This is truly a hidden gem that has been a local favorite for quite sometime. I had been several years ago and was so happy to find this gem that I knew I had to go when I was in Naples for my HS reunion. Nothing fancy here but some of the best seafood in the area. The Grouper and shrimp were fresh and the batter was light and crunchy. Went at lunch and got the lunch size portion which was a lot of food. Wait staff were warm and friendly and kept my glass of tea full. It is a very casual and quaint place which offers outdoor and indoor seating. They do quite a bit of business with a steady stream of cars coming and going for to go orders. This is definitely a must visit place if you find yourself in Naples.

I like to stop at this little restaurant every time I am on the area. They make one of the best soups around. I once tried the apple soup and was hooked with the soup of the day. Whatever soup they make is very good and my reason for stopping every time. Today's I ordered the seafood chowder. I didn't get the soup of the day the shrimp chowder only because of allergies. The seafood chowder was excellent. I loved it and it was delicious. I then ordered the Grouper sandwich. It was good and flaky. The service was excellent. The staff was friendly. I enjoyed my time here. I liked my time here and the food.

Always have to stop when visiting Naples. The absolute best grouper ever! I love the blackened and fried equally. There are so many interesting things on the menu that I'd love to try , but I can't get away from the grouper. Yes, it's that good! It's a small place, so go early. The wait is worth it.

Grouper & Chips delivers seafood the way it should be done--fresh, thoughtful, and consistently excellent. The New England seafood chowder is rich and comforting without being heavy. I had the linguine with blackened grouper, and it was outstanding: perfectly seasoned, flaky fish tossed with olive oil, garlic, fresh vegetables, and their signature lemon beurre blanc, finished with a warm petite pan roll. The tempura-battered grouper and fries is a classic for a reason--ultra-fresh fish, light and crispy batter, never greasy, with solid fries, fresh coleslaw, and great tartar sauce. Do not skip dessert. The "Dark & Tart" key lime pie with chocolate mousse is bright, tangy, creamy, and indulgent in the best way. Great food, genuinely friendly service, and consistent execution make this a must-eat in Naples. Ps the place is tiny and cozy, so if you go at prime dinner hours be prepared to wait but absolutely worth it.

1st time here.....we ordered the hush puppies which were good. I ordered the grouper & shrimp. The shrimp was excellent, sorry to say the grouper was mushy, only good thing was the breading. The fries were meh. Tried it, won't be back, was not good enough to want again.

Talk about a hidden local gem - this is it! Family run small cafe serving first rate grouper, shrimp. I had the grouper milanese - lightly breaded in a wonderful sauce- rice and veggies at an incredible price given that it's Naples. Grouper & shrimp basket - well fried. Cole slaw fresh and delicious. The two ladies serving us were so kind and welcoming, checking in to make sure everything was great and making the experience even more special. If you're in the area, make this a must stop. Been here a few times and it's always fantastic. Super hole in the wall type of place with not too many seats. Grouper is INCREDIBLE and you can get it fried, sautéed, or blackened. It's fresh every day! All fantastic! Seafood chowder is another great choice. It's really filling and could be a meal on its own! Grouper fettuccine is usually my choice and it's just so delicious. Really well seasoned and the sauce is unique and super tasty. It comes with sautéed vegetables as well which is a nice bonus. Service is always good! Even if there's a wait--wait. Do not miss this gem in Naples! read more

Best fish in Naples!!! I've been here twice now on vacation and it is the one restaurant my family dreams about for the entire next year until we get back. The fish is so FRESH and crispy! I highly recommend the Fisherman's platter-- it is huge but great for sharing! The fried scallops were completely new to me but are ridiculously good. I also enjoy their hush puppies with chipotle mayo! This is a hidden gem; from the outside, it doesn't look like much, but the food is outstanding!!! read more

Stopped in yesterday at this family owned and run spot.. Service .food..and atmosphere are extremely professional and pleasant..Both Natalee and I can't remember our server's name..but she was incredible...The food is so on point..from the conch fritters to the blackened grouper to the key lime pie...THIS is what America is about....will def be returning often..BATTS lives this place.. read more

