3/6/25-I had been so excited when I first saw a TikTok video about this place, but I would end up disappointed. The food was bearly average on a food scale. For Mexican food it was actually bland. The buffet is a little overpriced for the quality, and when compared to other near by buffets, their lunch price should be in the $15-19.99 range at max. Many other buffets have seafood as well at lower prices. The the restaurant itself felt run down. There was even a big hole in one wall covered with plastic and duck tap. First food is great So why 20.00 for non hispanic customers? I couldnt believe past posts of some customers being charged higher prices. So why not post this at the cashier stand? Why not charge one price for all. But 20.00 each for lunch on a tuesday is a bit much. Wow, what a joy of a restaurant. The idea of a Mexican Buffet is a bit daunting because I always imagined it being plates and plates of rice and beans. Guadalajara has incredibly diverse options so you can literally get a feel for all types of Mexican food. This is not Casa Bonita, this is truely authentic - even more than most taquerias around the area. First, I must mention the soup options are all on point caldo de res, menudo, pezole - it's all there and it's all good. There are multiple tamale options and these are decent for a buffet. Tacos are similar to Jack in The Box if you're planning to go with someone who is afraid of authentic Mexican food. Oh and did I mention there's a horchata fountain? Incredible. read more

Got tired of trying the same old chinese and american style buffets and wanted to branch out a bit, I've tried a mexican buffet once more than a decade ago back in Texas and wasn't impressed but was willing to give this place a shot after not trying one I so long, and the result was like night and day. The place itself is not impressive at all from from the outside looking in and inside itself isn't much to speak of, but I came here for food and food only This place blew the one I had tried back home in Texas out of the water, this was authentic Mexican, not Tex-mex, and it showed in what they had. Tried to have a little of everything but there was so much I'm going to have to come back and try the stuff I didn't try before, the food here is just that good. In this country, there is Mexican food for the American palate, and then there is Mexican food for the Mexican palate. This place is clearly the latter, and is freaking awesome. I have traveled all over Mexico, and the food here brings back so many gustatorial memories it is unreal. It's dirty when you walk in. Don't let those TikTok videos fool you. They spruce it up for filming. The buffet has a lot of options. A handful of foods were pretty ok. The rest like the enchiladas look dry. The "ceviche" don't touch, looked let out for hours. The buffet isn't kept clean or tidy. We ate a bit and decided it's a heck no in the future. Not worth it. Eating at this buffet my first time was incredible and I'm sure it will be the next time and the next. I think there really were 50 dishes to choose from, nearly all of them being authentic like your Mexican grandmother would make at home. Menudo, posole with traditional toppings, beef caldo, chicken caldo, four types of tamales, smothered tamales, and green chile pork were just a few dishes. What else is incredible regarding this place is the number of low ratings. If you're not comfortable with eating in a large room full of people in "not the best neighborhood" don't eat here. The tables weren't too close, it was just packed at Sunday at 5 pm and there was full staff serving and replenishing dishes constantly too. The service was very good. Did they take away every dish immediately no but they weren't stacked until the very end. Our server came by frequently to check we had everything we needed. Another one was even so kind as to offer me a sample of their tamarind drink after I asked what it was. The main star for five stars was the delicious food. I had to get the chicharrones in a red chile sauce. Actually went back for a third plate after dessert. It was the best I've had and I've ordered that dish at legit Mexican restaurants in California. The spice level was perfect for me and I like spicy. Similarly I got seconds of the green chile pork with rice and beans. Tamale masa could be more tender and the chicken caldo tasted a little strong of knorr, but I would eat both again. The caldo was actually really good with large chunks of cabbage, squash, corn on the cob, carrots, and potato the way it should be. I spend a lot of time on Yelp discussing "hidden gems" in the Denver metro area, and the place I'm about to mention, Guadalajara Mexican Buffet in Aurora, is no exception. Although it (justifiably) has a rabid fan base, it also seems to fly under the culinary radar. As you may imagine, Guadalajara offers a vast array of options to please your persnickety palate. If I go into detail about all of them, we may well hear Shari Lewis singing "This is the review that never ends..." before too long. Therefore, why don't I focus specifically on things that I've particularly enjoyed there? Oh, you like that idea too? In that case, here we go. For an eatery which serves such a high variety/volume of dishes, I have always been very impressed by their rich, earthy, clearly long-simmered chicken mole - how do they find the time to make this and everything else? In a similar vein, while not the healthiest dish on the planet, the stewed pork skins (or if you please, Chicharrónes) in red sauce have always been a big hit with me too. Succulent braised goat (Chivo) is another possibility - and since the chef's nickname happens to be "El Chivo", you already know it's going to be good. But there are so many other goodies to be found here too. Costillas en Salsa Verde literally translates as "ribs in green sauce" and yes, this offering of pert pork ribs in a tangy tomatillo sauce will have you rapidly joining the clean plate club! And now that I've mentioned both the red and green sauces here, I have to just put a word in for the cheese enchiladas available drenched in either one - they're so simple to make, but still manage to leave an impression on me each time I visit. After all of that protein and carbs, a vegetable is always welcome - so how can I not bring up Guadalajara's Nopal (cactus-leaf) stew, with its bounty of vitamins A, B, C, K - oh, I bet the whole alphabet is in there if I look hard enough. Oh wow - how did dessert time come around so fast? And yup, you can end your meal a number of different ways here. While the cakes and fruit selections have their many admirers, my two favorite sweets here are probably Arroz con Leche (rice/raisin pudding) and a custard based on Rompope (egg/vanilla punch). read more

This place is dynamite. The service is great- and the food is even better. They have some traditional dishes like menudo and pozole, and also some more anglicized dishes - like a Chile relleno in an egg roll wrapper. Fantastic stuff! We returned to Guadalajara Buffet for the first time in five years. The food was better than I remembered, which is an unusual change for a buffet and a credit to the owners. The pozole was the standout item on the 50+ item buffet with other standouts including quesadillas made with fresh tortillas, breakfast tacos, chicharrons in spicy green sauce, and the (amazingly fresh and delicious) ceviche. I felt the price for lunch was a little steep at almost $13 not including drinks given that many Mexican restaurants have lunch deals for under $10, but of course this is all-you-can-eat, so it'd be worth the price if you're super hungry. Yes I'm a fan! Traditional Mexican food, family owned, fresh and not your typical dishes served in most Mexican food restaurants. The seafood soup is incredible! Ceviche is very good and if you think you like turkey, try their turkey tails! OMG, turkey legs will never do after you try the tails. The atmosphere is definitely "working mans" place. Nothing special at all about the atmosphere. It's basic. If you want to sit at a table or booth, there are tables and booths to sit at. If you are there to eat, leave full, and/or try something new, you will be satisfied. Service is quick and friendly. For the best price, go during the week.
