This is a popular place, and I admit that their tacos are very good. Their menu is simple, and the quality is good. I just didn't feel that it's the most friendly place, but that may be because it's busy. You order at the counter, and you can eat there, but I think the service is mostly takeout. I order a asada fries dish, and the fries were not fully cooked , no flavor and the meat was raw, I called the number listed and no one answer . my partner got the gorditas, the Monterrey cheese and he got nothing but lettuce and tomato . Haven't came to this location for years cause my last visit wasn't that good taste wise. I stopped by today around 9:00 pm. I figured they might have figured it out by now but I was wrong... I got chicken, asada and Al pastor tacos and the taste on all meats were no good. All meats tasted off and also the chicken looked old and gray. If you're gonna be open till midnight and be charging $3 per taco please make sure your ingredients stay fresh and tasting right. Also I had some random guy come up to me while I was ordering begging me to buy him food after he got denied by other people eating at a table. Delicious Mexican food on east Colfax. Most of their salsas (walk up salsa bar) is very spicy. They do have limes, radish and cilantro as well. The tacos are very tasty. They are small but not expensive. There are several choices for meat. My favorite is the carnitas. They offer a lot of Mexican sodas, coke and horchata, Pina and Jamaica. They also offer a few postres (desserts) but I have not tried them. read more

I love getting to try a new Taco spot, they are definitely one of my favorite foods! Tacos and Salsas did not disappoint! The tacos were a good size and had plenty of savory meat. They also have a variety of meat choices which I now see as a personal challenge to return and try them all! Years ago, I remember eating at a Tacos Y Salsas, when they had their al pastor spit outside of the restaurant, calling patrons inside to taste their famous tacos. Since then, these restaurants are really no longer allowed to leave them outside throughout the day, for fear of contamination from birds, and being outside. Still, these tacos are some of the best around. Colorful chairs and tables, and friendly service from both the waitress and cook, combine to create a perfect atmosphere for enjoying your lunch, snack, or dinner! While they do have other options besides tacos, I find that their tacos are very filling and tasty. I had some al pastor tacos, and a chorizo taco. I have also had their chicken tacos. All of their tacos are filled with meat, and you are welcome to use their salsa bar to personalize your tacos. The tomatillo salsa, pico, and fresh cilantro, are some of my favorite additions to my tacos. Tacos Y Salsas is one part of Denver that has continued to impress, and has maintained a similar feel as it had more than ten years ago before all of the rapid growth that we have seen in our city. The tacos are a bit pricy when compared to the small street tacos, but these are a lot bigger so you get more bang for your buck! I'm a big fan of small, private owned, old school restaurants because that's where you find the gooood food soo here I am The first time I was here, I got a torta and made it half chicken/half steak and it was delicious. This time around, I decided to get three tacos (chicken, steak, and pork). The tacos were a good size so for $2 each, it was a perfect meal. The tables and decorations let you know that this is authentic Mexican food. They even have the old school glass soda bottles to top it all off. This is where you should go if you are truly craving great Mexican food. It's not the trendiest place in town, and I doubt it will ever be recognized as one of Denver's Best. But you will never convince me that you can find better tasting Mexican food in Denver than here. True. This restaurant fits right in with the hole-in-the-wall restaurants that permeate Colfax. I wish that would change. Aurora and Colfax deserve better curb appeal. But as far as quality food at a reasonable price goes, the Colfax restaurants cannot be beaten. I ordered the barbacoa burrito. Amazing. Great flavor. Little resemblance to the Tex Mex that is most common in Denver. I'm not saying it's authentic Mexican food because I can't claim that authority. But it was different in a good way than what I'm used to in Colorado. I also remembered that a friend of mine highly recommended the al pastor taco. After ordering my burrito, I added a single taco to my order. It was worth it. The tacos here are incredible. Fresh flavor. Great seasoning. Overall, some of the best street tacos in Denver. I got my food to go, but I think dining in would be great, as well. I have to come here for my fix, when I'm tired of eating mediocre brown-people food