The whole salon is sooo cute. I hear the owner has two frenchies and they're extremely cute I've been seeing Ahna since Julyish 2022 and she is THE best. If you're in Ballard/ Fremont or crown hill area you need to see her! (If you can get an appointment with her) she is very booked n busy !! I always try to have two standing appointments with her so I make sure I get the time and get I prefer. Ahna always has a detailed consultation with me and really pays attention to detail. She has taken me from neon green to BRIGHT orange and now to blonde. I'm thinking about switching to magenta the next time I see her! I had to cancel an appointment with Ahna at the Olive Beauty Lounge. My daughter needed me to take care of my grandson because of a bad situation had happened to him at school. Ahna the hairstylist texted me that she would still charge me for the haircut because of it being under 48 hours to cancel the appointment. I was so surprised. I have never in 50 years of getting my haircut had my hairstylist do this to me... even when they have a 48 hour cancellation policy. We always give each other grace. I went to see her face to face to talk about it. She would not change the charge. I had made an appointment with her two weeks out. I cancelled it because I do not want to stay with someone who does not treat a person with grace. read more

I followed my trusty stylist, Joie to Olive after she recently moved from BabaLouise. I love the setting of Olive. The atmosphere is sleek and sophisticated. You get your choice of coffee, tea, or water while you wait. Street parking is fairly easy to find as it's tucked back in a residential area. As always, Joie did a stunning job on my hair. I am in love! So first let me give you a little background. I have long, THICK, naturally wavy hair. It gets to the point where wearing a ponytail and going jogging gives me a headache. Every time I get a haircut I ask them to thin and layer it but it always seems to turn out choppy and frizzy. So I have been very hesitant to get my haircut. I go maybe one or twice a year to get a really good haircut. Aka $30+ otherwise I go to the local super cuts and just get a maintenance trim. I know shame on me. Anyways on with the review!!! I was in a desperate need of a haircut I was searching yelp like a mad woman and then I came upon Chelsea J's review. She sold me on the place. So I made an appointment ASAP with Joie. This girl is fun, fierce, and knows her stuff. She played with my hair and knew exactly what I needed. She shampooed my hair and gave a head massage which felt amazing!! She cut and layered some of it wet. Then she blew dry it and finished the layering and thinning to make sure it's smooth and not choppy. Oh my, my hair felt SO light and airy. It's NEVER felt like this before. I looked at the ground and I'm pretty sure it looked like a furry animal on the ground. Chopped a lot of hair! She did MAGIC! I absolutely love my hair and how light it feels! I am someone who has suffered from many bad hair cuts. I have no idea how I haven't reviewed this place already. I should have a long time ago. Anyway, when I moved to Seattle two years ago I quickly realized how terrible this city was when it came to getting a good men's haircut. In San Francisco and Los Angeles it was easy and affordable. In Seattle you have Rudy's (meh) or a detective search to find somebody. Luckily a friend of mine referred me to Renee and she has been fantastic. I tried a few other places but never walked away totally satisfied. And the kicker is that Renee is barber trained which means she actually knows how to give a men's haircut. (Believe me, just because someone can do women's hair doesn't mean they can automatically do men's hair.) Olive Beauty Lounge is a salon and there is a lot of women's hair styling going on, but you see quite a few guys coming in and out. Renee and Levi are the two barber trained people so if you're a guy, get an appointment with them. Renee has also given me a great cut and listened to what I wanted while also gently guiding me back onto the path of acceptability and what I would actually look good with from time to time. She also gives you a quick neck/head massage which I wish would last 30 minutes and washes and rinses your hair pre and post cut. She's the owner of the place and a guy's cut runs $60 which might seem like a lot, but in a city where a good men's cut is hard to find, it's worth every penny. Rudy's is find if you want a 2 on the sides and a 4 on top with a side part, but it's a factory. This is a place to get a cut that is actually enjoyable, fun, and, most importantly, consistent. I've never walked away unsatisfied. And if I somehow did, I know I could go right back and get it fixed without any issue. read more

Renee has done my challenging hair twice, including once for a color correction and this past time to blend a my over-processed, fine hair's grow out with extensions with excellent results. She also removed my old protein extensions and consulted with Hilary on cut/placement of new mixed tape extensions (which also look great). I believe she can tackle any hair challenge with grace and with the customer leaving 100% satisfied. She's a pleasure to work with. I've had custom color work (leopard print in the side of my hair) by Angela that turned out beautifully--even though it was her first time doing that kind of color job. Highly recommended! read more

Ahna made me feel so beautiful and did a fabulous job with my balayage and brazilian blowout. Just went for my first visit and they gave me a great deal for a haircut! One of the best salons I've been to. The store is located in a cozy residential location which makes the entrance very welcoming. After entering I treated myself to some free coffee which they offered and barely had to wait at all for my appointment. Mimi was my stylist and she was very communicative and did her best to do exactly what I wanted. She asked many questions before starting which was great. I was actually really disappointed with my cut. It was uneven and when she dried it, it was flat and looked awful. I have never looked worse AFTER my hair was cut and styled before. I usually have great luck with yelp and after so many great reviews I expected it to be at least ok. I asked for a simple trim, nothing difficult. I started going to Olive a few years ago and haven't gone anywhere else! I love just the overall vibe and theme of the salon- it's very elegant but still fun and casual. I absolutely love the online booking system- it's so easy to schedule with your favorite stylist. Since I started going to Olive, I saw Ahna every time and she always does an amazing job. I want to give this salon 5 stars, because I love Joie Belknap, but I just can't ignore the fact that I liked going to see her at BabaLouise better. The salon itself is beautiful, but the front desk staff are a bit snooty. I have never been offered any beverage, except by Joie, and the receptionist was a little rude when I accidentally left my flat iron last time. All in all, Joie is an amazing stylist and I trust no one else with my hair, but she is a rock 'n' roller, a mover and shaker, with a big voice and fierce attitude, and it just seems this salon isn't as cool as she is. read more
