I like the ambiance here. Super spacious! Only came here for cocktails and want to try their food another day. The cocktails were good. Their specialty are Rum drinks, but I'm not a big rum guy. However I did enjoy my drink. The service was outstanding the gals kept checking in on us making sure things were going well. I'll come back with some of the homies next time to try the food!

This place was interesting to say the least. First off I think it is way over priced. 5 tiny coconut shrimp for 17.00 I could have bought a box at Costco for that price. The ahi nachos were okay way more chips then ahi, but I expected that. My sliders were meh I was just not impressed. The music was good at first, then it just turned into techno with the same song on replay. The service was great the people there were very attentive and friendly. I just think this place needs a refresher. The happy hour needs more food as well. All in all it was just not our vibe.

This is our second time here in a year and we came back because our first time was really good. Parking can be a hit or miss so once you find a spot, take it! Food: coconut shrimp was delicious, perfectly fried. Our main dishes were a little slow coming out which was surprising because we were 1 of 2 tables being occupied so it didn't seem busy but maybe it was between shifts since the bartender was also our server? I got the tofu Bai flight and it was great! The tofu was cooked perfectly and the sauce was a great addition. My husband got the loco moco and after a few bites, realized the hamburger was undercooked. He lost his appetite after that. We brought it to the servers attention and they were kind enough to remove it from our bill. Dessert: the mango sticky rice was good. The rice Krissy's sprinkled on top gave it a nice crunch. Mocktail: Bird of the Paradise was tasty and refreshing. Overall, other than the loco moco, the food was good and the service was slower than usual (almost an hour) for a Saturday at 3pm. Food quality: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Value: 4/5

    Speak Easy in the back

Updated 2025 review - This place hasn't changed much and is conveniently located on Third Avenue in downtown Chula Vista. There is parking in front of the restaurant and parking in the back in a lot. Parking is not free or validated. Staff is always extremely friendly when we've come. This last time we came with a party of 7-8 people and was able to be accommodated during the holiday. For those that do not know, they offer a "speakeasy" in the back and the Tiki Vibe is date night/romantic and you must make reservations. They offer some of the same food items as a variety of tiki drinks! It is definitely our favorite part of the restaurant. While the food is good, we love coming for the drinks! Our bartenders/waitresses have always been super nice and quick, even though they use fresh ingredients for their drinks. The volcano (I believe that's what it is called) drink is a whole event! Lit on fire and everything! a 5-Star Insta worthy posting! Highly recommend the regular restaurant or the Speak Easy, definitely give them a try and grab a drink or two!

Mocktail and an excellent and powerful Painkiller.

This is a cute tiki-themed restaurant (family friendly) with a tiki-themed speakeasy in the back. I highly doubt the speakeasy allows kids. The restaurant is fine. They offer a happy hour of selected foods and drinks until 7 p.m. and who does happy hour until 7 p.m.? I love that. We tried the fries with kalua pork added and it is a massive dish that tastes absolutely wonderful. The fries are big and crispy and excellent. I would come here and get this dish every day, if I could. It is on the happy hour menu and you need to get it.. On the other hand, the musubi balls, also on the happy hour menu, while cooked perfectly, were really just breaded rice balls with tiny flecks of spam. Is spam so precious that no more than a few flecks could be added? This dish was just ok. I was extremely disappointed in the happy your mai tai. It was mostly tasteless. But the night was saved by the Painkiller (served in the speakeasy) which was perfectly made and was creamy, delicious, and wonderful. It also packs a wallop so be careful. I should add they do 8 different mocktails here. I tried two of them and they were both excellent and fairly priced. So, they get big points for the non-drinking mocktail crowd. The speakeasy is darker and, frankly, more fun that the restaurant but there is no reason you cannot hit both of them in the same night, like we did. The decor in the speakeasy if fun and playful. Overall Service was a little spotty in the restaurant but good in the speakeasy. Service in the restaurant needs some work. There is street parking and also a pay lot in the back. I believe the lot is free after 6 p.m. but don't send me your parking tickets if I am wrong. Overall, this is a fun place that is well worth a visit.

    Christmas decor (Dec 2025)
    Alyanna M.

Overall this is my second time coming. We decided to come to see their Christmas decor/drinks. Overall, the decor was very nice & most drinks were good. We've tried the hurricane fries & the nachos. The nachos were not the best, but hurricane fries are decent if you need a snack. Service can be a little slow & at times they seem to be short staffed. This is a good spot if you want a place to sip & chill in the southbay area.

