Another hidden gem for ER. This place serves Chipotle style, but don't let that fool you, Guacamole is legit. Fresh ingredients always. The protein options are way more flavorful than the previously mentioned chain restaurant, and much higher quality. Plus, churros. I mean, who doesn't like churros? The food was exceptional! The food came out so fast it and a tasted so fresh. The waiter was so kind and the service was very good. The greater on the other hand when you walk in was a moody teenager that doesn't know what they are doing. She told us that the wait will be around 10 minutes and it ended up being 30! We loved the original take out in East Rochester and finally had time for a visit to the new location in Penfield. The is no longer a take out option which is sad. The food is as tasty and fresh as it was from the original location which was great! Unfortunately it was disappointing to see the portions are smaller and instead of all the toppings you could have at the original location you are limited to 3. Any additional toppings are a $3 up charge. I certainly didn't get $3 worth of cilantro, lol! My husbands bowl was much smaller and without all of the usual toppings it did taste differently. Not sure if we will return as there are Mexican places with more options and better portions at reasonable prices. The other downside was the noise level inside. Options include burritos, 3 tacos, tortas, salad, or plate (burrito bowl). Meats include al pastor, carne asada, grilled chx, pulled pork, ground beef, and vegetarian. Tacos are typically street style on 2 corn tortillas which is a nice way to try the various meats. The burritos are excellent... Very filling and they usually give you quite a bit of meat. I saw this restaurant on Facebook and wanted to try it. I'm vegetarian and wasn't sure how it would be for me, but then I saw reviews on here that said guacamole was free on the veggie, so I decided to give it a try. Parking was easy. I went in the middle of the day, but there was a lot next door too, so I don't think it would ever be an issue. It's setup a lot like Chipotle, and I ordered a Mexican plate which is like a burrito bowl. The Pico was very good. It was mostly tomato, which I prefer, and the guacamole was very good, and I got a nice big scoop of it. The sour cream was in a squeeze bottle, which isn't my preference, but they were generous with it. It's very small and I got it to go. If I go again, I'll get a dish for my husband and he can try the meat. The two staff were very friendly and had a conversation with me. My burrito was large but was heavy on rice and light on chicken. The flavor was very good, but the small amount of chicken was noticable and a bit disappointing. A seriously awesome place for lunch and conveniently located close to fisher! They even offer student discounts and free meals for frequent diners. Whenever I come I always get the tacos. I will say it is the closest thing to a taqueria that I will probably ever get in Rochester. Personally I think the tortillas they use are too big for the amount of meat they use but it is still tasty nonetheless. Their chips are Limey? Very chipotle esque. As for their churros, I found them to be way too long and the dipping sauce was too thick, making it hard to scoop up the chocolate sauce and caramel. They would be easier to eat if the pieces were shorter. As others have stated, guacamole is a play on chipotle or moes where you pick what you want taco/burrito/burrito bowl, your meats, and your toppings. I admittedly had a cold and my brain wasn't working so well, that being said....the menu confused me. There are dishes listed and then "options" without prices and then more "options" with prices, and then accompaniments/garnishes; some with prices and some without. To the rescue comes ta da the manager man...... I think. Either way, he was very knowledgeable and helpful, he answered questions and offered additional information. Being a pain in the guacamole (having come with someone who says "Salsa, that's spicy, what are you trying to do kill me?" I'm pretty sure the only salsa related slaying almost happened right then) I asked for sauces and garnish on the side and they were so polite about it. I'll come back when I can jalapeño up my food. Tried their torta with cochinita pibil (a pulled/shredded kind of pork) which was described as resembling a panini. It was intriguing and I'd definitely have another. Equally delicious the day after. Three tacos chicken, al pastor and carne asada. I think the carne asada was my favorite. Everything was tender and had a distinct flavor. Their red salsa was kind of smokey. The pico fresh. Their green salsa tasted a bit off to me. When I mentioned it the manager tasted it, explaining when and how they make it. He thought too much lime was the culprit, thanked me for the feedback and brought out some homemade churros with caramel sauce. I've never bothered to order churros, these were delicious! Went here because I saw good things on yelp... The guy behind the counter greeted us immediately. He was very nice and informative but didn't rush us, which I appreciated a lot. He explained the choices to us and made recommendations. I ended up getting Al Pastor tacos with corn tortillas. They were great. Not anything to blow my mind, the meat could've been a little hotter. BUT, for tacos in this neck of the woods I will definitely be back. The guacamole, however, WAS mind blowing. Too often, restaurants hand out old, lacking guacamole. Not this place! I was sooo flavorful & fresh. The drink selection was pretty deceNt. Sodas, beers, water bottles, etc. I can't wait to try the tortas next time. In town for an event, we found Guacamole on Yelp. Cute little place with yummy food. It's summer and the inside of the restaurant is HOT, so we choose to sit at their outside tables. I am only giving this place one star and that's because the mojito was good. The rest is a waste of time and more importantly your money! They charge for chips for the table. They won't say they do but they only come when you buy the salsa or guacamole. The guacamole was okay but the chips are not homemade. My dish was explained as a fajita type and you construct it yourself. I am familiar but the steak in my dish could have been anything. There was zero flavor and the only other item in the so-called fajita was beans and they were cold. We asked that no cilantro be added to the dishes ordered. My friend's tacos had thick layer of cilantro on the top of the meat in each taco. We returned it to the kitchen. New plate comes out. No cilantro but now has flour tortillas and not the corn she ordered. We mentioned this to the waitress who did offer to return the order to the kitchen but by this time she would be eating alone. I told the waitress we did not like the food and she promptly brought the check. Nothing taken off the check even though we sent the plates back mostly full. I explained as we left that I would write this review and plan to share this awful experience with anyone that will listen. Save your money. I LOVE Mexican food as a So Cali transplant. Finally tried Guacamole. Food as pretty good (4star). But in phase 2 of the pandemic, only 1 in 4 employees was wearing a mask or wearing it correctly. And no gloves were being used although she was using her hands to make the burritos. Gloves have been REQUIRED for over 15 years in our county to protect against Hepatitis A or B. Really? I've been to this restaurant 5 times already. It is authentic Mexican with a twist. You pick from the ingredients for your tacos or burritos. There are about 5 kinds of meat to choose from and a bunch of veggies and cheese. The burritos are so big they are a meal in themselves. The food quality is outstanding. They also have a Mexican plate which I tried. It's ok if you want to try a bunch of stuff. I got three tacos -- Al Pastor Pork, Cochinita Pibil Pork and Picadillo Beef. The chips and homemade guacamole is very simple but yields very clean flavors and overall is a satisfying snack by itself or an add-on to any meal. Two flavorful refreshing drinks are also available here. One being Tamarind Fresca. I hear it's great when mixed with orange juice. The storefront and dining area is inviting and clean. Not bad! Their namesake ingredient is pretty good. The guacamole in my veggie burrito was terrific, and there was enough of it to be noticeable. I've been burned by other local places that charge extra for that, only for you to barely notice that it's there. The tortillas are good too. Dinged one star for two reasons. One, the massive quantity of rice in the burrito. To be clear, it wasn't a normal sized burrito that had too much rice and virtually nothing else. The other ingredients were all present in good quantities, but there was just so much rice that the burrito was a little too big and off-balanced. Second, the restaurant forgot our side order. We weren't going to make a special trip back to go get it, and it seemed to take a while for them to find our order and get it sorted. But they did make it right in the end by refunding the missing item, so credit where credit is due. read more
