Nando is a great guy, super personable and the food was to die for. Some of the most authentic Italian food I have had and am excited to go back to a store that's so vibrant. A quaint little Italian shop tucked off the beaten path in snowy Buffalo. I ordered the Meatball Culletto, and it was absolutely delicious, easily one of the freshest sandwiches I've had in the area. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The service was quick, and everyone was incredibly welcoming and hospitable, which made the experience even better. My only small caveat is that the menu is somewhat limited, especially considering how fresh and flavorful everything is, I would have loved to see even more options. I went today to Da Nando with 4 friends today. None of us had ever been there. First, I have to say the owner is very friendly and makes you feel instantly at home. It's cafeteria style (for now, I'm sure), where you go up, order, pay for your food, then sit at one of the 4 tables. The place is very clean and for now, they have folding chairs, but you will absolutely overlook that when you try the food. It's a small place and I'm sincerely hoping eventually they can expand. And I'll explain why... . As the owner will proudly tell you, they have won awards for their sauce. I'm not in the least bit surprised... it is absolutely scrumptious! It's not like the sauce you find at most places. This is authentic Northern Italian sauce. The flavor is so rich, I could literally drink it from a cup! The meatballs are very flavorful, and the homemade bread... thick and hardy. . I ordered what was a breaded rice ball with a meatball in the middle. They threw in a couple extra meatballs and cut me a huge hunk of bread. My friends all ordered what was a stuffed half loaf of bread and got to choose their own fillings. We were all extremely happy with the food. . Now what makes this special other than the food... the two men who make sure your dining experience is a good one. The owner, once we were finished eating, sat with us at our table and got to know a bit about us. He told us that he also offers cooking lessons with Italian lessons! What a fun lunch experience. The owner, Nando is such a great guy. They can sense first timers, and wow they made us feel so special. We were provided samples of the bread and cheese. Nando LOVES to talk, and explain the food and his culture! Loved hearing the story behind these culetto sandwiches. Basically what I heard in America we call them an "ass" sandwhich. Hahaha basically take the butt of the bread and stuff it with goodness. You can dine in here, I personally call it take out spot, but again there are a few tables and chairs to eat in, which is what we did. I love a good meatball, so went with the meatball one. It did not disappoint. Loved ever bite, which is hard because the sandwhich is so big. There are two sizes choose, regular and colossal We went with regular which was great portion, only imagine what the colossal looks like. There are two choices of bread white or sourdough. Of course went with the sourdough. Delicious. My "butt bread" was stuffed well with cheese, sauce and meatballs. I wasn't able to eat it all there, by the end of night, after it sat OMG soooo good. The bread had really soaked up that delicious sauce. My mom made her own, which she stuffed with turkey and cheese. There was plenty of desserts, but unfortunately were so stuffed didn't try. But while we were there a couple came in just for them and bought tons. Told us favorite spot to grab dessert. I'll try some next time. I have to also speak on the "mother's wall'. I ordered here for a work lunch after asking them "what's good in the Northtowns." Happy when they suggested we try something different. I ordered the night before through DoorDash. The consensus was a build-your-own culetto, which sounded right up my alley. The ordering process was easy, although there were a few differences between the restaurant's menu (found on Yelp/social media) and DoorDash (no wheat bread option and aged provolone was the only cheese available). One thing I appreciated: you could pile on multiple meats without an upcharge. Naturally, the dietitian side of me chose turkey. The food-lover side of me immediately regretted it. My work partner ordered the meatball version, and wow - those meatballs, the sauce, and that crusty bread were clearly the winning combination. The sandwiches were served in little soup cups to help hold what I can only describe as a "bread pocket." It was delightfully messy, involved a fair amount of crunching, and was absolutely worth it. The office also requested tiramisu, so I ordered a couple individual cups, along with a sfogliatella. If you've never had one, imagine the love child of a croissant and a pastry shell: dozens of delicate, flaky layers that shatter with every bite, surrounding a lightly sweet ricotta filling with hints of citrus and vanilla. It's crisp, creamy, buttery, and delicate. Overall, I'm grateful for this opportunity to something a little different. So, from the moment Maria and I walked in the door we were treated like family. A family with the best bakers and cooks in the world. Being new, Nando walked us through the menu and helped us understand everything. The ingredients are perfect. The bread made me want to forsake all other bread. My wife makes the best meatballs I have ever eaten. Maria and Nando shared this common connection of how they cook their perfect food. We were searching for amazing food in the area and we have found food heaven. The meats and cheeses and vegetables used to include the homemade relishes are beyond perfect. Oh my God ! What wonderful restaurant. Seen a FB ad and decided to try it with wife. It was amazing. Came in and was immediately greeted by owner, Nando. We barely started reading menu boards and he offered us some of house made bread, which was excellent. Still looking at menu and was offered piece of Parmesan cheese also excellent. While waiting for our order he offered a slice of real Genoa Salami. Then we sat down to homemade sauce with Organic Penne pasta with half loaf of bread. Nothing bad to say. Went with a small group for dinner. A couple of us ordered the pasta and meatballs dish, which was good. No vegetarian arancini was available, so our daughter was a little disappoinred about that. Sandwiches including the meatballs in bread were tasty but overtaken by the hefty crunchy bread. While the bread was authentic there was a lot for the amount of meatballs. Plus extra bread was put on the table. In Italy you aren't served oil or butter with the bread, in authentic restaurants, so, it was hard to eat so much of it dry like that. In a nutshell: excellent and can easily recommend! I placed an order for the create your own culetto via the DoorDash