We ordered the conch fritters, linguine with blackened grouper, as well as the fried grouper sandwich with sweet potato fries. We've never had conch fritters before so we didn't know what to expect. They were ok - chewy pieces of conch inside w nice seasoning. Not the best appetizer we've ever had. Not too sure what all the hype about the linguine is - it tasted a bit on the oily and bland side, not much flavor. But I liked the veggies that came with it, as well as that heaping portion of well seasoned grouper fish. I wish I had another one of those bread rolls that it came with. The sandwich was pretty good. Sweet potato fries are excellent. The dark and tart key lime pie with mousse is very good. The mousse is homemade - wonderful combination of the dark sweet chocolate with the creamy custardy tart lime pie. Good find but our expectations were definitely heightened from reading the Yelp reviews before we went in. read more

This is a no frills Naples institution that gets a lot of traffic. The place is small, and very cramped so do not come here with a large party. I would recommend 4 people max. The blackened grouper with beurre blanc and sides is the way to go here, it's basic but elevated at the same time and the price point of $18 is a good deal for the area. My kids and husband like their fried grouper sandwich and baskets, but I'm not a fan of the heavy tempura batter. My only confusion is why a sandwich with one piece of fish is $18 and 3 piece basket is about $21. I think this place is great if you know what to expect and if you order the right dish for your taste. Takeout is also a good option for this place but keep in mind that the fried entrees will get a little soggy in transit, but they really nail the crispy batter if you eat there. Fries need salt, the batter and fries are not seasoned but you can just season it to your taste. Slaw and tartar sauce are also very good. The key lime pie there is super creamy, love the texture but for me it needs more tartness as I like my key lime pie pretty tart, however the texture is amazing! read more

Food was great! My husband had the linguine and grouper with veggies...he has been talking about it all afternoon. I had the 1 basket blackened grouper with fries. Perfect portions for lunch....just wish they offered baked potatoes instead of fries, but oh well was still very good. Service was fast and servers were super friendly. The place is small and cramped. I had the Grouper with linguine, it tasted like hospital food no seasoning whatsoever the vegetables were cooked to death. The bread a bland banquet hall roll. The conch fritters did taste great as well as the key lime pie. read more

Nothing to see here, but the food is great! Super greasy and heavy (the fried stuff, obviously), but it is definitely the seafood version of comfort food! Wouldn't bother with the fries since they're generally pretty soggy, but a lot of the dishes come with them. The slaw is good and the fried shrimp are my favorite. We come here every year when we visit Naples! read more

Both times during our visit we were happily served with a smile. Service is speedy. The food is delicious. naturally grouper is the thing to order. The restaurants in the strip mall that is nothing special. I appreciated the outside dining so that I could sit with my little dog. This place is a little hole in the wall in a strip mall in Naples but honestly it deserves a kingdom. Their menu is mouthwatering, and as a seafood and southern food lover I got the hush puppies with some seafood chowder to start. Hush puppies were to die for, the seafood chowder was to die for as well. For the main course I had the name of the place, Grouper and chips. I didn't realize how good grouper was until I had some. We saw the great Yelp reviews before hand, but became slightly skeptical as we walked up. Warning: Siri takes you to the side of the building and you have to park and walk around front. There was plenty of parking around 2:30 FYI! There's also a lot right in front, but Siri (maps) took us the back way. Anyways, it was still crowded considering it was almost 3 and june. The building and environment are unassuming but we were warmly greeted as we walked in. The service was great throughout the meal. We started with a crab cake and it was delicious!! My mom is very picky bout crab cakes, but this one was perfect. All crab with very little filler plus a delicious lemon buerre blanc sauce made it even better. We got to try the garlic bread because the table next to us shared after we commented our delicious it smelled!! I highly recommend the blackened grouper on/with anything and also anything that comes with the buerre blanc sauce. My husband got the blackened grouper Caesar which had plenty of green lettuce and the perfect amount of dressing. I got the lunch portion of the blackened grouper with my choice of sides. I picked rice and steamed vegetables not really expecting to eat them. But the steamed vegetables were actually really good!! Still crunchy. My parents got fried grouper sandwiches which they enjoyed as well! We'll certainly be back! read more

