My friend received a strong recommendation to this coffee shop so we stopped by. I asked the barista a little bit about their espresso blend but she didn't seem to know much. My Americano was honestly, very disappointing. My friend ordered black coffee and that was pretty good. It looked like a nice place to hang out though so I might go back another time and try something else out. read more

Love this place! They're located on a church campus but are open every day. Every time I've gone in there I have been greeted by the friendly baristas - half the time I don't know what to get and they never rush me and often times have several yummy suggestions for me! They offer wifi access and there are usually students in there studying, people working away from the office, and friends catching up. The coffee shop has outside seating as well for those nice mornings and days. The church campus also has a nice playground for the kids to get out some energy. Pretty awful experience all around. There was at least five people working behind there tiny counter and despite having no line I still felt rushed. The cashier who was training someone, never smiled once and did not know how to redeem my yelp check in. Husband got almond latte, totally burnt, I got an iced white mocha, which tasted like watered down dirt even though there was not enough ice to even cool it. I love The Grove Coffee! I will start with the service and how awesome it is. Amber is very personable, courteous, professional and friendly. She always acknowledges each customer and makes you feel at home. All the folks that I have encountered at the counter are very well trained and exhibit Amber's values and behaviors. They have all shown a great sense of ownership and professionalism. And of course the coffee product is incredible. I have tried several of the drinks and they are all very good and the quality has been very repeatable. The service and quality both speak to me of the standards Amber must have set and the training of each of the folks representing The Grove. Finally the baked goodies are delicious and fresh. I made the mistake of trusting a negative review I read and stayed away for far too long and now I regret that. This has become my favorite place for coffee, goodies and hanging out. went in for coffee and dirty chai. Both tasted really off and not how it should be. Pricing is spends compared to other shops around. Also, there's a no guns allowed sign on the door so if you are carrying like most people in Arizona, you'll have to walk all the way back to your car to put your weapon away to get coffee. BEST COFFEE EVER!!! Honestly Bergie's is closer and delivers via DoorDash, but I'd rather drive farther for The Grove coffee. It never has tasted like Starbucks' syruped down "coffee" and is cheaper. Can't visit this place enough! The coffee is amazingly smooth, the staff is extremely friendly, and can make any drink you can imagine for a great price. My favorite so far is a medium mocha latte which is only $3.50! The atmosphere is perfect for sitting with a good book or visiting with friends. I was surprised - no, shocked - to find such an incredible coffeeshop in this suburban area. My coffee was prepared with pour-over brewing, my first clue to the quality being a patient, quality-focused brew. There was a table setup where 2 staffers were cupping a few drinks as I was there. The owner works directly with farmers to provide fair trade offerings, and has a pedigree as a former Cartel employee. This is a recipe for success but it all means nothing to a coffee snob like me unless the coffee is good. I'd ordered the Costa Rican, and it was fantastic! Great value for the generous size of the drink, too (only $2.50 for a real "large," not those little 12oz cups.) This was my first time in the area for a workout and I live 40 minutes away, so I'm not sure how often I'll be back but if you are anywhere east of Cartel in Tempe, this is - dare I say -at least comparable to Cartel and by far the best coffee anywhere in the area. Have been to the Groves twice since the new owners have taken over. The first visit was okay, nothing special. Our server mentioned business is slow and they are only open for Breakfast and Lunch. Our second visit was on a Saturday in May, 2015. Time was approximately 11:30 when we were seated and given menus. We ordered our drinks and reviewed the menu for lunch. We made our decision. Our server came over around 11:45 and wrote down our order but she said she would have to check with the manager (or owner) if we could place a lunch order. We were surprised at her comment as their menu states lunch starts at 11. We watched as our server approached the manager. His answer was short and firmly said no, never checking to see what time it was. There was no eye contact, no apologies, nor a reason why the menus have not been updated to reflect the correct time for lunch. We were stunned by the response. We had the option to sit and wait 10 minutes till it was 12 so our order could be placed or leave. We left. No Customer Satisfaction Here! We will never go back and never recommend the Groves. We had our lunch at another Gilbert establishment. read more
