The food is great. I had the luncheon chimichanga special which was tasty and served quickly. Very nice margaritas! Our server was friendly and brought out the chips and salsa as soon as we were seated. The ambiance is very casual, almost industrial. I wouldn't call this a first date spot. Big burrito picadilo with half mild and half hot is my favorite. But chicken version good too. So excited to try this new spot. We were greeted with a mariachi band out front. We had to try the margaritas of course. We shared a mezcal frozen strawberry margarita and a house mezcal with guava. Both were delicious. We also shared the pollo loco dinner. Served with flour tortilla so you can make your own tacos with it. It chicken was served over top queso with a side of refried beans. We have driven by this place and wanted to try it out so we did. Street parking was easy via 1st Ave N. The place is nice and quaint and dog friendly outside. Service was good..... but the food was bland with no kick or spice to it. I had taco salad and my husband had steak fajita, and house margs. His first comment to me as we walked to our car was "not impressed". read more

This establishment was a profound letdown, to say the least. For a steep $50, we received two plates of food, devoid of any alcoholic beverages or even soda. While I might have tolerated the price for genuine Mexican fare, what we encountered was a disheartening Gringo-Mexican hybrid. Had it been Nuevo Mexican cuisine, I would have anticipated a different experience, but instead, we were served refried beans accompanied by Pace Picante sauce. If your palate favors overpriced and insipid Mexican dishes, then this is your destination. read more

I was so excited to see a New Mexican restaurant coming to St Pete I was there on the first day it opened. First, I was greeted by several people at the door so service is on point. Not to mention after I sat down I was given delicious chips and salsa which most places have as an add on now so that was a special treat. And the salsa was actually very good! I had the steak burrito with queso on top and it was the best I have tried in St Pete so far. The steak was perfect size so I felt like I was eating a burrito which is how I like it. Some places it is too large so you feel like you're eating steak meat wrapped in a tortilla - but not this one. It comes with a side of lettuce and guac which I also loved. The rice and beans were perfect as well. For opening day the service, food and experience was spot on. They have a great selection of beers on draft as well. Also, a nice mix of indoor and outside seating is available. If you're a fan of good Mexican you will be very pleased for this new addition to our little city. Im a huge Mexican fan and usually travel to clearwater for the type of Mexican I enjoy (authentic) so I could not be happier. read more

We've done takeout from the South Tampa one and this was has exceeded our expectations! If you are looking for classic Mexican with flavor try this out! We had their birria empanadas, loco pollo and their big burrito and everything was perfect! No notes! Their margaritas were fresh and you can add flavor to them! We didn't have reservations, so we arrived promptly at 5:00 p.m. and were lucky enough to grab two seats at the bar, which is first come, first served. As the restaurant gradually filled, it was impressive to watch the staff work together so seamlessly. Maeva and Christina never seemed to stop moving; giving recommendations, crafting cocktails, checking on guests, and somehow keeping everyone's glasses full while maintaining a relaxed atmosphere. The food is absolutely something to rave about. I honestly wanted to order one of everything on the menu. The garlic bread may sound like a simple starter, but it's anything but ordinary. The salmoriglio, roasted garlic, fresh parmesan, and crisp texture come together to create something that's incredibly satisfying. I only planned to have a couple bites before my meal, but I ended up eating a couple pieces. Also, the meatballs are worth trying as well. They had moisture, flavor and the tomato sauce sealed the deal. To drink, I started with a classic Negroni and later enjoyed a Last Word with my entrée. Both cocktails were exceptionally well balanced and paired beautifully with the food. For my main course, I ordered the scallops. They were cooked perfectly and served over a creamy herbed risotto with romanesco and piquillo peppers. The crispy slice of prosciutto added the finishing touch, bringing just the right amount of texture and saltiness to the dish. Everything fit together beautifully and tasted every bit as good as it looked. I cleaned the plate as best as I could. To finish the evening, I enjoyed a shot of espresso and a scoop of gelato--a fitting way to end an Italian meal. It's easy to see why Olivia stays consistently busy. Between the exceptional service, thoughtfully crafted cocktails, and outstanding food, they've built something special. I'd love to visit their Tampa location to compare the two, but I'll gladly return to this location again and again. If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine with an energetic atmosphere, attentive service, and food that's worth talking about long after dinner, Olivia deserves a spot at the top of your list. Served on crispy toast points with salsa macha aioli and a green pepper adobo that worked beautifully together. I could not rave enough about this dish! (Just try it! You'll thank me!) I don't typically love sauce with my churros, but both of these were so good we practically drank them like shots! For our first experience at Pulpo, it was fantastic!
