Although I only got takrout (okay more than once) I love this fast and causal Mexican restaurant! The burritos (2) even without beans which unfortunately my daughter doesn't like where huge and more than enough for leftovers. I really love the option to smoother them in cheese which just adds another dimension to the flavor. Their salsa is fresh and a bit peppery bit good flavor overall. We are big fan - our favs the birria, their meat is so tender & flavorful. My honey had barbacoa burrito- it was really good he said. This time I had soft corn tacos with the birria meat so delicious. They accommodate to my gluten free needs. We love their corn chips so much better than other Mexican restaurants in the area. We ordered UberEats from here after a long night helping out at an event. So grateful this was open and was taking delivery orders because we were starving. We did have a few issues with the uber but not because of the driver, but apparently the area that this business was in had terrible signal so he was experiencing some technical difficulties. We ordered some birria tacos which they were having a special on for BOGO when we ordered. We also got some chips to go with our order. When it got there, the greasy goodness refueled us. I'm not sure if I was super hungry or if it was genuinely really good but overall a good experience. Sometimes greasy food doesn't do so well after delivery but it was good when we got it! I ate at Grumpy Gringo this past weekend for lunch. I ordered a Taco Salad, chorizo. The food came out fast and the portion size was good! I like the lettuce in the salad. They have a self service sauce bar, so I added some mild sauce to my taco salad. I was able to finish half of it at the restaurant and now I have leftovers for an easy meal! read more

I've tried many different Mexican places and this one I keep going back to the prices are fair and the food is even better. They are also very timely could be in and out in 45 minutes if you wanted to! Not to mention they actually make a spicy margarita that is actually spicy. read more

What can I say other than the food was good. Tacos are my go to when trying out a Mexican restaurant for the first time. If they get that right then they got me. This is a great Mexican spot, although not authentic, it's a delicious spot. My favorite part is how their basic margarita is better than most, in taste, price, and how strong they are. You really get your bang for your buck here. I've only been here twice and both times ordered the crispy fish tacos. They are delicious and I crave them. I don't even normally order fish tacos, but here they are so good and light. The queso here is delicious too, and there chips and salsa are good too for this being a gringo spot. Parking lot at the end of the strip and is pretty full and tight for a full Size extra cab pickup. This is a walk up and order type place where they give you a number and they bring the food out. Not a lot of inside seats but there are more outside. Place could use a good deep cleaning. Neat decor with old western movie flyer wallpaper up in the area where we set. No one was overly friendly but that is ok as we were there to eat. I ordered the three shrimp tacos. They were very large and covered with a very generous amount of cheese. They had salsas available up front with descriptions. I mixed the jalapeno mayo and the mild red salsa and it was delicious on the shrimp tacos. The service is always quick, even when there is a line during the lunch rush. The food is always fresh and consistent. My favorite is the #2 combo - 2 tacos with rice and beans. I get chicken hard tacos with no beans. It's the perfect portion for me and flavor. I have also had the taco salad and chips with queso previously and they are good as well. I like the variety of meat options, from traditional Mexican meats to vegan. The mini hot sauce bar is a plus. The added outside seating is a nice plus. Everyone I've brought here loves it! The food was alright, maybe for someone who's never been to the west coast, Texas or Mexico they may like it more than me but I thought the tacos were okay. I ordered two barbacoa tacos and two lengua. They come loaded with a lot of other stuff like sour cream and I think corn but I just got the cilantro and onions. First thing I look at when I get tacos is the tortilla. Is it made in house or does it at least taste like it's made in house and sadly it didn't have the appearance or taste of a freshly made taco tortilla. I can't believe that I've never reviewed this place as it is one of my favorite places to eat in St. Pete. Before I moved here, I would visit often. When this place was TacoSon, I absolutely loved it and would stop here almost every trip. When I moved here, I noticed that it is now called Grumpy Gringo. My heart sank, where will I find another place that specializes in Sonoran food? My fears were relieved when I walked in and the menu (at the time) was almost identical. The phenomenal home made salsas were also the same! I absolutely love their chipotle chicken, and order it in various applications (usually a number 2 or 3 combo). Their nachos are absurdly huge, so if I'm real hungry, I'll go with that. Their daily specials are all delicious as well. They have home made agua frescas that are also very good. I alternate between horchata and the pineapple one. Seriously, one of the best places for Tex-mex / Northern Mexican food in the area. read more

There is a bar where you can sit inside or outside in the patio. Was promoted served when entering. I ordered a bowl with shredded chicken, rice, beans, cabbage, tomatoes and cheese. The first few bites were good. However as I went on to eat I feel a salt overload. If I had a bite that didn't have beans it, I felt it was very dry. Stopped into the Grumpy Gringo for lunch while out shopping. It was a solid choice for lunch. I loved the divey decor and the large variety menu. We ordered at the counter and waited for our food to arrive at our table. The server didn't see us sit down so we missed the chips and salsa. Our food took a little longer than we thought it would but it did arrive hot, fresh and delicious. They restaurant features a nice outdoor patio if you prefer to sit outside. My favorite item of theirs are the nachos. Their nachos are a meal themselves. They are huge. Their chips are delicious. Whether they are plain, with salsa or in nacho form, they are stellar. I love their supreme tacos too with beef or chicken. I mean they are really putting Taco Bell to same with these ingredients since they are actually real.
