I was referred to Grow Salon in Ballard a few years ago by a friend and was reluctant to switch salons as I had been a regular at A Robert Cromeans Salon in downtown Las Vegas. Now, I'm so happy I made the switch to Grow Salon. Elizabeth Trejo, better known as Lizzie at Grow, is my stylist and has really become my friend at Grow. All of the other stylists, including the owner, make it a priority to get to know every client that enters their salon. Whether it's offering you a cappuccino or simply something to read to pass time under the dryer, every need is met here. And the ambience is quite spectacular; the paint, decorations, organization and even music in the background create a chic and serene atmosphere that makes elsewhere hardly significant. Lizzie is so flexible, professional and invested- the work she's done on my crazy curly hair is magic. She really works with her clients and sees their visions for good hair and then makes it happen. I found Kesli Johnson at her new location after reading reviews on Yelp for the Grow Salon location on 80th St. I cannot say enough good things about Kesli or the services offered at this salon. I didn't know what I wanted with my hair, but I knew what I didn't want! After explaining to Kesli what I didn't want, she knew immediately what I needed and how to give me the look I wanted. The result was beyond my best expectation! I love my hair now. The color is perfect for me, the cut makes it easy to take care of and no more frizz!! The salon is also a very friendly, warm place to spend an hour or so. All the stylists are very kind and make a concerted effort to ensure that you have a pleasant and comfortable experience at their salon. I had been going to Grow for a long time getting my usually blonde coloring however when it came time for my wedding I had asked if they did updos and if they were interested in doing mine. I was left with something that looked nothing like what I had asked for and when my now husband called while I was upset crying they continued to call me a child and were extremely rude, btw this was the owner who spoke was speaking on the phone. They gave me an outrageous price point of 200 dollars for an updo and then a 100 dollar traveling fee to go from Ballard to Issaquah. The worst part of it all was dealing with the owner and her attitude. I have seen other people have these same problems. So if you ever feel uncomfortable with telling a salon you are unhappy don't go here because they just make it worse. read more

I've been getting my hair cut and colored at Grow Salon for almost two years. It's such a cute salon with excellent customer service. They have hair products available for purchase, with comparable pricing to other salons and online. I also love being able to drink a glass of wine while getting my hair done :) Sierra is absolutely amazing at hair painting and balayage. She makes my hair look so natural - I always get so many compliments! As someone with very thick hair, Sierra cuts my hair in a way to make it more manageable. They also do a great job of styling your hair how you want it. I recently moved to Seattle and it can be hard to find a stylist that really understands what you want and how to achieve it. I too followed my youthful stylist, Yvette, to Grow Salons. She works at both salons. It's difficult to find a stylist with so much elan. She's creative, always able to give my, now gray hair the lift it needs to be stylish, youthful and trendy. She is great colorist too. For many years she kept my hair in it's natural color with an occasional color streak of my choosing. I only recently let my natural color shine. Went in for my first appointment today at Grow! What a great experience I can't wait to go back. I have box colored my roots for a while now and wanted to 'fix' my color and grow out. Grow salon has been my go to salon for haircuts ever since I started living in Ballard. I've been going here for 2 years and my absolute favorite stylist is Emma. She is amazing. WOW! I just read the review left by Meredith and I am appalled! I have a massive amount of naturally curley hair and have had ONLY Kesli cut my hair for the past fifteen years. I have basically zero attachment to my hair - I would happily walk out with a mullet - so when a stylist actually listens during the consultation it makes a real difference. Hazel asked the right questions and the result showed it. Dry cut, tons of layers, styled dry so I could see the shape come together in real time. Walked out with volume I didn't know my hair was capable of. The salon is a nice airy space with big windows, way more relaxed than your average spot. I also showed her some pictures and my cut looks spot on. She also had great attention to detail and was very thorough. She would see how the style would move and then make adjustments and cut a bit more. My bangs kept separating, which would have looked stringy. So Kristin ended up making them a bit thicker, which was a good solution. Before, I was always afraid to get my hair cut in fear that it would turn out choppy, uneven, they'd cut too much off, etc.. The salon was pretty with lots of natural light which made the finished results pop! It was a very calm and fun experience.