I finally came here after several months that I've been meaning to give it a try, since I believe it is closed on certain days of the week. We came in on a Thursday and it wasn't so busy. I decided to give their signature drink, lime in the coconut, and it was actually pretty good. It was kind of small, but had the right amount of taste. I'm definitely open to trying other drinks here. Also got the nachos, they were pretty good. Only complaint and reason why they didn't get a five star was due to the pricing. The prices in comparison to what you get did not really compare. I'd definitely give them another try though and would love to check out their speakeasy room at some point.

First time dining here with family for dinner last week. I made reservations but you can walk in. We had so many different types of food, check it all out in the photos. I love the vibe. The server was great! Parking was available in the back but you may or may not have to pay depending on the time and day. They also have a speakeasy in the back.

    My happy hour Mai Tai
    Ryan F.

So disappointing. Went for happy hour. The wings were so poorly flavored and felt low quality. The sliders and fries were okay. My Mai Tai was like a big drink of ice and some flavored water. Easily the worst cocktail I've ever had. Nice looking place but service and food and drink lacked. Other guests too I could tell were feeling like they were getting poor service and it wasn't that full.

*customer service was great * fun atmosphere *delicious options * great for big parties * parking in the back This place is vibey. Great customer service Vanessa was helpful and prompt. The food was tasty. Loved the poke nachos and spicy ponzu edamame. The cocktail presentation is cool. They have happy hour which we recommend. The beef sliders are good great portion to share if you are having appetizers. Definitely a must try especially their speakeasy It is fun and trendy. Cocktails are good.

What a hidden gem! Very delicious drinks, love their nacho chips made with wonton and add pulled pork, the yakisoba was amazing along with shrimp as the protein, been a return customer since my first visit! Oh, and I forgot to mention their drinks was amazing as well, definitely ordered their signature lime in the coconut drink. It's a cute little surprise towards the end if you look into your cup.

So I went to the little bar they have behind the restaurant, it's like a speak easy that's connected to them. This place is still tiki inspired, the service was good, friendly, nice people. The atmosphere was nice, great music and good vibes. The drinks were ok but the food was not that great, I got the steak or beef yakisoba and it was awful, I'm sorry I hate to say that but it's true. Overall, I'd go just for the drinks or try another item, definitely a cute place to check out though.

Ask the Community - Lime in the Coconut

Do they sever mocktails at X?

If I made a reservation Is that for the speakeasy or the dining room?

It's for the speakeasy. When we went they did not take dining room reservations. So we made reservations at the X had a couple cocktails and then later had them find a table for us in the dining room. Appetizers are served at X.

    Are kids allowed here?

I believe so. The main dining room has plenty of open seats and you can order non-alcoholic drinks and plenty of food options for the kids.

Do you have to get a mixed drink? Can I get a bourbon on the rocks or a beer?

Yes. At the Tiki bar in the back, the selection was a bit limited but you can order other things. I took a peek at the main bar in the main restaurant and they had a wider selection, but I would say the whiskey options were limited. I don't remember…

Do you need reservations for the main dining/drinking area or is it first come first serve?

The main dining room does walk in! Usually not too busy either so there's never an issue getting a table or booth.

Is there a tv to watch football? Is this a walk in, no reservation required?

Yes plenty of TVs. My group of 10 walked in on a late Saturday afternoon and were seated almost immediately

I'm seeing that it says Japanese, Vietnamese, Tiki. But where is the vietnamese? its more like Filipino food.

I think it's the Vietnamese preparation for chicken wings and tofu/mushrooms. Definitely subtle Filipino references and dishes in the menu.

If you like your tiki bars low-key, The Lobby Tiki Bar & Grill has got you covered…read more If that sounds like a negative, it's not. In this case, "low-key" refers to a tiki bar that is not over-the-top; one that doesn't cause you to enter into an entirely different reality. There's a time and place for that sort of tiki bar but in a small coastal town perhaps you don't want or need to enter a fourth dimension. The Lobby is small (though larger than I'd anticipated), not noticeably dark (like many in the genre), and outfitted with a nice array of tiki-themed tchotchkes. Scooby Doo, playing silently on a small tv above the bar, is a perfect accompaniment to the pleasing decor. I both ate and drank here and found nothing not to enjoy. Tiki bars generally elicit happiness in me and this one, with its excellent server, did not change that mindset. An Astro Chimp ($14) was my tiki drink of choice, mostly because I was interested in trying a cocktail featuring cold brew. Very good, and it did not keep me up all night. Fish & Chips ($23) was a sizable and satisfying portion, plenty there to be shared by two. "Brussels" ($11), were also quite good and ample. You will not go hungry if you choose to dine here. The Lobby is a fun choice for your time in Oceanside. Stylish and satisfying on every front, I'd happily return. Other stuff: * There is apparently a stairway-accessible rooftop deck here but it was closed for a private event during my visit. If open, definitely worth checking out. * 5% surcharge is automatically added to everything you spend here.