app for pick up (one for me and one for my son) and it did not disappoint! I used a suggested option that is popularly picked by other customers, which was Roman meatballs and aged provolone inside of rustic white bread. It was $30 for 2 of them, which I found to be fair in comparison to other places that offer meatballs subs but also for their exceptional quality here! Upon entering Da Nando, there is seating. It's sort of the order at the counter and have a seat style from what it seemed. There aren't waitresses walking about or anything and it in any a big place. I approached the register area to pick up my order. Although both gentleman working were busy with other customers, one of them made eye contact with me and gave me a nice smile to acknowledge my presence which I appreciated. The other man finished up with his customer first and came over to help me. He was also kind, making eye contact and a smile. My order was ready, and when the other man heard I was doordash, he instructed they guy help me me to give me some sourdough on the house. He said "we take care of our doordash drivers"! I found this so very nice! Ironically, although I ordered this for myself and my son, I am actually a DD driver by occupation and very much appreciate this kind gesture! I've made 4000 deliveries and only one other time was offered a free food item so this very much stood out to me. And can I just say that sourdough bread was AMAZING?! I had actually been craving some for weeks now and this hit the spot. It was nice and crispy/flaky on the outside and so soft on the inside with that true sourdough flavor! My culetto was superb! The rustic white bread was of the same quality as the sourdough and held the sandwich together perfectly; no sogginess, no meatballs falling everywhere. I am very picky about meatballs and found these to be absolutely delicious! Not dry. Not too dense. Not falling apart. Sauce was good too and not too much to drown out any of the delicious flavor! And lastly, the aged provolone was excellent! This is another thing I am picky about. I can taste and feel in the texture of a cheese when it is way too processed and this was not. It had a perfectly sharp and aged taste that I love! I found the portion served to be a perfect size for a meal, but if you want more, there's a colossal size you can get for an up charge, or of course you can get a side (I think they have in house prepared chips, cannoli, etc). This place was two thumbs up from me and my son and I look forward to ordering more sandwiches here and maybe getting some more bread on a DD delivery in the future! read more

OMG .. HEAVENLY... INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS PERFECTION in a sandwich!! We were merely hungry for a sandwich and decided to go somewhere new hurrying to beat their closing hour. Never imagining the experience we were about to have. It was the end of the day and the question was "first time?" When the answer was affirmative one of the guys (The owner perhaps.) said "let me make you a little sandwich to try this meat." He created in all its simplicity a massive bite of oh so good meat enhanced with some Provolone on a chunk of perfect homemade bread. By now you can guess that Da Nando's is going to be a regular spot (We've already showed photos and talked about this amazing " going for a sandwich" with several friends and I told my brother in Virginia that when he's up for a Bills game that we are going here.). The restaurant is comfortable and pleasant to dine in offering a few high tops and table. You feel comfortable. What really provided comfort were the three guys making the sandwiches. AND THE MEAT OH THAT delicious meat and cheese. They hand stuff the homemade bread (I chose rustic Italian) and soon you forget Main and Transit because you are transformed to Italy. They proudly talked about the MOTHER'S WALL ... "next time bring a photo of your mother in a 5x7 frame and we will put her on the wall while her favorite song is played." These guys are proud of their eatery. We were told next time to at least sample the meatballs and by the way Tuesdays are chicken cutlet day you have to try them but I don't think I want anything other than the amazing sliced meat stuffed in a perfect chunk of bread. I can't even begin to imagine what a large sandwich is. Spread the word ... keep these guys in business and they bragged on their desserts but we were so happy and full dessert was not on our mind. They guy at the register was super helpful as we had never been here before and weren't sure how it what to order. One we had our food the owner actually came over and sat and talked with us! A great sandwich! I had a variety of deli meats that we're stuffed into the bottom third of a delicious loaf of bread (they even give you a piece of bread to taste while you're making your selections). They have a variety of toppings they ado stuff-into the bread (I had marinated artichokes, gardener, onions, banana peppers, lettuce and tomato. The people that work there are extremely nvery-and very helpful offering all sorts of suggestions. I haven't tried their meatballs sandwich yet, but everyone seems to like that and I got a cannoli tsorry only sorry I didn't get two because it was also delicious. My only complaint is they never offered me a choice of mayo or oil or any sort of dressing and I think the sandwich needed something like that i know it was party my forgot-as i forgot to ask. Nando and his associate Robertino welcomed us into their restaurant with kind words and tasty samples. We carried on a fun conversation as we discussed options and placed orders. The culetti are substantial and delicious. I had the meatball culetto and my sister-in-law built her own with prosciutto and spicy capicola, and other good things. When visiting my son he brought us to DaNando. What an incredible visit it was!!! Made us all feel like famiglia I felt like I knew him forever. The employees here take pride in their work and their Italian heritage. They really know their stuff and will answer any questions you have. They gave me a sample of the aged provolone as well as their bread topped with Canadian bacon. All was delicious, I am not sure if I can go back to regular provolone. I ordered the regular culetto with Genoa salame, mortadella, spicy capicola and suppressants. I also added the aged provolone, nando's dressing, onions, artichokes, roasted peppers and topped it off with balsamic glaze. I can't stop thinking about how good it was. I also order a side of meatballs. The meatballs came with a side of their bread. The meatballs were great to share, but trust me you won't want to. The bread is so hard you can hardly bite it. You have to tear it off with your teeth. It said mayonnaise on the Turkey BLT but mine was soaked with oil.
