I only wish we would have spent more time actually walking through the rainforest. However, I believe GSI does offer tour options that involve more hiking. Would recommend! read more

I signed up for a rainforest tour that was supposed to go to a waterfall you could swim in and hike around ect. Well its was pretty much a scam I paid 51 dollars to sit on a bus for the majority of the tour. When we got to the rainforest we walked down a commercialized path that seriously had signs of the animals that lived it the rainforest the path was very short. Our tour guide hardly made any sense about anything he wasn't very good at making the tour fun instead he kept telling stories about his personal life. After the little stroll through the fake path we got back on the bus and went to this room and watched a video that was all in Spanish the only good thing was it was air conditioned. Then we got back on the bus went to a lookout tower where we walked up 90 stairs took pictures got back on the bus stopped at this little rain forest village and got food then got back on the bus all in all if u want to sit on a bus for six hours and not see anything that has to do with the rainforest then take this tour but other than that I think I should have gotten paid to go on it instead of the other way around it was the worst 50 dollars I've ever spent. Our hotel recommended we take the tour to El Yunque with this company. We were asked to be in front of our hotel at 7:45am to depart at 8:00am. In total there was a group of 5 of us waiting outside. The group waited outside for an hour and forty minutes the bus did not arrive until 9:40 and the bus drive/tour guide berated us once we got on the bus saying we should not be upset because he was in traffic and didn't have time to call the hotel to communicate the delay. The hotel call the GSI and they offer 10 dollars off for our troubles. They were completely unbothered by our experience and unapologetic. Needless to say this company need to work on it communication and customer service. If you can book with another tour company you definitely should. Horrible! read more

We did the Rainforest and Luquillo Beach tour with GSI tours, arranged by the Sheraton Old San Juan. This was the one disappointment of our time in Puerto Rico. The guide, Jesus, was the worst I've ever had--unfriendly, sexist and lazy. As we drove in silence to pick up others, I asked his name and he snapped, "I'll start the tour when I've picked everyone up." I would have liked to hear about the neighborhoods and history as we drove through San Juan! Once at the rainforest (which was lovely) we learned some botanical facts, but these were mixed with unfunny jokes about leaving people to die who climbed on rocks and inappropriate jokes to the men about natives with multiple wives. The worst part was that the 30 min. hike was really a 5 min walk to a shelter, a lecture and a 5 min walk back. Clearly, he just did not want to walk. Another guide we passed seemed surprised how quickly we left our "hike" to head for the beach. Luquillo was ok, but I would have just as happily taken a cab to Condado Beach. Again, less time at the beach than the itinerary stated; we were back to our hotel very early. I wish we'd done the all-day rainforest tour with a good guide and then a day at Culebra. Certainly not worth $79! read more

The rainforest tour was a refreshing get away from the resort. Carlos was our tour guide and he was fantastic! He was knowledgeable from the history of the island to the various types of flora and fauna in the forest and was able to answer all of our questions. The drive from our resort to the rainforest was about an hour long, which was fine because it allowed us to see life outside of resort areas on the island. The tour itself was disappointing. We were in the van most of the time and only walked a total of 45 minutes. Very few animals actually inhabit the forest, so you'll mostly get a tour of the different species of plants. We weren't allowed to climb the rocks to the waterfall due to safety issues, but overall, the views were fantastic, especially from the tower that gives one of the best views of the forest (the tower does have 98 steps you have to climb to get the view). If you have never been to El Yunque, I'd recommend this tour, especially if it's offered through the hotel (it makes it easier to book everything!) Tour: 4 stars. Carlos: 5 stars. read more
