We have actually used this mortuary in the past and had a much better experience when working with a different funeral director. Unfortunately, this time was completely different, and the experience we had with Monica was extremely upsetting. Monica lacked empathy and did not take the time to guide us through the process or explain our options. We specifically requested a viewing for my mother-in-law, and later were told she was not viewable. This was devastating, especially because we were then told it was due to us not requesting embalming, something that was never clearly explained to us. As a grieving family, we didn't even know what questions we were supposed to ask, and we relied on the funeral director to walk us through those decisions. Communication was also very difficult. Monica was rude on the phone and did not show understanding or compassion. When we expressed concerns or asked about alternative options, nothing was offered and there was no apology. When we ultimately decided to switch to another mortuary, the only response we received was that we would still have to pay. The lack of care, guidance, and empathy added unnecessary stress and sadness to an already painful time. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Tempe Mortuary to families looking for compassionate and supportive care.

They are absolutely amazing and I can't praise them enough. When my mom unexpectedly died on 12/23/24-I found myself doing the unthinkable on Christmas Eve: researching and Yelp'ing all the best mortuaries and cremation centers in the Phoenix metropolitan area. What a surreal and morbid experience! But I had no choice. To my frustration ontop of my grief, many of the business were short staffed because of the holidays, and either didn't respond until a week later or could not answer my question about whether we could integrate some Buddhist rituals and chants into the standard "witnessed cremation" process. But Meldrum's was the first to get back to us despite the holidays. And they were surprisingly flexible when we ask if we could do a direct witnessed cremation without any memorial ceremony, and then take the ashes overseas for entombment. It turned out to be alot more complicated than expected--lots of notarized paperwork and clearances required from the Taiwan embassy--and the deadlines were really tight. But Meldrum's not only helped us with a cost-effective direct cremation, but also continued to work with us for free months later when the required paperwork for transporting ashes to Taiwan hit a lot of snags. So although this 5-star review is a year late, we felt strongly that Meldrum's Mortuary deserves a huge public thanks for everything they did to help us. If you are Asian and need a personalized and culturally sensitive cremation plan like us, please check them out!!

It's has less of a cemetery feel than a memorial space as they don't allow standing gravestones, just the flat plaques. Right now it's in development but the future plans will include a pond and bigger spread. The staff were so kind and helpful before and during the services, we were thankful for their professional guidance. My emotions are still raw but the peace of this place will soothe them as I come to revisit and reflect.

Since the early 1990s, I've been visiting this cemetery to visit the gravesite of my grandma with…read moremy grandad. Quarterly, we made sure to spruce up the flowers and clean up the stone a bit. Additionally, my dad would periodically take me to visit his brother's grave, though with the nature of his passing, it was always a harder visit. Sadly, as the years have passed, more of my family reside here. My Nanny passed very suddenly. Cancer diagnosis on a Wednesday and passed on a Friday. In 2006, the family found themselves quickly making accommodations that were unexpected. My grandpa said it was a pretty easy process, and he appreciated being able to future purchase to be buried with her. This made it incredibly easy when he would pass 8 years later as my aunt would take care of those accommodations without the financial burden. As for pricing, we all know it is not cheap to do so though I've heard it's fairly comparable to the surrounding area. The grounds have been well kept the last thirty years that I've frequented here, and my family has continued to chose this location as their final resting place. The grounds are well kept, there is plenty of parking, and most of the staff is very compassionate and friendly. I will mention that one receptionist in particular was very rude to my mother when we arrived. My Mom began to make her way toward the service we were attending and the woman at the front desk was very snippy with my Mom and told her not to go near the room where the service was being held. She said "It's not ready yet, the family is still setting up!!" My mom asked if she could just sit on the chairs outside the chapel and wait for them to finish setting up, the lady said "NO" with lots of attitude and frustration. I was completely beside myself on that type of behavior! So we sat in the front lobby on the chairs provided. There are 4 chairs in the main lobby, which suited our needs. Just when I thought I had already seen it all, the same woman gets up from her desk and storms over to the chapel area where the service would be held.... Muttering under her breath, walking briskly, and pulls the doors closed... Then continues back to her desk to sit down. I'm not sure if this is her normal behavior, but it could be argued that her personality type doesn't exactly jive with the typical crowd that attend a funeral home.... They also offer water bottles to guests & have a snack machine in the lobby. There are several rooms available for funeral services, which are spacious and comfortable. I will say that I was surprised to see that the pews are not bolted into the floor... I used the back of the pew to help myself up after a service & it disturbed the bench in front of me... That was embarrassing. All in all, the place is exactly what you'd expect. Aside from the rude woman that greets you as you enter the building. We have many relatives that are buried here & others that have been cremated. Aside from Fridays experience, I have never had a complaint about my encounters here.

Katie took care of the arrangements with me and also took care of my mother's preparation too. Katie did such an amazing work on the preparation of my mother that she looked 20 years younger.
