Given that it is a CVT, I knew I was in for a world of hurt. At A&A, I was charged $400 for a transmission only diagnostic first and foremost. Then I was quoted $15k for a new transmission and vvt solenoid ($11k transmission, $4k solenoid). I wasn't even offered the option of a used, low mileage transmission, and after talking to multiple other mechanics that price for the solenoids is outlandish. New solenoids cost roughly $350, and they're not exceedingly complicated to install. If you do go here, which I would not recommend based on the price of the diagnostic alone, I would recommend asking for a second opinion. There aren't a ton of shops that will rebuild a Subaru transmission, but Proven Auto in Anchorage has been wonderful to work with.

There is an incredible inventory of used and repaired gas engine powered equipment of all kinds. I would be amazed if he doesn't have what you need in the way of parts, service and repairs.