Great service, very friendly staff, and excellent food. We came in around 2:00 on a Wednesday afternoon, a family of 6, they sat us after just a couple minutes of rearranging tables. We ordered calamari which was excellent! My husband and I had grouper, the kids had chicken, except my oldest who had the blackened shrimp linguine and I was honestly jealous. Staff were attentive and very quick. We plan to go back next year when we make our annual trip to the area. Told our relatives who live here and they plan to check them out. read more

Established in 1994.

Francis Pischner, Chef/owner came to Naples from a 5 star french restaurant in Miami Florida. He saw a need for a simple, fair priced, fish house and found the perfect little spot right on 41. He opened the doors in 1994 and the rest pretty much speaks for itself!

Delicious! We thought we were done, but our server informed us of the excellent Key Lime pie. We had room to share one slice, and we are so happy we did! It was excellent. A great balance of tartness and sweetness. We look forward to returning!

This place is incredible. I'm the Grouper and Chips daughter :) My parents opened this little hole in the wall when I was just 4 years old. The "cheesy" Marilyn Monroe and James Dean decor is all my Mom :) She's loved James, Marilyn and Elvis for as long as I can remember. I personally think it's great. It brings some of her personality to the store. For those who dine here regularly, you've probably met my parents at some point. They're two of the most honest, hard working people you could ever hope to know. My Dad is actually classically French trained. He'd been cooking in 5 star French restaurants since he was 19 years old before he opened this place. He's AMAZING. Trust me. Combined with an Italian mother who can make anything and everything, meals were such a feast growing up. I love reading all of the reviews. Obviously more are positive than negative. I'm a little sensitive to negative reviews, I'm not gonna lie...but then I remember (having grown up in the restaurant business) that you can't please everyone. It's comical to me that people can be irritated over a "$4" price raise. My parents would DEFINITELY never raise a menu item $4 at one time. Given the fact they've been open since 1994, obviously prices are going to go up. And ALL of the seafood is REAL and FRESH. There are a few frozen items like the hushpuppies. But it's no secret. My Dad has always upheld that. My Mom has been making that Key Lime Pie since before I was born. It's her own recipe. I've never had a better slice anywhere else. You Grouper Groupies make it all worthwhile for my Mom and Dad (who are about to celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary!) Spread the word- If you love fresh fish, look no further :) Grouper and Chips is definitely the place to be. Come here, and you'll spend half of what you would on this type of food anywhere else in Naples. They've been open for over 16 years. After my girlfriend did the research, we found this spot. And boy are we glad we did. It doesn't look like much from the road, but when you park and walk up, the place was filled with mirth and happy locals, and wonderful aromas. We both ordered the blackened grouper. Absolutely delicious. It comes with rice, mixed veggies , and a roll. All wonderful, but when you're include the white lemon sauce, it all comes together. Very nicely. We were there for lunch and although busy, we were able to be seated promptly. The waitress was very cheerful and pleasant. I ordered the sauteed grouper with linguine, while my wife had the grouper sandwich basket. We both felt this was the best grouper we have had in Florida. I live in Chicago and when I visit Naples, I try to eat here at least once while in town. They have the best seafood soup I've ever tried. The grouper in the soup was AMAZING--cooked to perfection. My last visit there, I ordered the linguini with Mahi Mahi, which was a special at the time (so I don't know if it's always offered), and it was great. I highly recommend it if it's available! My girlfriend ordered one of the fish specials, but she didn't enjoy her meal as much as I did. I don't remember what it was, but she has bad taste ;-) They are reasonably priced. The seating inside and outside is plastic lawn chairs that cost $4 at Big Lots and are shifting while you sit. The tables are tiny.