cooked by brown-people of dubious morality for undiscriminating white-people. Seriously. I ordered 4 tacos as I thought they were going to be tiny. Yeah, don't do that unless you haven't eaten a week. My boyfriend is a burrito guy and reported that the beef and bean burrito was as tasty as it looked. I enjoyed steak, chicken and al pastor tacos, foisting half of each off onto him so that I could try each kind. The salsa bar is fantastic, they have something for EVERY taste and heat level there, we sampled 5 kinds along with some carrots from their carrot/jalapeno mix (fantastic carrots, btw - try them) and of course some radishes to cool it all down. We went to Tacos Y Salsas for a snack and found the staff curiously happy at 11:00 PM. In fact they were singing along to loud music as they cooked. Were they practicing for some Hollywood Musical? One cook chopped meat to the beat, accentuating Spanish words by cutting off their endings: chopchop chop chopchopchop chop, which left me wondering if my mother lied to me as a child: there are places where people are happy to work late nights in a restaurant. Why did I get a college degree? We got menus and sat down. My man and my friend started rattling off $1.50 tacos (photo above) to the waitress, who was ready. Sadly, I didn't order a snack. I wanted to, more than anything, I wanted to eat some of that meat cooking on a spinning grill off Colfax, because I've been to Mexico, and meat grilling right off the street is as authentic as I've seen. But I can't eat gluten, anything that has even a speck of flour in it will make me sick. This place makes its own tortillas every day. There is too much flour in their kitchen for me to eat here. Pity. Big double-dog crying pity too-much-gluten-shame for me. When the tacos arrived, my Man and my Friend jumped up to embellish their food at the counter by dripping anything spicy all over. Ohboy... where to start? Been coming here since they opened, great tacos, decent smothered burritos, really good menudo on the weekends, the food has slipped a little in quality as the number of locations has increased. It can get really busy here at times and I make it a point to be very aware of my surroundings especially if I go there after dark. The area can get sketchy! I hope the owner spends more time here to look closely at the quality to make sure it stays as high as possible. The sauces are still flavorful and the asada, pastor and carnitas are my favorites. Simple menu but delicious! Tortas are amazing. We had barbacoa and marinated chicken. Perfect crunch and fresh lettuce and tomato on top! The Gordita was also great. They also have a salsa bar, which was pretty good. Mostly medium to spicy though so not for the intolerant. Also includes cilantro and diced onions, as well as really fresh limes. To enjoy the salsa bar even more, the salsa chips are worth the $1.67. Homemade fried chips! This place is sit down or counter. Friendly service. Good music and decorations as well. This place doesn't look like it's located in the best area, and it's pretty much a "hole in the wall." But all the meats are cooked incredibly well here. The asada, al pastor, and carnitas have great flavors. And you can sauce them as much as you want from the salsa bar. Probably the best tacos I've ever had, and I would never have expected that here. Not very big inside with a handful of tables so seating might be a problem depending on when you go, but definitely worth trying read more

When your best friend moves across down, that's reason for moping. But when he moves close to a whole strip of taquerias, hey! Life is back to being alright. This place is pretty darn cute (please forgive me for using the 'c' word). The service was sweet. And who doesn't love a salsa bar? But the meats in the tacos (we tried 6 different kinds) were all really grisly and oily without much flavor. That said, each taco was PACKED with meat. The tortillas were flavorless and dry. The salsas were okay but also pretty bland. It's Mexico-style in that you order, you eat, if you want you order more, until you decide you've had enough. Then at the end you go up and pay for everything you had. We came late at night so who knows, that may have impacted things. But the disappointing food experience here put us back on our mission to find some damn tasty tacos. read more

You really cant get better Mexican food than this! I'm crazy picky about the good stuff and I can't sing higher praises for Tacos y Salsas...not matter which one you go to, it's awesome! This location is pretty small but it still has all the style of a vibrant restaurant in Mexico. The colors and the music and the delicious smells are all what make this place so great. I don't think I would ever turn down the opportunity to have some of the best tacos in town. Love me the Al Pastor tacos with some pineapple added on top. Seriously, these bad boys are insane good! The best thing to do is get a variety of tacos (they're under $2 a piece) and try all the different meats. They're all delicious but I say just pick your favorite. There are three words to describe Tacos y Salsas 3: Little. Yellow. Different. Little, 'cause there are only about 7-8 tables inside. Yellow, 'cause that is the decorating color of choice. And different, 'cause this place isn't necessarily squeaky clean or spacious, but the tacos speak for themselves. I've visited the location on Federal numerous times, but last week was my first time at the Colfax location. It's $1.60 for tacos, and let me tell you - they don't skimp on the filling, at least not for the al pastor variety. For some insane reason I ordered three, and then sat there for about 20 minutes trying to get them all down. They were served with a side of shredded iceberg lettuce, which was totally unnecessary, but that's okay. I'm a fan of almost any joint with a salsa bar, and this spot was no different. My tacos took a while to arrive, so I spent the time eating roasted jalapenos and quenching the burn with coke. Lots of people stopped in for to-go orders while I was waiting, and for them I feel a little bit sorry because I think the food is best eaten piping hot. Reviewed to remove a Shame on You!!! It has been a while (as in months) since I have seen the al pastor encrusted with pigeons. I had promised a return visit if they disappeared. So yesterday when it was freezing cold, I headed into Tacos y Salsa after checking on the horses. In good faith, I ordered the al pastor tacos. They were hearty and flavorful, a trip to the salsa bar customized my tacos. During my visit, the service was fast and courteous and in between serving, the place was constantly being wiped down. Yes, I will return and feel confident about eating at Tacos y Salsa. And about those pigeons, they were still marching back and forth outside the window where I sat; I taunted them by eating a taco that had not been previously sampled by them. read more

This is the first place I think about for Mexican food, There are several locations I have been to but this one is closest to me. Not the best location and not the prettiest inside either but the BEST food and they have always treated this gringo well. I've been going here so long I remember when there was only 1 menu in English. On one $1.50 taco there is more meat than most places burritos. Staples for us are the pork tacos simmered in spices then fried crispy on the edges and grilled steak burritos. The avocado tostadas need two hands to eat they are so loaded up. This Tiny hole in the wall gem Was Fantastic! Some of the best street tacos I have had in a long time. Now I say Street tacos but these things are piled on with meat of your choice. They are served to you with just the meat but they have a small bar where you can load it with salsas and veggies. It is a small place and are a bit packed in with as much seating as they could fit, but once you get your food you could care less. Very clean and colorful environment! My favorites are their chorizo tacos, with the habanero salsa. I personally think that their habanero salsa could stand to be spicier. Re-revision. Okay, now I don't know what to think. After being to this and the South Federal locations a few times I think I actually might like... no maybe not. The problem is about the seasonings, I like the flavor of the federal location better but they over-salt, this location on Colfax gets the salt right but under-seasons. Don't get me wrong, I like both locations (overlooking some cleanliness issues at both) but, there is the slightest room for improvement at both (of course everything is subjective and depends on your sensibilities). Also, damn it I ordered tacos without remembering it was the weekend and there was what looked like a good bowl of menudo to be had. (insert expletive). Oh and one other thing. The menu was in english and I didn't have a clue what to order, friggin' duh. Yummm! Quality. Fast and cheap! Walked in and out within 10mins for a carne asada plate and tasty lengua, al pastor, and adovada tacos - every single thing was amazing. The tacos come out with just meat and a side of lettuce. A side bar had all different kinds of toppings, different salsas, chopped cilantro and onions and roasted serrano peppers to add to your liking. While we filled up on sides, we watched a lady make our tortillas from scratch, wrapping each ball, flattening it and frying it made to order. The cook had it down to a science, at one point he reached for salt behind him with one hand, turned around and grabbed meat with another hand while simultaneously reaching backwards to season things without looking - whoa.
